I love animal stories, and find working dogs fascinating. I grew up with a drug detecting dog in my house and watching his training and drive was always so enthralling even if the dog himself was a big old butthead 😂 Interesting read, you can tell the author really loves dogs and what she does.

This is straight up supernatural horror, and an interesting read. I love how one of the main characters can literally see people‘s pain. What a fascinating concept - and a horrible burden. Good characters, multiverses, horror, atrocious acts, and also acts of love and family bonds. I liked the ending despite, or due to?, its ambiguity. Solid addition to the horror genre. #netgalley #arc #dogsoflitsy #rescuedogs

Wow. This book is an examination of mental illness, drawn from the author‘s own son‘s experience. I‘ve read books that deal with anxiety and depression, but never one that really digs into psychosis/schizophrenia. It was eye-opening and sad and beautifully written. It‘s in the “teen” genre because it‘s about a teenager but this story has a broad audience. Readers of all ages can learn from this book. #petsoflitsy #dogsoflitsy #loki #rescuedogs

If you enjoyed The Hazel Wood and The Night Country, you‘ll enjoy reading the origin stories of Alice Three Times and Twice Killed Katherine found in Tales from the Hinterland. Some of the stories wandered off a bit but many were more tightly written. All are dark, dreamy (nightmares), creepy takes on fairy tales. It‘s a great companion piece to the other two books. #petsoflitsy #dogsoflitsy #rescuedogs #cozyfire #fallvibes #netgalley #ARC

I enjoyed this book set in the 30s and appreciated the atmosphere. I did feel it was a bit slow in the middle and I started to get antsy waiting for something to happen. Then it picked back up but I have to say that, a few weeks later, I barely remember it. The picture is of #Klaus and our latest guest, an older gentleman who needs a new home and is trying us out. Hoping he ends up living out his golden years with us! #petsoflitsy #rescuedogs

MicheleinPhilly Oh I hope it works out for you both! 🤞🏼 4y
Sace I hope your gentleman guest decides to stay! 4y

Crinoline_Laphroaig Awe! 😻🐾 As for the book I always remember that line about how you make a choice when you're young and it sticks with all your life. 4y
AmyG You make me so happy. Hope this little guy loves your home! 4y
Bookgirl @MicheleinPhilly @Sace @squirrelbrain @AmyG thank you, me too! So far so good...both cats and the dog all are getting used to him and he is very laid back! (edited) 4y
Bookgirl @Crinoline_Laphroaig I fully admit my ability to really get into any book is lacking right now. I feel like every review needs a “it‘s not you, it‘s me” disclaimer! 4y

As a dog rescue person I just have to have my dog themed section too. Whether it‘s about true stories of fighting dogs overcoming their struggles, dogs coming back from war, or fiction including dogs, this is where they go. 🐾💕

Howard_L Cute. He‘s guarding your books! 5y
Jari-chan What a great section to have in a bookshelf! ❤ 🐶 5y

TheShaggyShepherd @Megabooks that one is in the general animal section. As I get more dog specific books, the Herriot books will move over there too. 5y

Happy #nationalpetday from Olive, who has heroically let me finish my book club homework with only minor interruptions 🐶 (and look! One of our books is even one of those “dogs cure everything” books, even if it features Great Pyrenees instead of beagles!) #homeschoolbookclub #kidlit

lisslalissar Can I just say your dog makes me happy whenever I see it in my timeline? Justice the wonder beagle says hello! And yay for homeschool book club! Mine crashed and burned very quickly, but I hope to try again at some point. 6y
emtobiasz @lisslalissar aw thanks! Hey Justice! 👋 I‘m astounded this book club is still going strong (my older group regularly gets 16 kids 😳) but I‘m beyond thrilled they keep coming back! We‘re taking the summer off, but we‘ll see if attendance stays this steady come fall, too! 6y

I thoroughly enjoyed this #nonfiction look into the world of service dogs- focusing mainly on psych services. It‘s an uplifting (though at other times rather tearjerking) listen that made me even more thankful for dogs in general! It‘s a fascinating listen read by the author herself- great for #AudioColoring but even better for #AudioWalking with a four-legged friend!

I loved this book. I volunteer for a humane society so the plot intrigued me. The characters were quirky and sweet. I was so thrilled to read an uplifting book. I‘m looking forward to reading more by Ellen Cooney
