Virginia Woolf wrote a freaking masterpiece within the last few hours of her life, but was too talented to realize it. I‘m sad that she died thinking this shiny brilliance was but a trivial effort. This is a must read if you like Woolf.

5 Stars • "The Waste Land" is a 434-line modernist poem by T. S. Eliot, published in 1922. It's a complex, fragmented, and allusive work that reflects the disillusionment and despair of the post-World War I generation. The poem is divided into five sections: "The Burial of the Dead," "A Game of Chess," "The Fire Sermon," "Death by Water," and "What the Thunder Said." ⬇️

I think you could call Crane a poet‘s poet. His work is steeped in metaphor and analogy, made more difficult to a modern day reader by the gap in eras. There is little here to grasp a casual reader. Yet there is an instantly recognizable power to his poems. Despite the lengths one must go to decipher what Crane is ‘saying‘, one can FEEL it all the same.

An undeniable talent who went with his best work still locked inside him….
