Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story | Alexander Freed
Go beyond the film with a novelization featuring new scenes and expanded material. As the shadows of the Empire loom ever larger across the galaxy, so do deeply troubling rumors. The Rebellion has learned of a sinister Imperial plot to bring entire worlds to their knees. Deep in Empire-dominated space, a machine of unimaginable destructive power is nearing completion. A weapon too terrifying to contemplate . . . and a threat that may be too great to overcome. If the worlds at the Empire s mercy stand any chance, it lies with an unlikely band of allies: Jyn Erso, a resourceful young woman seeking vengeance; Cassian Andor, a war-weary rebel commander; Bodhi Rook, a defector from the Empire s military; Chirrut Imwe, a blind holy man and his crack-shot companion, Baze Malbus; and K-2SO, a deadly Imperial droid turned against its former masters. In their hands rests the new hope that could turn the tide toward a crucial Rebellion victory if only they can capture the plans to the Empire s new weapon. But even as they race toward their dangerous goal, the specter of their ultimate enemy a monstrous world unto itself darkens the skies. Waiting to herald the Empire s brutal reign with a burst of annihilation worthy of its dreaded name: Death Star."

So, I loved this particular movie because I don‘t know, it just hit differently than all the other ones. I had no clue about the ending until the end and I cried. My husband thought I knew already because it's mentioned in one of the movies, don't ask me which one...but I don't retain that much or always know what's going on...so...yeah. But anyhow, it was super cool to get inside their heads and all.

I really love this movie and the little extras in the book are fantastic. Brodhi was far more interesting in the book and K-2SO is definitely one my favorite droids. I can't wait to see the Cassian Andor series when it finally come on 💙

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I thought they did a good job with this sort-of trilogy of books leading up to the movie‘s tie in. 3y

Alexander Freed does something that many authors don‘t do as effectively: he is able to get inside the mind of many different characters throughout his stories and this novelization is no exception.

This novel adds so much to the amazing film and helps you to better understand the motivations behind characters and their actions. This book is absolutely incredible, if you enjoyed the film, you‘ll enjoy this novel.

CrowCAH This movie has grown on me. Initially I didn‘t like it because there was no Jedi. It‘s a well crafted movie with a beautiful storyline. So I cannot hate it, to me it‘s part of the Star Wars canon. 3y
LMAN8BSA @CrowCAH I was also hesitant with the absence of the Jedi but I also have grown to love this one a lot. (edited) 3y

Thought we‘d go with the other way with adaptations! 🎥👉🏻📕

1. I‘ve read quite a few of the Star Wars ones. 😁
2. Sometimes. More recent ones, yes.
3. Inception. That movie is bananas and I want more.

Even knowing how this one is going to end, I still teared up...it probably didn‘t help reading them as a trilogy, everyone you grew close to over the 3 Rogue One novels mets an unfortunate end. But this backstory of ordinary people resisting, resisting with every once of will in them, giving it all and then sacrificing even more, it‘s the backdrop to a story we know, but it‘s only through the struggle of past generations, that the next knows Hope.

I‘ve always loved how the Star Wars universe has portrayed the affection between droids and their human counterparts...in the rebellion there is always some compassion there, some shared interests....L3 would have approved.

Shout out to my four favorite books I read in 2017! Six of Crows, A Man Called Ove, Rogue Heroes, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. A YA fantasy, thought provoking contemporary fiction, a British WWII history, and Star Wars - that about captures my reading interests! 😆Also I have to include a shout out to @BookFreakOut and my book club, who introduced me to two of these picks. #2017reads #endofyearlist Happy reading in 2018!

Oh, the feels! ?This book is even more heartbreaking and powerful than the movie. It highlights the thoughts and struggles of each character. These Rebels are ordinary, broken people who found the courage to do the impossible. Makes "A New Hope" so much more poignant. This is easily my favorite book in the new Star Wars canon; highly recommend!

Finally got to see the movie last night and I loved it!! I haven't read any Star Wars books yet (mostly because there are so many I don't know where to start!) so I'm going to start with this one. Has anyone read it? Any other Star Wars books recommendations?

ReadingVampire Okay so this is the deal with the Star Wars books situation. When Lucas owned the rights he let anyone add books to the series, kinda like fanfic. But when Disney bought it they decided that the books that were out didn't flow with their storyline. So if you want to read the books that actually have something to do with the current events they have to have the Disney seal of approval. On good reads you can find the Disney reading order. Very good. 7y
emily_jkn My favorite book of the new canon is Lost Stars by Claudia Grey. It's a standalone story that takes place during the original trilogy so it's a great place to dip your toes in! Two best friends become officers in the Empire and then one defects to the Rebelliom 7y
