An interesting look at how we adjust to tech in our lives. Would you be rather have a Kentuki follow you or be the random person watching/inhabiting the Kentuki...?!? 👀

These characters popped off the page and wove an unfamiliar story of Houston. I appreciated each story and the different lenses used to capture often overlooked experiences.
An eerie sickness immediately settled in and from that moment I couldn‘t stop turning the page of this eco thriller. Such a perfect way to kick of the fall season. I suspect people with kids will find this read even more anxiety inducing.
1970‘s, West Texas in the oil town of Odessa a crime is clearly committed...but will the community look the other way in order to avoid ruining a “young mans life”..?!? 👀 An eye-opening story told through the lens of 5 different women who are threaded together by the ripples effects from the aftermath of the crime in question.
We totally loved it. 👀 It took a little adjusting to follow the “we” language but ultimately it‘s a story advocating for capitalism as the story is built around a socialist structure...I appreciate this classic story and can‘t wait to read her others. stories!
Wow, this took me by surprise. R.O. Kwon creates flawed characters that really sit somewhere deep. I can see how people fall into extreme religious thinking and it leads to unconscionable actions 👀.
Really enjoyed Winstons thoughts on his rational for taking up painting...most notably “To be really happy and really safe, one ought to have at least two or three hobbies, and they must all be real.” Great quick read!
How I love the way she captures the feelings deeply ruminating inside of me while indulging or recalling a Italian meal where one crosses the threshold of pleasure & enjoyment. I fell in love with this serendipitous find -❤️ when books just find us.
Solid collection of poems. Perfect accompaniment for outdoor sunset reading while the wind casually guided its requested selections. 😎
Enjoyed this poetic dystopian story-stitched together by the stories we‘ve heard of earths creation, or recreation. I especially enjoyed the character naming conventions & the struggles of being a first time mother with a newborn in an emerging and unstable world.
This was a gorgeous book and ❤️ how Oprah distilled her interviews from over the years to inspiration & key pieces of insight. I find each story fascinating as it relates to their personal journey.
Some facts were more enduring while others were just 😲🤭. Fun read!
Moody girl poetry.
Omg @mngraham I just buddy the elf jumped up and down when I opened your thoughtful gift! I have to admit I was wondering what book was soooo heavy. Now it makes perfect sense! 😄 Thank you so much! #penpal2019 I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday!
Can‘t wait to read the poetry book! But these glass straws are soo beautiful! Thanks for my Thanksgiving #penpal2019 package @mngraham I practically ran home to open the package!
If I could give this 5 pick‘s I would! The arrangement of these short stories helped illuminate POV‘s rarely told through the lens of a multigenerational family perspective and women of color. Some of them broke me in ways I wasn‘t expecting. My 2019 favorite read! The book cover alone...❤️❤️🙌🙌
An autobiography served up in a graphic novel vehicle. I enjoyed reading the narrators experience living and growing up in a war struck Iran. Spending your young adolescent years away from your family and no support system isn‘t as nice as one would think. War doesn‘t just leave behind dead bodies in its path, in some cases it leaves schizophrenic zombies behind...🧟♀️🧟🧟♂️
A psychological mystery slowly stitched together with prose that adds a gritty accent to the setting- Naples. Heartbreak associated with the slow boil of Mother-Daughter turmoil -where tears cease to exist & in its place...a feeling of deep heaviness. ❤️Ferrante‘s writing
@mngraham loooooved the card! Finally got home to open your package...it‘s been difficult not opening the package...last night I almost convinced myself that I would just have a small peek...but decided against doing so. Haha🙌👏 thank you so much! #penpal2019 so excited!
Catching up on life and excited to read everyone‘s cards/ a surprise #litsypenpal2019...(sorry it‘s taken so long). @LapReader @mngraham @phatsallylee @BookNAround @Kdgordon88
@JamieLou I‘m Halloween ready today thanks to your lovely Halloween 📦 last year! I‘ve been counting down the days to finally wear it!
Cue the pounding heartbeat, sweaty palms, and overwhelming uneasy-sympathetic vibes for poor Nora. I tend to think nefarious plans involving memory loss with no potential resolution are quite scary. With friends like these, I‘d bail/avoid my past all together as well. Classic who done it...with a side of cattiness, Ouija board, and booze.
Piano key teeth...what a lovely description for this sinisterly looking creature. I wolfed...(haha) these stories down. No luck needed. Big 🙏 to @lele1432 for sending this in my #screamathonswap package!
Part two- you just saw my happy dance...now stand back & witness my elated hyperventilating dance. You hit the nail in the head...where did you find the graphic novel and perfect book bag? Omg! I can NOT wait to add these to my October reading list! ❤️your theme of creepy houses in the woods! Consider yourself an A+ gifter! Themes to gifts are my jam! Haha You definitely made October amazingly scary! Thank you so much!
Part one- @lele1432 this is my interpretation of a happy dance....👯♀️👯♂️🤩🎃 I was beyond excited to get home to open my #screamswap package and boy, am I glad I didn‘t open it before I went to work...otherwise I would‘ve been bouncing off the walls. Clearly, I have no control when it comes to my favorite candies! 😁😊 where did you find the NBF PEZ?!? I love it thank you sooo much!
#screamathon #screamathonswap 2019 guess what I just picked up from my mailbox...haha this was quite creative! Will I be open I gotta Pandora‘s box upon opening on 10/01?!? 😬🤔 should I open one before the other?! Thank your for being #extra! I love it already!
Happy banned books week & my last (day 7) #7days7covers. What are you reading to celebrate banned books week?!
@lele1432 @4thhouseontheleft had to restrain myself when I picked this up this evening! #screamathon it will be torture to wait until the 1st! That‘s the true horror. 😆😂.
#screamathon @4thhouseontheleft part one will arrive by Friday @lele1432 part 2 will arrive next week. Logistical issues because I was turned away at the post office...haha. Fear not!
#7days7covers (day2) ❤️Jurgis
Best #penpal2019 @mngraham ! Loved the illustrations and especially loved the poem for September!
Sorry I saw this a little late, but I‘m super excited!
1. Reese‘s pieces, candy corn or sour patch kids 2. I prefer heart palpitating spooky. 😳
3. Bookmarks, wooden embroidery hoops or talismans (rabbits lately). 4. It has to be Abigail Williams. #screamathonswap
I‘ve been waiting to post until after our book club meeting! The story quickly informs the reader what to expect but at some point, similar to the neighborhood boys, you have to be ok with knowing there‘s no answers to the questions. Otherwise, you too will spend your entire life trying to put the clues together only to come up to another dead end...
This was recommended to me by a friend and I can see why they were drawn to it. Understanding the path forward isn‘t always an easy thing to swallow...or do.
Wow, the entire time I could hear Anthony Bourdain‘s voice narrating & providing contextual anchors. Mary Mallon was just trying to live her best life. Unfortunately she was carrying a very contagious disease & at the time it became somewhat of a witch hunt. I sympathize with the fact that for much of the time, she didn‘t have any inclination that she was the source. Don‘t read if you‘re already freaked out by 🦠 ‘s.
#LitsyATXReaderssociety Saturday group-#Ownvoice. Enjoyed meeting @k.reads & discussing our monthly picks!
Am I the only person who feels akin to Margaret and her ‘reading nook‘?!? Minus the frog entrapped in a jar...🧐😆.
Omg! Came home to a wonderful surprise from my #penpal2019 @mngraham ! You‘re the best, I‘m so glad to hear from you. Totally made my longgg day special, THANK YOU! 😃 Can‘t wait to start Dull Margaret!
While traveling I found this signed edition with the inscription: Sarah Aurelia Vance. #242 of 750 copies. It‘s an interesting short story about a young boy with a “wild thing trapped in his eye”....I guess I have an unofficial summer theme: evil that will betide.😳
