The art was good and the story was not bad, I just didn‘t connect with the character.

I am always amazed what Neil Gaiman comes up with. I enjoyed this one. The ending surprised me.
#AdelesMayMashUp Day 15: #WaterUnderTheBridge could also have a troll lounging about. I hesitate to call this Gaiman story a picturebook as it seems more like a coming-of-age illustrated novella. If you appreciate stories with a dab of the creepy in them, this one‘s for you.

I really love Neil Gaiman's novels so when I chanced upon this graphic novel I thought I'd give it a shot. It has some wonderfully done drawings and the story is interesting (although obviously very short). Overall I enjoyed it even though I really don't think GNs are really my thing.
1. 💸 I want this lovely, fuzzy (!) quilt. But also...Confession Time: I‘ve been thinking a lot lately about buying a sweet vintage troll doll & crafting outfits for it (e.g. a tiny embroidered t-shirt that reads “feminist AF”). I might be losing my mind...
2. 🥜 Peanut m&m‘s only!
3. 🔮 Lev Grossman‘s “Magicians” series.
4. 💃🏼 I desperately wanted to be Janet Jackson‘s background dancer.😅 #dreambig

At first I thought this was going to be another case of Gaiman not translating well. His works are just so locked into their written medium. But the long get I read this one the more it seemed to work. Maybe even better than it had originally as it had a very Sandman feel to it. Not one of my favorites of his stories but definitely and interesting one.
Coming-of-age graphic novel but with a fantasy Gaiman twist.
A cute story that at first seems like a kids tale but soon turns out much more gaiman.
Preparing Gaiman's 'Troll Bridge' and 'A Study in Emerald' for my seminar on Friday. I'm excited to hear what my students think about the two stories. ❤️
I usually love Neil Gaiman but this adult graphic novel didn't do much for me.
It doesn't feel original. The surprise ending isnt so surprising. I didn't get the "magical turn-of-phrase" feeling that I usually get from reading a Gaiman. Some of the illustrations are dreamy, which contrasts nicely with the text - but that's the best I can say. I'm underwhelmed. I did appreciate that the jerk got what was coming to him, like in any good fairytale.
Good story. Well written. Good illustrations. Overall a solid pick and quick read.
Perks of being a bookblogger! Free books! :)
#favoriteneilgaiman Probably Good Omens is my favorite but sadly, I don't own it. Ironically I just got this one at the library today so,...photo op with Dexter.
Seasonally-appropriate Colleen Doran illustration. #allhallowsread #booktober
Gorgeous illustration of the Neil Gaiman story by Colleen Doran.
Of course Neil Gaiman would write a coming-of-age story involving a troll! A slight take on the Billy Goats Gruff, this adult graphic novel has a twist I didn't see coming, and an ending that left me feeling sad. 😢
