Another massive w/e for this whirling dervish. Fri arvo drinks with the new boss, Saturday yoga class then ballet, hair appointment, friend‘s 40th birthday on a roof top over looking the city in the blazing autumn sun, a little sleep in, takeaway breaky of smoothies and banana bread on the beach, a spa and sparkling margarita followed by lunch of prawn and halloumi salad with a bottle of Pinot gris at this pub followed by another lay on the beach.
I finally got around to reading this book. Definitely different than the first three books but still a good read. Lisbeth is my hero!!
This is a the fourth book in the Millennium series with author David Lagercrantz taking over. I wasn't sure what to expect given how much I had enjoyed the original books but I was thoroughly engrossed.
It's been a while since I read the originals so my memory is fuzzy but it was a thrilling read with great descriptions and the characters carrying on where they left off. Will definitely continue with the series.
Not bad. You can tell it was a different author. It didn‘t feel as in-depth and intricate as Larsson wrote. The story felt extra. It wasn‘t bad ... it‘s hard to describe. It came across as developed fanfic. It‘s plausible that it could be part of the series but it‘s clearly not written by the right author. 🤷ðŸ»â€â™€ï¸
It was too easy to figure out the twists and the bad guys and how it would be solved.

Decided to go with this one. Not sure how I feel about it yet. Definitely different writers.

Side question: The Outlander series. Is it worth it?
Wow! I so loved this book! It‘s been about 10 years since I read the original trilogy, but I didn‘t think that mattered. Honestly, I think it helped because I couldn‘t compare the writing to the previous author.
I listened to this on audio and Simon Vance did a great job. At a certain point I couldn‘t stop listening and had to keep going. I was hooked! I did get confused at some points, lots of POV and had to figure out who‘s POV it was.
Surely the great thing about life is that every now and then it springs a surprise on us...

This worked really well as an audio book! The story was great and I didn't really mind the change of the writer either. I'm not good at judging the difference between the writers because it's been like 10 years since I read the original books. I realized how much I had missed Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander as characters! I'm definitely reading the rest of this series. 🤓
I'm loving this way more than I expected. The story is really good and it works well in audio form. 🎧ðŸ˜
Decided to try Nextory after Bookbeat. I already like it more than Bookbeat. This book has spent years on my bookshelf. Now I decided to give it a try as an audiobook. The begining is very promising! ðŸ˜
I was a little hesitant to continue the series with a different author, but I think Lagercrantz did a pretty good job.
• Haven't had ANY adult reading time these past few weeks because of the little one; seemingly endless hours of nursing and keeping a baby alive is my life now 😉 I am making very slow progress with this book, but enjoying it just the same. I have to get caught up with this series, which might or might not be ongoing. It would be great if I could accomplish that goal before the end of the year!! •
• It's a cup of tea and Salander afternoon... •

"It wasn‘t just escapism, he persuaded himself. Sometimes the best ideas occur to you while your mind is occupied with something completely different. Pieces of the puzzle can suddenly fall into place. But he failed to come up with anything more constructive than the thought that he ought to spend more time lying around like this, reading good books.â€
"In fact he always said it isn't the subject that determines good journalism, it's the reporter's attitude."
• Started last night; excited to meet some new characters and glad to move forward with the series!! I'm 3 books behind, including the new one due next month. Gimme some more Lisbeth Salander! 🤗 •

Feeling a bit conflicted about my feelings on this one. I did like it - the story is compelling, but there was also so much I hated.

Didn't really want to read this knowing that it's not Stieg Larsson's writing anymore, but I got this for a really cheap price and I can't resist Lisbeth Salander! Here's to hoping it lives up to the first three books 🤞ðŸ™
Thinking of picking this book for our next round of #lmpbc (held by my twin daughters). Only hitch is it‘s 475 pages :( Is that too long?! I‘ve read the rest of the Millenium Series and want to see how this new author handles Lisbeth.
It was still Michael Blomkvist and everything but it just wasn't quite the same. LISBETH wasn't the same. She didn't have the same tendencies and she put on makeup?! Since when? It was just missing something.
Audio crocheting this morning. Hoping to finish both the scarf and the book today.
What a disappointment! Good enough to stick with, but really nothing like Steig Larsson‘s original Millennium Trilogy. Lisbeth Salander is just a cardboard cutout. Mikael Blomkvist plays a bigger part, but there are so many other characters at play. We know none of them well by the end. The action is improbable and not especially captivating.

Well, I managed to finish the tagged book while decorating our Christmas tree. But I have to say, it was ridiculously incongruous. Angels don‘t go with horrible, criminal people. But I‘m psyched about how pretty my tree is this year.

Started this today. Curious to see how it will hold up to the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, which I loved. The narration is a little too monotonous but we‘ll see how it goes.
Giving this one a try for #pop18 #nordicnoir, despite its dismal reviews. Hope I don‘t hate it ... because I loved the trilogy from Larsson.
An autistic, eight-year-old boy witnesses his father‘s murder and apparently Lisbeth Salander is the only person who can keep him safe. It goes better than you‘d think it would, but only because the author doesn‘t understand autism.
1. To not have to turn in a library book without reading it.
2. No, I really don't like writing
3. The colors of the changing leaves
4. Happy November, Littens!

First off let me say that I thought this was the first book in the series. I was wrong. That‘s a my bad. However, it was still a FANTASTIC book. I can‘t wait to dive into the rest of the series. The book is so well written. The character Lisbeth Salander should be everyone‘s favorite anti hero. This book was so well written that I would think of the scenes my mind created while I was trying to watch tv and had to get back to the book.
I read the three “Millennium†books penned by Steig Larsson as they were released. I was hesitant to continue after Larsson‘s death when David Lagercrantz took over the series. All I can say is that it was silly of me to wait until now to read this fourth book. I liked it just as much as Larsson‘s original ones. I completely forgot how good the characters are from this series. Now I can‘t wait to read number five.
A bit dark and depressing, but with a story that keeps the reader guessing. Not as good as the original series but still cleverly written.
I saw the trailer for this today. I'm a little perplexed about them skipping 2 whole books to continue Lisbeth's story in the Millenium series. I'm curious to know what others think. I read that they worked some points from those 2 books into this movie to help with character development, but....why skip them at all? I have seen the Swedish movie trilogy and am really disappointed that the Hollywood adaptations fizzled out and are skipping ahead.
It started slowly, and I am not sure it is up to the standard of stieg Larsen‘s millennium trilogy, but overall a good read
This morning‘s chat worked perfectly for today‘s #riotgrams prompt: Library Love
Ps: if you have an ereader you should really checkout your libraries ebook rental system. Also perfect for audiobooks, comics, and even music/tv. All the love to Hoopla/Libby/Overdrive
I really enjoyed the original 3 Larsson books when I read them perhaps 8 years ago, so I resisted this book for a while, as it didn‘t seem right to me for someone else to appropriate the characters. About halfway through this, I was hooked. Good story, great pacing, and maintains the integrity of the series and the characters. I‘m glad I finally broke down.
No sharpness of Stieg Larsson! The book isn't impressed 😔
Just realized I didn't post a review after finishing this on my commute home Friday. Good, but not as good as the first three.
