Librarybelle Still playing catchup, but please keep me on the tag list. I fell behind but want to read her works in order, so it‘ll be a bit before I‘m up with the group. 3h
Cuilin What I find interesting about Woolf‘s writing is that I really enjoy it while I‘m reading and two days later I forgotten the majority of what I‘ve read. I remember birds flying over a town. Oh and a group of women asking if men are worth the praise bestowed on them? 3h

TheBookHippie I prefer her short stories and stream of consciousness over her long ones. I read a few twice to soak them in. I printed out Monday or Tuesday for my collage journal. 1h
AllDebooks @Librarybelle please don't feel under pressure. It's a relaxed group. Enjoy them as and when you get to them. 😊 9m
AllDebooks @Cuilin that's true. 🤣 I did enjoy Kew Garden with the view pint of the flower bed. 8m
AllDebooks @TheBookHippie adding them to your journal is a good idea 💡 7m
TheBookHippie I didn‘t fully check this out but it appears to be our February book https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNAdq9NHTlw now

“All fixed, fast-frozen relationships, with their train of venerable ideas and opinions, are swept away, all new-formed ones become obsolete before they can ossify. All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned, and men at last are forced to face with sober senses the real conditions of their lives and their relations with their fellow men.” (The Communist Manifesto)

I know that Shute was an Englishman who spent parts of his life in Australia, but I wonder if he spent time in the Pacific Northwest. He writes so fondly of it in the start of this novel, and it is also featured in On the Beach.

An intriguing article on the discovery of Vanessa Bell's painting, The Party. On exhibition at Sotheby's, London during November.

Between the Acts | Virginia Woolf
Pickpick

Virginia Woolf wrote a freaking masterpiece within the last few hours of her life, but was too talented to realize it. I‘m sad that she died thinking this shiny brilliance was but a trivial effort. This is a must read if you like Woolf.
