I'll do a proper post for this book later but just wanted to pop back in here and try this app again.

I'll do a proper post for this book later but just wanted to pop back in here and try this app again.
So I haven't posted anything on here in like a year, but I want to get back at it. And I will start by talking about the book I just read obviously.
I initially picked this up because I saw a trailer for the movie and I was interested. I'm not a purist when it comes to reading the book before seeing the movie, but I did this time. Overall this book was only ok. It kept me reading but I was unimpressed. Definitely will see the movie.
Dr. Pupper wanted me to sit and read all day so that's exactly what I did and finished this gem! I absolutely loved this book. Anise was such a cool character and I loved her family dynamic and the growing she does in this book. Definitely recommend it for fans of Sarah Dessen books.
Haven't been on the litsy scene in awhile but I read both The Fixer and The Long Game by Jennifer Lynn Barnes this month and I am so sad to find out that the series ends there. Such a good series! I read both books in a day a each after being on my tbr forever.Definitley thinking I should pick up more by this author. Cannot recommend these enough.
All the Rage is a book that sticks with you. It's a book that talks about rape culture, small town life, and more. I read it last fall and simply could not put it down until the end. Even all these months later, I still find myself thinking about it on a regular basis.

#CurrentlyReading featuring Sunday night doggie cuddles
Picked this up not really sure what to expect and ended up really enjoy it! A funny, darker take on what housewives do all day that talks about marriage, female friendships, and more.
Starting this tonight. Hope it will get me out of my reading slump.
So excited to curl up with this tonight! I read the first few chapters as a sneak peek and couldn't wait for my copy to come in from the library so I could start it! Glad it came in this week! Really enjoying it so far!

Just realized I never posted that I got first #bookofthemonth box last week! Can't wait to read these!
"What I wanted was for them to have the grand, sweeping narrative they deserved, the kind of American history that belongs to the Wright Brother and the astronauts, to Alexander Hamilton and Martin Luther King Jr. Not told as a separate history but as a part of the story we all know. Not at the margins, but at the very center, the protagonists of the drama."

Right: Me starting Hidden Figures.
It was library day and I went a little crazy with the home decorating books for a change!
Sunday mornings should always include a cup of coffee, cozy blanket, a book, and snuggly (even if grumpy) cat.
Tonight I finally took a bag full of books I had pulled months ago to take to Half Priced Books. And I got a lot more money back than I expected so I went a little wild. So excited about all of these!
Books I got for Christmas!
This is super late but I didn't open gifts from my parents until Sunday due to work schedules/being sick. My mom came through with the Ally Carter's pre-order and I can't wait to read the next installment. Eligible is a book she and I had been talking about a couple of months ago since we are both Jane Austen fans. Can't wait to read these!
Book gifts for friends! Couldn't find the books I was looking for at Barnes and Noble BUT I had heard enough good things about these that I picked them up instead. We did friendmas on Monday and they went over pretty well!
Tonight's read: Had this since I went and saw her and still haven't picked it up. Tonight just seemed like the night to do so since I've been feeling overwhelmed this holiday season. Also pictured, the cat who stole my sweatshirt while I was in the shower because he thought it suited him better.
Y'all know how it goes. Return two books to the library and pick up 6.
Book Mail is best mail! Atlas Obscura is a Christmas present for Secret Santa in my husband's family and the Lauren Graham is for me.
"Everyone's got someplace to be. Finding God is not on the schedule."
Loving this so far, by the way.
"It's better to see life as it is, not as you wish it to be. Things don't happen for a reason. They just happen."

I'm sure you all don't need me to talk about this book but after finishing it, I figured I would share my thoughts. I wasn't wowed by it, but it kept me reading. After spending 75% of the book convinced that I knew what happened, I was happy to discover I was wrong. The middle drug a little for me; some events could have been cut out. Overall, I enjoyed it but probably not something I'll return to. I am inspired to pick up more thrillers!
Not feeling my current read right now, so I decided to finally pick this up while I wait for dinner to cook. Haven't read her previous books but the premise really intrigues me.
Surprise hold pickup from the library just in time for vacation! Not too far in but it's ok so far.
"I was not meant to drop anchor or seek harbor."
Spoken like a true adventurer.
Today for #recommendsday I'm recommending a books series I haven't read but it is my husband's favorite series. It is apparently action packed and amazing. He is constantly trying to get me to read them and tells me that when I start the series plan to read them all back to back to back. I am sure I will get to this series eventually and when I do I will enjoy them as much as he did.
Lunch time reading. I realized this morning my kindle fit perfectly in my purse. Of course, this was hectic workday so I barely got to sit down and eat much less read.
My latest #libraryhaul! I had a couple books to return anyway but when both Iron Cast and The Sun Is Also A Star were available to pick up, I had to get there. I also picked up The Darkest Minds while I was there. I read Passenger earlier this year and wanted to pick up more by Bracken before Wayfarer comes out next year.

When you're reading a book and you want the eReader version so you can read it in bed while your husband sleeps, you simply just get the ebook version from the library too.
(Also this book has been on my radar for awhile and it is everything I dreamed it'd be.)
Showing off my favorite car for #NationalCatDay. I'm not convinced he can't travel time if need be but he is definitely my best pal.
I know you guys are probably sick of hearing me talk about this book but how could it not be my #recommendsday pick when I just finished it this past weekend. It's the perfect blend of the historical fiction and fantasy with a dash of humor. Cannot recommend it enough!

"Out there, men don't tremble when women speak."
Really loving this so far. I love seeing the perspectives of the different Queens and the differences in the families. Can't wait to see how everything plays out!

So the rest of yesterday's #readathon was a fail for me. My hair appointment didn't go how I planned and I ended up being out the rest of the afternoon and evening. I maybe got half an hour of reading in. But here's a picture of my kitty to make up for it!
Finished my first book for the #readathon and was getting ready to run to my hair appointment when I got a call from my stylist saying she was running late meaning more reading time for me! So excited to start this one.
"I have never been so happy to have risen before noon."
Same, Damerell. Same.

It's readathon time! I woke up a little late, but I'm ready. First up is finishing Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho. I've really been enjoying this for far and can't wait to see how it ends!
#readathon #riotread #currentlyreading
Yay book ends and book mail! Got my @bookriot #bookmail box for September today and in addition to continuing Sorcerer to the Crown with my own copy, I just had to put these bad boys up. These are some of my recent reads/books I own and love plus some of my husband's favorites too.

It's #recommendsday! Today's rec is a duology: If I Stay and Where She Went by Gayle Forman.
If I Stay tells the story of Mia and a life-altering choice she must make: to stay or to leave. Such a heart-wrenching read and you won't be able to put it down until you know her decision.
Where She Went is told through Adam's perspective, Mia's boyfriend. It goes through the consequences of Mia's choice, both the good and the bad.
In a contemporary mood tonight and giving this a shot.
I read If I Stay a couple years ago on a flight and it really moved me. This one picks up three years later and explores what happens when you're so close to the kind of tragedy in If I Stay. It's also told through Adam's perspective, which will be interesting.
It's #NationalCoffeeDay so I had to stop for coffee on the way home before curling up with my current read. Been really enjoying this so far as it's so different from the young adult contemporary I've been reading recently.
I went a little wild at the book sale for the Gayle Forman signing.
"Today is the day you have to start believing in yourself. No one can do it for you anymore."
I can tell I'll be thinking on this line for awhile.
Friday nights are for blankets, books, and Pumpkin cheesecake.
Like many, I'm a fan of Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls and after working my way through a rewatch, I've started to branch out into her other work including Parenthood and this book. I can't help picturing Franny as Lauren though.
#recommendsday All of Ally Carter's books are amazing but her latest series I think is her best yet. Grace is certain there is more to her mother's death than meets the eye but no one believes her. Certainly not her foreign diplomat grandfather she has come to live with in Adria. But when she begins to feel like she's being watched, the past begins to reveal itself. A very suspenseful and exciting reading. And it's a series!
New read at work book since I discovered I can read Overdrive books in my browser when I don't have customers. Gamechanger for sure. (But shh, don't tell my boss!)
