so-soI was slightly disappointed by this one. The main character being a crossword-setting amateur sleuth lead to unfavourable comparison‘s the Judith Potts from Robert Thorogood‘s Marlow Murder Club series.
This novel was a good idea not particularly well-executed.
pickGently gripping but undemanding, this rather ridiculous romp (with jigsaws) kept me amused and guessing (I'd pinned the murders on every single character by the end!) The MC is an 80 year old cross between Miss Marple and Toyah, not always likeable, not always believable, but, hey, it's Christmas! The quizzes & wordplay are fun and, yes, it's a little far-fetched at the end, however as festive easy reading goes, this was decent entertainment.

We do not care that our Wordle streak was broken although we complained about it to anyone who would listen. We might have complained about it to strangers if we‘d run into any. We don‘t care that our new streak says a pathetic “1” instead of a nice long number. We now know how many words end with “ound”, way too many. We know Denise feels our pain.
