This blew me away, but I wouldn‘t say that‘s a positive thing. Parallels to current society, what it means to be a “good mother,” the glaring differences between how the mothers and fathers were treated - all very unsettling, and a reminder that women are so often still considered “less than.” Sometimes downright scary to read, but I‘d still recommend it!

CBee #pantone2023 #peachpink #mochamousse @Clwojick I finished the challenge 👏🏻👏🏻 2y

I really enjoyed this slow-burn, friends to more story. The characters were finely drawn, complex, and kind to each other. The writing we lovely too, I will read more from Lacie Waldon. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #Roll100 @PuddleJumper #Pantone2023 #Tangelo #PeachPink @Clwojick

This third instalment in the beautiful Tea Dragon Society trilogy is just as glorious as the others. Cosy, beautiful, wise. Greta's blacksmith apprentice test made me cry.

I really don't like unreliable narrators... and for some reason I keep picking books with precisely what I dislike. 🙄
🎧 This was an interesting story and I did like the writing style, very lush and full. Will keep Ana in mind for future work.

BookLineNSinker I thought this one was pretty good around a 3 ⭐ review from me as well. Side note: I am wondering about the Pantone challenge and how that works, could someone help me? I've seen these posts with the swatches and I'm intrigued! Any help would be greatly appreciated. For February I'm also starting my first ever BookSpin/BookSpinBingo 2y
Clwojick @BookLineNSinker just tagged you in the #Pantone2023 posts! Hope you join us! 2y
BookLineNSinker @Clwojick thank you so much! I'm in! I love books and art and this is a perfect challenge to inspire me to read outside my normal pics! 2y
Enchanted_Bibliophile @BookLineNSinker There's a lot of fun reading challenges on Litsy. And it helps me read so much more and so broadly. Glad you also found some fun ones. 2y
Enchanted_Bibliophile @Clwojick Thanks for helping out @BookLineNSinker I had to study this past week so I didn't manage to visit Litsy as often as I usually do.💐 2y

Alias Grace: A Novel | Margaret Atwood

I was surprised by how quiet the tone of this was and how lovely the writing style - it made for a marked contrast with the sensationalized case it‘s based on and the gritty themes. I have great respect for Margret Atwood as a writer but just as often hate her books as I do love them, which has kept me from reading as much of her back catalogue as I‘d like. I‘m glad I decided it was time to read this one, it definitely fell in the love it camp.

BkClubCare Blind Assassin?! Have you read it? 2y
IndoorDame @BkClubCare I haven‘t, but I‘m definitely interested to. What did you think? 2y

Cinfhen Loved both this book and blind assassin!!! Great choice for prompt!!! I was so happy after I read this book too!! It was one I was initially intimidated by but ended up being a favorite. 2y
IndoorDame @Cinfhen glad to hear you liked Blind Assassin. I think I‘ll make that my next Atwood. 2y

jlhammar So glad you enjoyed this. I loved Blind Assassin. Probably my favorite Atwood. Robber Bride and Cat‘s Eye are also really good. 2y
