Growing up however, the daughters start to think of themselves and their future. Told by one of them, Morgan, a great and humorous character, this is an enjoyable read.

I read 75 pages of this book before bed last night and it‘s fantastic! It reminds me of I Capture the Castle with a bit of a Little Women March family vibe thrown in (if they were wacky and mid century British). Oh, and add a bit of the Bennet sisters from Pride and Prejudice to the mixture ... with dark undertones, to boot. 😆

I adored this book! Five sisters live an idyllic, if somewhat sheltered life, in the English countryside. Realizing that they‘ll never meet interesting people or marry if this continues, the narrator (Morgan) attempts to bring the outside world to them. I was reminded of the insular world of the VIRGIN SUICIDES that the reader was never allowed into. I feel like it was a good primer for Nancy Mitford. 💋💋💋💋💋

Good morning! I have had a little reading slump which I think is due to lack of enthusiasm for the current books I picked up. So decided to chuck ‘em all and start fresh. Really enjoying this one, which I only received yesterday. I usually have a rule about a book spending some time on the shelf before reading, so this book cut the line!

EvieBee @Lesliereads I do! But always around March/April. I think this month I was full of good intentions and all these books I wanted to cross off my list, but I just wasn‘t feeling them. So put them down for now and am just focusing on enjoying what I read and not reading challenges. I put too much pressure on myself. 🤓😊 (edited) 6y

Got these two books in the mail today and was so happy! I bought 3 Penguin clothbounds in the month of December, which is unheard of for me! The 2 I owned before I bought in 2012! But this edition is so gorgeous, in navy and lime green! Also couldn‘t resist this #Persephone when I read about it this year. It‘s a 2017 release.
