When 41 year old widow, Joanna‘s daughter brings her new husband to live with her,she has feelings she never expected. Steven is 35 and closer in age to her than his 21 year old wife and time soon shows they have even more in common. Joanna is expected to go gracefully into old age and be content with her quiet life but she isn‘t old and might not be all that content. More contemplative than scandalous, I thought this was a gem.

Wow, did I love this book. It was smart, funny and full of suburbia sizzle ! A perfect read to kick off September.

What a delightful read! Brinton‘s book that entangles Austen‘s characters in a variety of circumstances is playful and endearing. While not quite Austen‘s prose, the narration does well in imitation. This was another winner for me. Although, I did rant about it to my husband several times and think about throwing my phone across the room if it went a certain way. But all is well, because I found the ending very satisfying. #authoramonth

I‘m excited for the movie. I was picturing Sam Clafin as Jesse until I watched the trailer, but I think it‘s just a thing for him as I‘m picturing him in another read now. #Booked2023 #featuresalovetriangle

I just fell in love and had my heart broken several times over all in one rush. There‘s nothing unpredictable here, yet somehow watching it unfold was still surprising. It takes on some major cliches, but it does so in a way that is completely without artifice. TJRs considerable mastery at bringing her characters to life is going to leave me with a major book hangover from this one.
