Her personality shines here - what a vibrant, sharp and funny woman - and wow, her incarnation as Leia really did follow her for every day of her life. Loved the shade she threw about that!

Although metal has never been my thing per se, I did recognize most all of the references that Hendrix does so well. You really have to be okay with gore for his books-although for claustrophobic me, there‘s a part when our MC Kris is trying to get out of a tight underground situation (bats & bugs included) that had me whimpering like a baby in a good way!😱🤣

Ok so not a typical pick but this book that chronicles the lives of women who were able to obtain an abortion compared to those who were turned away has sex, a small amount of drugs, and not really much rock n‘ roll. plenty of melancholy tunes that could accompany this but I‘m going with rock n roll Joan Jett‘s Bad Reputation - for women leading lives they want. #Titlesandtunes #sexdrugsandrocknroll
pickSoft pick, since I prefer Nothombs original stories over the biographical ones. But it's still Amelie Nothomb and I do have a very soft spot for her. She's an autobuy, whatever she writes. Actually, this is a very personal book, since she writes the life story of her father. I was surprised to find out that you can visit the place belonging to her family (where the first half of the book is set as well). Maybe I should go there at some point...
pickI loved this, my #titlesandtunes pick for #sexdrugsandrocknroll. It certainly wasn‘t on the seedy side, despite Esme living in squats in the 70s and designing see-through outfits; it just seems as though she has enjoyed every minute of a fabulous life, and is still doing so!

There were so many emotions that this book brought me, took me down the rabbit hole of the juxtaposition of white artists wanting the soulful black sound as backup on their records all while taking the credit as front men, or still flying their confederate flags and singing their southern rock anthems. Merry Clayton added her beautiful vocals and epic scream to one of the most famous rock songs-The Rolling Stones‘ Gimme Shelter. ⬇️⬇️
