I am in the middle of And Then She Fell. I loved it immediately but now I am not so sure anymore. So for now I stick to these six favorites for the #WomenPrize shortlist (which I know is exactly the same as yours, Helen!). If I change my mind again after a few more chapters of ATSF and before the announcement on Wednesday morning, I‘ll add it and remove Enter Ghost (with pain in my heart).

jlhammar Love your bookends! I‘m for sure rooting for Brotherless Night and Ordinary Human Failings. Have yet to read the others on your shortlist. 7mo
BarbaraBB @jlhammar Your kind of books I think! 7mo

I REALLY LOVED both Victory City and Tom Lake ! Mama Love, Kala and Come Fly were #GoodNotGreat
Happiness Falls is an ARC which I was really looking forward to but it‘s not meeting my expectations. I‘ve been wavering between a total pan and so-so. Still have another 100 pages to go, maybe it‘ll get better 🤪

Deblovestoread Great week! Just started the Rushdie and loving it so far. 1y
squirrelbrain I too loved both the Rushdie and Tom Lake this week! #booktwins 👯‍♀️ 1y
TrishB Tom Lake was lovely ❤️ 1y

Cinfhen They were such different books @squirrelbrain but each was so special! I hope you enjoy the Rushdie @Deblovestoread truly imaginative!! 1y
Cinfhen Perfect description @TrishB nothing gimmicky - just a heartfelt story about appreciating the life you‘ve built 1y
TrishB C asked me whether she would like it and I said no. Because I wouldn‘t have at 22. But at 55 I appreciated every word and every subliminal message. 1y
Cinfhen Yes, I think you need to be of a certain age to appreciate Tom Lake @TrishB 😘 1y
Bookzombie I think you have convinced me that if I have time this month I might try the Rushdie. Maybe, lol. 1y
Cinfhen I was really scared to take on Rushdie @Bookzombie but I REALLY loved it. From page one it just grabbed me!! LMK if you pick it up!!! 1y

When your work week consisted of Mercury in retrograde AND a full moon, a trip to the library during your Friday lunch is required 🫠 Went in for “Vera Wong‘s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers” and walked out with “The Twyford Code” and “The Bandit Queens” 🤷🏼‍♀️😇 Hello, weekend!!!

Suet624 Today I walked out of the library with “The Bandit Queens“ as well! 2y
Aims42 @Suet624 YAY!! #BookTwins 👯‍♀️📖 I‘ve heard great things 2y
Suet624 I heard it was humorous and I need that! 2y
Aims42 @Suet624 Same! The cover blurb, “This book is comfort food for the soul” got me. Yes, please 🙋‍♀️ 2y

A bit of a late #BookReport because I was very sick Sun-Tues. These are just what I read through Sun.

Old Flame was exceptional! It took on adoption, friendship, creativity, and motherhood just beautifully! I wanted it for #CampLitsy23, but there isn‘t a UK pub date. ☹️ JBLAH took on disability in the gay community with humor and heart. Pathogenesis is a must read for medical history and anthropology nerds. 🙋🏻‍♀️ more ⬇️

Megabooks Benediction wasn‘t as impressive as the rest of the Plainsong trilogy. The Last Animal was not out in the UK in time for CL, and the scientific parts were way off base, but read as a story of family and grief, it was good! Cabin 10 is my third and last Ware read for #authoramonth, and I enjoyed it! Koresh is the best of the three Waco books I‘ve read that came out this year, but at 14 hours, it‘s also the longest! More of a bio than others. 2y
Megabooks Without Children was an interesting topic (about women who are not mothers, like me) but completely forgettable book. Upstairs was also forgettable. Survivors belongs on the row above but there was no room. It‘s one of the better Miranda books, and I liked the narration! 👍🏻👍🏻 (edited) 2y
Soubhiville Hope you are feeling better. 2y

squirrelbrain Old Flame sounds fabulous! I shall keep an eye out for it coming out over here…. 🤞 2y
Megabooks @Soubhiville I am! Thanks 💜 2y
Megabooks @squirrelbrain I think you‘d like it. 🤞🏻 for a UK release! 2y
sarahbarnes Looks like some good reads! Hope you‘re on the mend. 2y
AmyG Glad yo read you are better. Stacked Old Flame. 2y
Cinfhen Excellent book report 😍sorry you weren‘t feeling well but im happy to know you‘re on the mend xx 2y
Deblovestoread Glad you are on the mend. The pic in the lower left is very dramatic! 2y
LeahBergen I‘m intrigued by the Koresh book. 2y
Megabooks @sarahbarnes I am! Thanks 😁 2y
Megabooks @AmyG fantastic!! I hope you enjoy it. 2y
Megabooks @Cinfhen thanks! There was a single cube of chicken in my vegetarian Chipotle, and I swallowed a bit and got very sick. I was shaking and weak and lost a couple of pounds, but fortunately it was only that little bit. So I guess I still can‘t eat meat. 🤷🏻‍♀️☹️ 2y
Megabooks @Deblovestoread thanks! I‘ve really enjoyed snapping pics in the yard this spring and loved the drama of that night! 2y
Megabooks @LeahBergen it was the best of the Waco books this year. I felt he did a better job of getting in Koresh‘s head rather than just the dynamics of the stand-off. 2y
Cinfhen Wow! I hadn‘t realized you were still eating only vegetarian all this time! Sorry you had a flare up but glad you‘re feeling better. 2y
LeahBergen Thanks! I‘ll add it to my list. 👍 2y
Chelsea.Poole We are such #booktwins. So many of these are on my radar, but you always get to them first 👏 I trust your opinion so I always prioritize what you like. Old Flame just got bumped up!! Glad you‘re feeling better! 2y
Megabooks @Chelsea.Poole we are!! And thank you. I always love seeing what you‘re reading! I am a bit partial to the new releases for better or worse. 😂 enjoy Old Flame! I‘m really glad my library put it on my radar. 2y

Thanks for the tags @Cinfhen @youneverarrived 😘Here is my #top21of21, in no particular order. There were another 10 or so books that were very borderline and that I could have included.

I know lots of people have already been tagged, have you posted yours yet? I‘d love to see your favourites! @Oryx @julesG @scripturient @Librarybelle @Hooked_on_books @jhod

Cinfhen 💕💕💕 3y
Librarybelle Thanks for the tag! I‘ll have to think about my selections…🤔 3y
julesG Oh. Great idea and great books among your top 21. I'll post mine later. Need to have a bit of a think first. 3y

TrishB We have 6 the same, I‘ve screenshot for further temptations! 3y
Ruthiella It is hard to whittle it down! I had quite a few that were borderline... 3y
squirrelbrain There were a few on your list that were borderline on mine @TrishB #booktwins. It is SO difficult to whittle down isn‘t it? @Ruthiella 3y
TrishB Yes, same 😁 3y
LeahBergen I‘m a bit scared to start making my list 😆 3y
Oryx There's about 10 of yours that will probably be on mine too! Will have a think 3y
BarbaraBB I love your choices Helen 🤍 3y
KarenUK Love your picks! We match 4, and there are lots on your list that are on my TBR for next year! (edited) 3y
Chelsea.Poole Great choices! Happy to see this made your list, I think about it often and feel like it‘s a bit underrated. 3y
squirrelbrain I agree @Chelsea.Poole - there was a bit of a buzz about it wasn‘t there, and then it all went quiet. 3y

Pickpick

Who would have thought a book about tv shows could be so dense, deep, and intellectual? This is an excellent examination of our culture through the medium of television. Some shows she discussed I‘ve never seen, others a few episodes, and some I‘ve been a dedicated fan of. Spoilers are everywhere, naturally! I did stop reading the Sopranos section because I plan to watch that at some point. This has to be the best book about tv out there! 📺

Megabooks Great review! I enjoyed this too. 👯‍♀️ 4y

Here‘s my #bookspinbingo list for February. (How is it February already? Not that I‘m complaining!)

I have somehow picked a fair few books with really long titles! I‘ve also added #netgalley ARCs as I haven‘t read any for quite a while and I‘m now a week or two behind publication on a few of them.

Looking forward to the 2nd Sarah, as ever!

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! 4y
Caroline2 Ohhhh I have Henrietta too!!! 😆 👍 #YouSickOfMyBuddyReadsYet??? 4y
