The moral of this story could be: “you suffer, occasionally meet interesting people, and then you die” set against the backdrop of lovely Ireland.

What a good read this was! I enjoy Maeve Binchy‘s stories, where good people often find each other in unexpected ways at a time when kindness is most needed.

There were a lot of characters to keep up with. I still really enjoyed it. I love the Irish setting.

A Week in Winter seemed a bit different than the other Maeve Binchy books I've read, but not in a bad way at all. I love how she wove so many different characters' lives together, and I love how we got to know each character's back story as well as how they changed because of their week at Stone House.

Thank you @Andrew65 for introducing me to Maeve Binchy through your buddy reads a few years ago!
Wednesday afternoon #coffeeandabook- bananas foster coffee with a little bit of caramel syrup mixed in. ☕️
This was a reread, Binchy‘s novels are always comfort reads for me. Slowly we are introduced to new characters who are staying at an inn on the West Coast of Ireland. The chapters read like standalone shortstories, but they layer together to create a sweet picture of complicated people who cross paths during their week-long vacations. I love that there are not simple resolutions with every story. Some people don‘t change, others do, that‘s life.
Just finished my #doublespin @TheAromaofBooks !
Some of the chapters dragged on but it was a nice slice of life-esque novel with an interesting cast of characters. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it but it wasn't terrible. 😅🤷🏽♀️
Starting on my #DoubleSpin book for #BookSpinBingo! #currentlyreading 🐶
A good month. If I gave stars these would all be 4 or 5 stars for me.

Sadly the first Maeve Binchy book I pick up to read was her last written. It felt more like a collection of short stories and I think perhaps thats why I didn‘t love it. For years I have heard rave reviews about Maeve Binchy and I was somewhat expecting more of a Patrick Taylor type read where I could devour the beauty of Ireland and fall in love with the quaint and quirky characters. I didn‘t feel either with this read, but that won‘t deter me.
My first Maeve Binchy!! I enjoyed this cozy read about Stone House and its first set of guests!! So much fun meeting each character with their own vignettes...and who can resist a little black and white cat named Gloria? And talk about puffins, and a librarian with “second sight”. 3.5⭐️
I forgot how much I loved Maeve Binchy. A warm & loving look @ all the characters who came to the opening week of Stone House. She knows how to bring people & places to life. I think I read somewhere that this was her last book.
I am reading 5 books at one time. This book being one of them. 🤗

5. The tagged book is one I want to read this winter.
A collection of vignettes each dedicated to one of the novel‘s characters, with some background story of the decisions and life events that lead them to book a ‘week in winter‘ at the newly opened Stone House hotel. A light, cozy read with wonderfully descriptive passages of the Irish countryside and its inhabitants. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #booked2019 #booked2019winter #irishauthor #setinIreland

I always enjoy Maeve Binchy books, but this wouldn‘t be my favourite because in the main it was a collection of stories about the different people staying for a week‘s holiday in Western Ireland. I prefer stories to have more depth & prefer her bigger story books she writes as a result. If you like short stories I definitely recommend this as it was very well written & it had a good group of characters, as well as a good backdrop and context.
Between a pick and so-so for me. I felt like we were tripping along the surface of the story and the characters, never getting a chance to be truly invested. Still, there was enough happening to make it an entertaining read. Thanks for the buddy read @Andrew65

I‘m so glad for the opportunity to finally pick this up off my shelf for the #MaeveBinchyBuddyRead with @Andrew65 and @EadieB ! Binchy was one of the first adult authors that I read, and I hadn‘t read her in years. This took me back to everything I loved about her books: the place, the characters, and her ability to draw you in to a story. A definite pick from me! #AWeekInWinter
