Mogul Whitney Vance is nearing the end of his life, his regrets include not pursuing a Mexican girl he had a love affair with in college who told him she was pregnant, then she disappeared. What happened to her ? Was a baby actually born? Bosch in a PI role is looking into it soon realizing there are people with a financial interest working to be sure no heir is found.
pickI like this one. The cases are interesting and at least one of the "bad guys" is complex and in some lights even sympathetic rather than being all bad. Another is irredeemably bad and whose punishment provides a welcome sense of things being set right in the world. Come to think of it, I wonder if that's why I feel compelled to keep reading these books? They provide a vindication that feels too complicated for me to root for in real life.
pickThis book felt like two great mysteries for the price of one. An octogenarian with a fortune to the tune of billions asked Bosch to help find out once and for all if he has a living heir, before the vultures circling his fortune decide to take drastic measures. And a serial rapist terrorising San Fernando. Excellent, as per usual! (And the Tulum sun didn't hurt either 🔆)

Side note: My mom is watching Moxie and it's the first time we've been apart. I miss her already 😿
pickConnelly does it again. The way he manipulates stories and makes you naturally believe one idea and then completely destroys the possibility of that actually being real is amazing. He had me on my toes the entire time. I can‘t wait to continue with the Bosch series and see where he goes next. Highly recommend this masterpiece!
pickBook #19 in the Harry Bosch series. Well Harry is still at it... I really enjoyed this one. I felt like it came full circle with helping Harry feel better, and even deal with, his time in Vietnam.

Book 19 in the Harry Bosch series and for me he is still a very entertaining character and the plot for this was very good. Two cases running alongside eachother both with lots of mystery 😊

Starting to accumulate some September books to read. I think I‘m going to keep October strictly horror and suspense or only Stephen King.
We have been in the heart of the latest California wildfire “The Holy Fire” all week. I wish I could say I have been getting a lot of reading accomplished but sadly I haven‘t. It is hard to concentrate with this view down the street. Today the evacuation has been lifting and I‘m back to my regular reading Pleasure. 😀
I am starting The Wrong Side of Goodbye today. I have to admit that I have only read The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly this far. Any reviews are appreciated.
pickAs always this was a fast read for me. I don't know how Connelly keeps doing it ( after 20 books you'd figure he'd get stale, but I keep loving his books). It's a good crime novel that keeps you guessing, but above all what keeps me coming back to these novels is the characters - not just Harry Bosch that is fascinating but even the side characters always hold interest for me and I always care for them and find them believable. A fun afternoon!
pickHadn't read any Connelly before. This is the 21st in a series of books but I had no prob reading as a stand alone. Enjoyed the plot and characters. Its a well done example of the crime novel. Part cop/private investigator tracks down potential missing heir to fortune while at the same time chasing down a serial rapist. Liked it in part due to the ending. There are consequences to life choices. Now to find book 1 😊🖒

pickHarry Bosch never disappoints. Or should I say Michael Connelly? I've read the entire series & really enjoyed watching this detective as he ages & moves through life. This latest entry continues Connelly's formula of weaving two story lines throughout the novel, each engaging in its own right & never cannibalizing the other. It's also a love letter of sorts to Los Angeles. If police procedurals are your thing, this is a very good bet. Enjoy.
I finished book one of my re-read of "The Lord of the Rings", and set it aside to enjoy Connelly's latest. It was then fun to run across this passage partway through... "Bosch ... had also read Tolkien in Vietnam. It was a popular book among combat veterans, a rich fantasy about another world that took them away from the reality of where they were and what they were doing." ?

pickIn the 21st book in the Harry Bosch series, Connelly has Harry juggling two cases. One is more interesting than the other, in my humble opinion, but they both were good enough for me to continue the book...and want to continue the series. It still is one of my favorite series in crime fiction, if not my favorite. First book finished for #thankfullyreading Weekend.
So which is it? Goodbye or good-bye? Even the author isn't sure...However, I gave him a pass and finished the book anyway. #thankfullyreading
My husband and I saw Michael Connolly, one of our literary heroes tonight at Warwick's. We started reading his Bosch books when the first one came out in 1992 -we lived in Virginia and were homesick for Los Angeles, and Connolly's descriptions of our city made us feel like we were there. Both of us have read all his books, and we don't usually read even in the same genre. This latest book is dedicated to Vin Scully- the soundtrack for our city.

pickI love Connelly's books. They are well plotted and smart legal (mostly police) procedurals. But what really keeps me with his books are the characters and their continued development. When I first started the Bosch series, he was a detective in the LAPD. Now, he's retired. And, the intersection between Bosch and his Lincoln lawyer, Haller, just makes the series that much better. This book doesn't disappoint and I blew through it.
Starting the #Readathon with a bit of a cheat. Fell asleep last night with 30 pages of this left to read. Already had one cup of coffee so I'm raring to go!
I don't snack a lot while reading, but when I do, it's usually Skinny Pop. And, the next Harry Bosch is great so far! #readingsnacks #Booktober
