So all of these lovely books came from my favorite book exchange except for the three where the arrows is pointing and the fitbook. Cost less then my budget and I still have money for the rest of the month for a book or two without feeling guilty 😍😋📖👍🏼

Made it to Asheville, North Carolina and had to share this with my fellow Littens - the coolest bookstore ever 😍 champagne bar and book exchange/used book store. Battery Park Book Exchange. Highly recommend checking this place out if you come this way. Currently settling in with a glass of vino tinto and a charcuterie board in the “civil war” section.

Aims42 Very cool! I‘m actually reading the tagged book lol hope you have fun!! (edited) 6y
Susanita I ❤️ Asheville. 6y
TheSpineView Your in my home town! You need to check out Malaprops while you are in the AVL. A great indie book store! 😊 6y

Smartypants @Wan.der.love I ❤️Asheville! I‘m from NC too and agree with @TheSpineView Malaprop‘s is amazing too! So many great restaurants in Asheville too! How I miss Tupelo Hone Cafe—the best biscuits ever! 6y
TheSpineView @Smartypants ❤ Tupelo Hone. If you love biscuits you have to go to Biscuit Head. Nothing else like it! 6y
Smartypants @TheSpineView I‘m going to have to check that out. Mmmm...biscuits! 6y
RidgewayGirl Oh, no! Malaprops is enough of a lure without adding another road trip-worthy bookstore to Asheville! 6y
Wan.der.love @Aims42 went to the Biltmore on Friday to see the Chihuly exhibit that is there currently - gorgeous! 6y
Wan.der.love @Susanita me too 😄😄 6y
Wan.der.love @TheSpineView @Smartypants definitely checked out Malaprops!! Loved it ☺️☺️ and stayed across the street from Tupelo Hone 😂😂 such a cool city 6y
Wan.der.love @RidgewayGirl Asheville has so many fun spots - could spend days checking them all out 😍 6y
TheSpineView @Wan.der.love 😊 6y
Smartypants @Wan.der.love I‘m glad you loved it! It is one of my favorite cities in the States. Next time, check out Jack of the Wood, a Celtic bar with beautiful wood and Celtic live music. So charming! 6y

🙌 Just signed up for this unique book club! Now to pick a book... #lmpbc

Wife Yay! #groupR 📚 7y
thebluestocking @Wife Yes! I‘m pumped. 7y
thebluestocking @Wife @LikelyLibrarian @StephanieGeiser #GroupR #LMPBC Pondering books. Do we want to consider any kind of theme or just go at it? 7y
See All 37 Comments
LikelyLibrarian I don‘t know. A theme would almost ensure that we‘d like every book, but I kinda like the idea of being encouraged to read something I might have otherwise overlooked. What do y‘all think? 7y
StephanieGeiser Either way is fine by me! I pulled some books off my shelf tonight as I was contemplating what I‘d like to contribute. I pulled 5 options - 2 YA, 2 classics (65 & 61 y/o), and a contemporary fiction. It is likely that some of these books will be rereads for some of you. Is that something I should try to avoid? 7y
thebluestocking Hmm. I personally don‘t think I would mind a reread if it was a “deep” enough book, you know what I mean? Might even make the annotations better. Tonight I pulled out a literary fiction, two classics, and two nonfiction books for consideration. I‘m cool with either a theme (though I‘d vote for broad like classics) or not. 7y
Wife @LikelyLibrarian @StephanieGeiser Theme or no theme is ok, no preference. Last time, in my group, we posted book choices and sort of took votes on what to read. I also saw that some groups kept choices secret. What do you prefer? Any genres that any of you really dislike? I‘m not a big sci-fi or fantasy fan, but I will read if chosen. I‘m looking forward to to reading with all of you🌹 7y
thebluestocking I‘m not a huge horror fan, but I‘ll keep an open mind if it‘s chosen. 😉 I kind of like the idea of posting, say, our top three choices and having a little vote. But I‘m also good with everyone just going for their gut on it. I like the secret option the least. I want to discuss as we go! @Wife @LikelyLibrarian @StephanieGeiser 7y
Wife I‘m going to start browsing my stacks. I know page limit was 7y
StephanieGeiser @Wife @LikelyLibrarian @thebluestocking Since there doesn‘t seem to be a strong call for a theme I say we just go for it but let each other vote on the top 3 or 4 choices from each person. That way we‘ll get books we know the others are at least interested in even if they don‘t coordinate thematically. 7y
StephanieGeiser In terms of genre- I‘m also not a big fan of horror (thriller is ok!) or fantasy (though I loved Harry Potter) but I‘ll give anything a shot once. I‘d say a little over 400 pages is fine. Maybe not beyond about 425, though? 7y
LikelyLibrarian I concur. I love thriller, YA, literary fiction, mystery, dystopian novels, but not a big fan of horror. I‘m okay with going over 400—a bit, but while I read a lot, I‘m a fairly slow reader. And I love the idea of posting our top three picks. That way we can avoid repeats and serious triggers. (I don‘t have any triggers, btw.) @Wife @StephanieGeiser @thebluestocking (edited) 7y
LikelyLibrarian Here are my picks, chosen from my TBR list: The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert (part suspense/part fantasy); Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (literary fiction); The Power by Naomi Alderman (dystopian) @Wife @StephanieGeiser @thebluestocking (edited) 7y
thebluestocking @LikelyLibrarian @Wife @StephanieGeiser Oh. Good picks. I loved Little Fires Everywhere and would not mind a reread at all. I‘m interested in reading The Power as well. I don‘t know anything about The Hazel Wood. 7y
thebluestocking Here are my three picks: 1) Housekeeping, by Marilynne Robinson (literary fiction, 2004, 218 pgs.); 2) The Bell Jar, by Sylvia Plath (classic, 1963, 288 pgs.); 3) Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson (nonfiction re US criminal justice, 2014, 368 pgs.) 7y
LikelyLibrarian @thebluestocking I‘m good with any of those, but if I had to pick a favorite of the three, I‘d probably pick Just Mercy. 7y
Wife @thebluestocking @LikelyLibrarian @StephanieGeiser Any of the above choices would be fine. I‘m most interested in Little Fires Everywhere and Just Mercy. See what you think of these: My Cousin Rachel by Du Maurier, Defending Jacob by Landay, or The Velvet Hours by Richman. 7y
thebluestocking @Wife Those are fun picks! I‘m fine with any of those but am most interested in My Cousin Rachel. 7y
LikelyLibrarian @Wife I‘m interested in Little Fires Everywhere too, but @thebluestocking has read it already, so I‘ll probably go with The Power if @StephanieGeiser gives the okay. I‘m reading it with my dystopian fiction students now and it‘s fascinating! I love your selection. Defending Jacob‘s been on my list for awhile, but I also like the sound of My Cousin Rachel. Have you read Du Maurier‘s Rebecca? 7y
Wife @LikelyLibrarian Rebecca is tied with Jane Eyre as my all time favorite! I can never choose between them❤️ 7y
LikelyLibrarian @Wife Jane Eyre is my favorite book. I wrote my Masters Thesis on it. I‘ll have to send you a picture of my collection of Jane Eyre stuff 😏 7y
Wife Oh my goodness @LikelyLibrarian I would love ❤️ to see that! 7y
thebluestocking I ❤️ Jane Eyre too!! @LikelyLibrarian @Wife 7y
thebluestocking So, I think I‘ll go with Just Mercy, assuming @StephanieGeiser is cool with it. 7y
StephanieGeiser @thebluestocking I‘m good with Just Mercy! @LikelyLibrarian I‘ve been wanting an excuse to read The Power! Count me in! 7y
LikelyLibrarian @StephanieGeiser Excellent! It looks like it‘s shaping up to be an eclectic reading list - much like my own book shelf 😏 7y
StephanieGeiser @wife Defending Jacob would be my top choice. My Cousin Rachel would be my second. 7y
Wife @StephanieGeiser @thebluestocking @LikelyLibrarian I‘m going to go with Defending Jacob. I‘m excited about other choices so far. Maybe if all goes well, a buddy read of My Cousin Rachel someday? 7y
StephanieGeiser @thebluestocking @LikelyLibrarian @Wife My choices (sorry it‘s taken so long!)- Being Mortal by Atul Gawande; The History of Love by Nicole Krauss; Option B by Sheryl Sandburg; Bonus Round (in case the others don‘t strike your fancy): The Giver by Lois Lowry (a favorite that would be fun to reread and discuss as an adult) 7y
Wife @StephanieGeiser I‘m up for reading any of these. Being Mortal has been on my TBR. 7y
LikelyLibrarian @StephanieGeiser These are all great picks. While The Giver is a personal favorite of mine, I‘m guessing most of us have read it. @thebluestocking chose a non-fiction, so for that reason, I might go with The History of Love (it sounds like a book for book lovers), but I‘m equally interested inBeing Mortal. 7y
LikelyLibrarian @Wife Sounds like a plan! 7y
thebluestocking @StephanieGeiser Lovely choices! I‘m good with any of them. I read The History of Love years ago and loved it. I wouldn‘t mind a reread at all. I‘ve read and loved The Giver too. Both Being Mortal and Option B are on my TBR. 7y
StephanieGeiser It sounds like everyone is interested in Being Mortal. So as long as @LikelyLibrarian doesn‘t mind reading two nonfiction books in this swap I think I‘ll go with that one. @Wife @thebluestocking 7y
LikelyLibrarian @StephanieGeiser I‘m fine with that plan. All excellent picks! I‘m excited y‘all! 7y
thebluestocking @LikelyLibrarian @Wife @StephanieGeiser I agree. Great lineup. I can‘t wait! 7y
Wife Looking forward to it! 7y

#LitsyQuestions
1. #secretsantagoespostal , #bookmarkswap
2. Singing carols and Long reading sessions after Christmas.
3. Not particular to this time of year. But I would recommend the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.
4. All of it.
5. Love, but homemade is best.
6. Love snow
7. Not at all.

DivaDiane I lied (basically because I forgot I pre-ordered it!), but I might get around to reading Mrs. Claus: Not the Fairy Tale They Say, by Rhonda Parrish (it‘s not on the Litsy database) 7y
GypsyKat I love long reading sessions after Christmas! 🎄❤️📚 7y
DivaDiane It‘s about the only time I can do a reading marathon. 7y

OMG! Thank you so much @MinDea for the #letsgetcozy package. I love it so much. I totally freak out when I saw the turtle mug and bookmark. I definitely going use the mug tomorrow for the coffee. Also the book that has Abigail name is adorable. Can't wait to start reading these books. Also, the Starbucks gift card is awesome . I just went there today and going need more when I start school back next week. Thank you so much again. 😊💕📚🐢.

MinDea Yay! I am glad you like the turtle mug and bookmark. I hope you like the books! I don't know if they necessarily count as "cozy mysteries" but they are mysteries! 7y
coffeewithbooks @MinDea thanks so much . I can't wait to read them. Can't wait to show Abigail her book when she wake up. I been looking everywhere to find one with her name on it. 7y
MinDea I love getting kids books with their name in them. It's just something so unique and personalized. I got my niece this book for xmas a couple years ago. Maybe you can get one for abby? They have a couple different ones but I liked this one the best. https://www.wonderbly.com/en-US/personalized-products/lost-my-name-book 7y
coffeewithbooks @MinDea thank you . I will check it out . I have to get my nephew something due soon 7y
