Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder | Richard Louv

Visited friends in Wisconsin recently and there were so many little libraries everywhere! I was delighted to find the tagged book in one. Coincidentally, I recognized it because it was often in the “by our staff” shelves in the bookstore at Colorado State University in Fort Collins where my friend and I got our M.S., and the book is related to her current thesis project. #LittleFreeLibrary

I‘d been leaving bookmarks just lying loose in my community LFL and then my dad sent me a couple of bookmark holders as a belated Xmas gift… so I put one in the LFL and now all is organized and cute in the world. 😄

Wounded: A Novel | Percival Everett

Another gem found in a neighborhood #LittleFreeLibrary ! I‘d never even heard of this one, but if Everett writes it I will read it. Grateful today to be outside in the currently fresh air in San Diego, even as I‘m feeling so much sadness for our northern neighbors, including some good friends who lost family homes. 💔

ImperfectCJ I can relate to the simultaneous gratitude and sadness. Family back east keep asking if we're okay in San Diego, and when I say we are and that our college kid is safe at school so far, too, I feel it acutely, almost a guilt at feeling grateful to be safe (so far) when such destruction is happening only a couple of hours away. And of course knowing that our safety is contingent on something as capricious as wind patterns. 3mo

BkClubCare I found this book last year and because it was PE I took it home. Thought it was great. Our hearts go out to all with threats of 🔥- very sad in so many ways. 3mo

We're so far unaffected in San Diego, though inland areas have warnings re: this next round of winds that's arriving. And yes, climate justice is so needed. Old in Art School: A Memoir of Starting Over | Nell Irvin Painter

Fun #LittleFreeLibrary find in my neighborhood! Somehow I‘ve never heard of this book before, but it sounds right up my alley. The other picture is for @monalyisha , who asked me to share a photo of some scallop shell ornaments my husband and I made many years ago when we lived more in her neck of the woods. (An abalone one made it into the shot too; those are the best because the holes come naturally pre-drilled! 😄)

Kimzey I downloaded the audiobook because I was familiar with Dr. Painter who was a history professor at my university when I was in grad school. I have yet to read it, but it's on my list for 2025. Beautiful ornaments!
