I am the queen of reading too many things at once… but I just need this long weekend comfort read!
#TBRPile 📚 “The Palazzo Falconieri stands on a promontory on one of the smaller Italian lakes.”
It‘s hard to write action books. What‘s exciting on screen translates differently when it is on the page. (ever try to read the Bourne books? Ooof.) This one certainly keeps you engaged. Best part is the characters of Eve, who is flawed but passionate, and Villanelle, who is an alluring sociopath. The ending sets up the next book, which is mildly annoying. But it‘s fun & I looked forward to reading it every day!
Reading the book that Killing Eve is based on. Villanelle is such a deliciously evil character.
#TBRPile 📚 She is the perfect assassin. Ruthlessly trained. Given a new life. New names, new faces - whichever fits. She is Villanelle. Without conscience, without guilt. Without weakness. Eve Polastri is the woman who hunts her. She‘s MI5, until one error of judgement costs her everything...
This was a fun, quick read. But 💯% the show is better than the book. Because Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a flipping genius and Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer are perfection. It was interesting to read the source material, but I don't see myself continuing with the books.

I still need to finish NOS4A2, but I love A Discovery of Witches and Killing Eve. And a confession: I love the Killing Eve series more than the books- which are really more novellas than novels. The cast is just so amazing!
⭐️⭐️⭐️ A good start to the series. The Villanelle of the books is a far more scary and psychopathic character than the TV series.
Got this for 99p on kindle yesterday. Incidently the latest episode's action took place very close to where I live. Although clearly not shot here, they've greatly over estimated the size of Aberdeen railway station!

We‘re getting series 3 EARLY!!!! And for my UK buds, you‘re getting it on April 13 instead of months later.

I had watched the first episode of “Killing Eve” before realizing the show was based on a book. Being a book lover, I knew I needed to read the book first before continuing to watch. However, I can honestly say the show is far superior to the book (I never say that!). The book was poorly written, poorly developed, and under-whelming for having such a great potential premise.
Thank you so much @kaysworld1 for sending me this book! It was such a nice present to come home to today and I can‘t wait to read it!! 😃 #jbuk
One of the rare occasions where I can say that the TV show is better than the book.
The thing that I liked about the book was Villanelle's backstory, about how she was picked by the twelve and trained for her role as a fierce assassin.
So much fun! This is the novella that the show is based on, so there are some differences, but just like Eve, I'm beyond intrigued with Villanelle. Their cat and mouse relationship isn't featured much in this story, but I'm hopeful that the second one will.

First up for #24b4Monday! There are some differences between the show, but it's still bloody good fun! #TeamSlaughter #scarathalon @Clwojick
Having been addicted to and delighted by the two TV adaptations of this trilogy, heading for the original books was too tempting. Another dose of Villanelle, see? This book has a number of “Ah, I see how they used that on TV moments!” But overall it‘s different enough to hit the spot. I never fully bought into Eve‘s obsession with the assassin on TV but her character is more rounded, plausible here. I won‘t oversell this book but it worked for me.
I have this proud beauty downloaded to my phone and will be devouring it with both of my favourite ears. If I ever met Villanelle I am sure we would be bezzie friends and that she would only rarely kill me in a gruesome fashion.
This is one of those rare instances where the show surpasses the book. This book was just pretty alright but it didn‘t give the characters the depth or humor that they have in the show. Quick read and I didn‘t hate it, was just wanting more! #KillingEve 🔪
I wasn‘t going to read this but it was on super sale and I know I‘m going to suffer withdrawal after the finale tonight. I appreciated learning about Villanelle‘s history but this is definitely one of those rare instances where the adaptation is better than the source material. It was entertaining and fun but it lacks the depth, richness, and humor of the series. 3🌟
I have a terrible migraine so had to cancel a lot of my day. 🤕 I'm currently in bed watching Killing Eve. It's so good! #queerbooks
Love the show, giving the book a go.
A telling and accurate (in my own opinion) description of Eve. I have no basis for this..just feel it‘s right lol
Was curious after watching Killing Eve what the book was like (love the show). Enjoyed it very much. Hope he keeps writing them.
Well I guess at least the second season will be loooong over by the time I get this.
Love Killing Eve and I really enjoyed the book it's based on as well! The show is quirkier and has richer supporting characters; the book is focused very heavily on Villanelle and Eve (and moreso on the former) and Villanelle's backstory isn't a mystery. There are enough similarities that it's fun to see what inspired the plot lines on the show but enough differences that I wasn't bored or feeling like one was a lesser copy of the other.
Stoney joined me for #bookandbubbles tonight; he loves bath time! I'm obsessed with Killing Eve, so I'm checking out the book it's based on. Any other fans of the show? The book is a fun spy thriller so far, although the show seems to have taken the wit and quirkiness to another level.
4-19-19: My 33rd finished book of 2019! #codenamevillanelle #lukejennings 📖#️⃣3️⃣3️⃣
Last time I had this book in front of my window the snow was all gone and it was open and in the 60s. I just want to start planting and turn off my heat. Is that too much for a girl to ask of mid-April weather. Finished the book today, pretty short. Prefer the show, the humor and quirkiness of the characters is not present in the novel. That said I am on to “No Tomorrow”.
Absolutely gorgeous weather outside, but it is that awkward time of the year where it is 66 today. You want to get your patio set out, but then you are threatened with snow for some of the upcoming week. So I am stuck reading by an open window. Excited that season 2 is starting tonight, thought I would try the books since I enjoyed the show.
Picked this up last night before bed. Bad idea! Didn't want to put it down and go to sleep! 😁
Primo romanzo che non sapevo avesse un seguito. È un romanzo di apertura quindi si familiarizza con i personaggi e le ambientazioni. Carino. Ben scritto, ma lascia ovviamente dei buchi. Spero nel secondo volume.
Happy Monday to ME!
This is probably my most anticipated pop culture happening of 2019.
MY BODY IS READY! 😍😍😍😍
Eh. A rare case of finding the TV show/movie better. The writing is well-paced & I really enjoy its sparseness. But the warmth & humor of the show were missed. Villanelle *only* has sex and kills people which got repetitive at first, and then wearying by the end. And the book doesn‘t have a conclusion, which I loathe.
So excited to read this one! Loved “Killing Eve.”
Very fun listen. Different from the show and just as enjoyable.
I adored this even more than the tv series. So cleverly written, entertaining and fascinating. Dark humour at its best.
I liked this- I got some backstory on Villanelle that put some of the series into context. I‘ll be looking for more! #killingeve
As inspiration for BBC show “Killing Eve”, this story features some strong female characters, but for me it didn‘t have much more going for it. I didn‘t find it particularly gripping or engaging and I don‘t think I‘ll be picking up the sequel. Dare I say it, the TV show was much better in my eyes!
My full review is up on my blog now 📚
This is 99p for kindle at the moment. I‘ve read it and thought it a brilliant spy thriller with strong female characters
