Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye: A Lisbeth Salander Novel, Continuing Stieg Larsson's Millennium Series
Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye: A Lisbeth Salander Novel, Continuing Stieg Larsson's Millennium Series | David Lagercrantz
113 posts | 124 read | 2 reading | 67 to read
From the author of the #1 international best seller The Girl in the Spider's Web: the new book in the Millennium series, which began with Stieg Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Lisbeth Salander, the girl with the dragon tattoo, the brilliant hacker, the obstinate outsider, the volatile seeker of justice for herself and others--even she has never been able to uncover the most telling facts of her traumatic childhood, the secrets that might finally, fully explain her to herself. Now, when she sees a chance to uncover them once and for all, she enlists the help of Mikael Blomkvist, the editor of the muckraking, investigative journal Millennium. And she will let nothing stop her--not the Islamists she enrages by rescuing a young woman from their brutality; not the prison gang leader who passes a death sentence on her; not the deadly reach of her long-lost twin sister, Camilla; and not the people who will do anything to keep buried knowledge of a sinister pseudoscientific experiment known only as The Registry. Once again, Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist, together, are the fierce heart of a thrilling full-tilt novel that takes on some of the most insidious problems facing the world at this very moment.

Onto book 5/6 as vacation winds to a close 😭
I remember not caring much for Lagercrantz versions of the series but in fairness it's been years. I'm giving this a shot.

I just love Lisbeth Salander! She is such a badass and at this moment in time, I‘m all about cheering on a complicated badass. Another great twisty thriller, solid characters, great pacing, just escapist fun with a dark edge. And the #audio narrator is top notch.

Better than the last one although that may be because I don‘t expect Larsson‘s “voice”. The story was predictable again but then all of them are a bit predictable.
I‘m really tired of the character Mikael Blomkvist. It has little to do with the story, except that he ends up in this amazing relationship with whatever woman is connected or sort of connected to the story/mystery and he‘s so happy. Then in the next book nope she‘s gone. 🙄

I‘m going to keep going. Maybe now that I‘ve gotten through 1 of the not Larsson books I am better equipped to follow this one.

If you read The Girl in the Spiders Web, this book started out similarly and I wasn‘t too sure about it at first. But then it got extremely interesting! It takes about the continuation of genetic research after WWII in Sweden and how it lead to this very interesting plot! A research group where they are trying to find a way to create the “perfect Swede”. Very interesting!

Quite a few interesting plot twists. Even though there were three storylines playing out it flowed and connected well during the novel‘s climax.

I was sorely disappointed in the previous book (#4) in the Millennium series. To me, it felt nothing like Stieg Larsson‘s original three, and at that time I swore I was done with the series. But I had a change of heart because I really did miss the characters of Salander & Blomkvist, and so decided to give this one (#5) a try. I was pleasantly surprised. This one was much better than the last.

perfectsinner I checked this out from the library recently with much trepidation as I also didn't care for Lagercrantz' version of Lisbeth. No one can replace Larsson... Lagercrantz version seems completely different to me. I'm still unsure of whether to give it a shot or not 😐 2y

While I enjoyed this book and found it to be a worthy addition to the Millennium series, I feel it lacked focus. Too many storylines resulted in a lack of depth for all. It definitely could have been better but was a fun read.

I think Lagencrantz (sp?) has ruined this series. If you‘re looking for a story that involves Salander & Blomkvist, eating sandwiches and good crime aspects look for another book... cause you won‘t find it in this one! (Side note; waaaay too many characters). 2/5.

I liked this this one (#5 in the Lisbeth Salander) better than the last one. It read more like Stieg Larsson's first three. A lot of storylines going at once.

#ReadingResolutions Day 23: Central to the narrative is a social scientific experiment gone wrong, #BookTwins torn apart (including Lisbeth Salander and her psycho twin), what life in prison is like, and the prevailing issue of otherness. The story remains readable. However, I found the differing timelines presented in different typography jarring and unnecessary. My full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-iNW

There were too many threads going on at once, which made it hard to follow and painfully slow for the most part. I‘m glad I persevered as the last 50 pages were better and got more exciting, but there was too much description and background and not enough action for me.

I‘ve enjoyed all of these books and I actually think the author has done a great job taking over an already wonderful series, however I feel the plot in this one lacked some of the excitement from the previous books. It wasn‘t a bad story but I felt it was just building and then it was over. I love the characters of Lisbeth and Mikael though and they shone through as always. Enjoyed it but probably didn‘t love it as much as the others.

Mostly unrelated photo of a golf shoe I bought in Minnesota. I attempted to listen to this audiobook during my drive back to Missouri a few weeks ago. Lost interest at some point. My loan expired with a couple hours left to go, but I really didn't care. Forgot I had even been reading it until I saw it on my Litsy profile.

Beckys_Books In case anyone wonders, I did actually buy both shoes! 6y

I suppose this is technically my last #VacationRead, as I started it at the airport in Montréal and finished it today while at home! I‘m thankful that I took this rainy Monday off to have a day to relax before returning to work!! ??? As for this fifth installment of the Millennium series, I think it‘s better than the fourth (I‘m a sucker for #twins!) but still lacking the sparkle of the original books and relies too heavily on telling...

And done....Definitely missing Steig Larssons writing in the last two books but still a pretty good read.

cherinium I recently bought The Girl in the Spider's Web, but haven't read it yet. I've been really hesitant to venture into this world again with a new author. The trilogy was just SO good! 7y
Tianarose @cherinium, the trilogy is amazing, I found the 4th and 5th to be a little lacking Steigs touch, however I was so vested in Lisbeth and Mikael adventures that I couldn‘t resist reading them. And despite all that they were still good. 7y

I enjoyed this book but it lacked the sparkle that Stieg Larsson gave to Lisbeth Salander. I know it's got to be hard to take over for an author and I think David Lagercrantz should be commended. I just would have liked to see what Larsson would have done for Salander character. The research on the study of twins was very interesting and made the plot a lot more fascinating. Can't wait for the next book to see what Lizbeth and Blomkvist are up to.

#ReadingResolutions Day 6: I am a huge fan of the Stieg Larsson novels - perfect for the #suspense prompt today and really looking forward to reading this latest book in the series. I have a feeling The Trespasser of Tana French would fit the bill too. Love the edge and noir aspect of European #suspense novelists. Both are #ReviewCopies provided by my fave book distributor. 😍📚

I honestly don‘t know why I‘m still reading this series. I guess I just feel like I‘ve already invested in them, so I might as well keep going (this is also why I‘m still watching Grey‘s Anatomy-it‘s too late to turn back now). Anyway, this book is fine-if you liked the others in the series, you‘ll enjoy this one too 🤷🏻‍♀️ These new books aren‘t as good as the original trilogy, but it‘s fun to check in with the characters.

RaimeyGallant I feel like I would have to re-read them, because I remember so little. 7y
