The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest | Stieg Larsson
Salander is plotting her revenge - against the man who tried to kill her, and against the government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life. But it is not going to be a straightforward campaign. After taking a bullet to the head, Salander is under close supervision in Intensive Care, and is set to face trial for three murders and one attempted murder on her eventual release. With the help of journalist Mikael Blomkvist and his researchers at Millennium magazine, Salander must not only prove her innocence, but identify and denounce the corrupt politicians that have allowed the vulnerable to become victims of abuse and violence. Once a victim herself, Salander is now ready to fight back.

So our books at the library check out via RFID tag. RFID tag allows you to stack books/DVDs/CDs/etc on the shelf check and it'll read all the tags.

Unless the cover is metallic.

Got real good at spotting these and manually checking them in when this was super popular.

Also, the movies-original is so, so much better than the remakes.

I liked the way Salander is described, how people helped her because they knew her. But I‘m not a fan of books that over describe things.

2½✨

This one dragged on and on with back story information that I really didn't care about.
The only thing I enjoyed was Lisbeth's trail and the conclusion of the series.
The suspense and mystery was what got me into these books, but it was totally lacking in this book.

Book 3 of the series. I came to like Lisbeth more in this one. I still don‘t really like Mikael, just some thing about the character. As always well written and worth the time even when it feels like it‘s useless information dragging on and on. Solid pick.
For those who have gone on the read the books in the series not written by Larsson, should I keep going or stop and let my imagination take over on what happens to Lisbeth, Mikael, and All?

Laughterhp I just read the 4th book and really liked it. However, it‘s been 10 years since I read the first 3 books, so I had no memories of the previous writing styles and vaguely remembered the previous storylines. So I don‘t know if that helps you 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y

The trial was very interesting! The rest of the book was way too long and had backstories I didn't care about. I missed the hunt and the mysteries the previous books contained. I also didn't really care for all the sexual escapades of Blomkvist. But overall, it was a nice ending of the trilogy!

#12ColorsofDecember Day 6: Silver

A super shiny silver book cover on this book! While I own the first three books of the Millenium series, I still haven‘t read any of them (though I‘ve seen both the Swedish and American versions of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo).

It took me longer to read this than it should have, but overall I loved this ending to the trilogy.

That said, there were some side character arcs that I didn‘t fully grasp the relevancy of, but they were still interesting.

Bumped it up from 2 to 3 stars from my initial 2015 read. It's still my least favourite of the trilogy.

Starting book three to finish up the trilogy. I initially read this in 2015, and it was my least liked of the series. I gave this two stars first time around--interested to see if the rating will change on the second read-through. 🤔

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This is more political and slower paced compared to the first two books, but it‘s still thoroughly enjoyable and a satisfying end to the Millennium Trilogy! Currently unsure if I‘d like to continue reading the series written by a different author though...

Different from the 1st. More of a criminal case drama. Still engaging when able to sift through Larsson's penchant for long expository detail.

Finished the original trilogy. Not sure if I have a desire to read the new author‘s take on the characters that Stieg Larsson brought to life. I was overall happy at how things were resolved. The books helped on these extended winter weather days we are having in the Midwest. I audiobooked along with each book.

I good conclusion to the original trilogy. Larsson's death was a shame and I'm not sure whether to read the Lisbeth books written by another author. Using this book for a couple of challenges including #popsugar.

Finishing the Millenium Trilogy. Since there are posthumous works, should I consider it a series? Lisbeth Salander is a truly unforgettable character, but I can‘t help but wonder what it would have been like if it was written by a woman.

Tamra I chose not to continue after the trilogy. Just didn‘t seem right, but that may not be fair either to the second author. (edited) 7y
CoffeeK8 I wondered that also... like Lizbeth is amazing but I feel like we mostly see her through the male gaze. 7y
JillPill I have read the fourth book and while it was ok it was not as good as the original trilogy 7y

Earlene I started the forth one and read about a quarter of it and gave up. My advice is to just read the original three books. 7y
KellyK I loved the first three; the fourth was OK, the fifth... ugh 😑 I finished it, but I kept thinking I could be reading something much better. My recommendation is to call the first three the series. 7y
