5⭐
Audio reread to refresh my memory for book #2 in the series.
A compelling story, creepy scary, and bloody gruesome. Billed as being Silence of the Lambs (the vibes from this movie are very prevalent) meets Sadie...I totally agree with the SOTL comparison, but I'm not feeling the Sadie comparison. Set in the early 80s...maybe when profiling/behavioral science was just really becoming a process that the FBI used to try and catch a serial killer.

I'm really surprised I haven't heard more about this book. It's a great YA thriller about serial killers.
Two teens, one who survived an attack by a serial killer and one who's father was killed by a serial killer, team up with the FBI to catch teen killers.
This book was an excellent psychological thriller that kept me engaged throughout. I am really excited for the next book. 💀
First read of the year was excellent! I was hoping for more between the two MCs, but the fact that a sequel si coming out with some of the same characters has mullified me. Nail-biting serial killer YA, but great for anyone, if you can handle the more gruesome bits. It also handles the whole "what happens next" aspect of the final girl trope in a more nuanced way than I've seen. Would definitely recommend! ? #bookspin

For this prompt, I decided to go with the book that launched me into my mystery/thriller obsession. Before None Shall Sleep, I was sort of in a rut and bored with most the books I was reading. It just happened I stumbled upon a review of this book that compared it to Silence Of The Lambs meets Mindhunter— that grabbed me and I knew I needed to read it. It ignited a flame in me that hasn‘t faded away. 🔥
@Clwojick Here's your books that have washed ashore. Seems like some good choices if you're stuck and going stir crazy. 😁
Happy reading!

None shall sleep alright! At 1.45am 13yo Clem bursts into our room. He can‘t sleep because of his head cold. I drag myself out of bed to get him some meds. He proceeds to tell me that when he found himself unable to sleep he decided to read. He read so much, he finished the book.
Now that he‘s shared the ending with me I can see it might‘ve been more than his cold keeping him awake 😳. This was a Litsy rec 🙏 & it‘s a massive ‘pick‘ from Clem.
My reading buddy ❤
I thought this book was so good! The procedural aspects were expertly crafted, the incarcerated killer was extremely unsettling, and the hunt for The Butcher grew into a pulse-pounding intensity.

Silence of the Lambs but with teenagers. This book had a pacing problem. Chunks of it just dragged on.
I was truly worried about this one…. Man, am I glad it was a worthwhile and interesting read. I‘d call it delightful but I don‘t like calling murder mysteries delightful.
Wow! I can't remember who recommended this one but thank you anyway! 😁 I could not put it down! Can definitely see why some have called it a YA Silence of the Lambs. A great psychological thriller. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I'm 9% into the tagged book, and the fur babies are keeping me company. 😊
Disappointingly, this YA thriller was a So-So for me. It kept me turning the pages ok, but it was predictable and desperately needed a medical fact-check and more procedural believability.
Onward to this thriller. "None" for #monthlykeywordGXO, knife on cover for #waystodie prompt of #pickyourpoison.
@mrozzz said this book would be good for people who love Criminal Minds, which I do. So it seemed like a perfect opportunity to start this book while I‘m re-watching Criminal Minds.
Excellent for the ilk currently obsessed with gory page-turners or shows like Criminal Minds. As a YA this might be missed, but be sure not do. The audio in particular is fabulous and disturbing.
The cover & title of this one don‘t do it justice. I was expecting a somewhat hokey teen slasher. What I got was the YA The Silence Of The Lambs! Creepy, suspenseful & atmospheric in an eerie Hannibal Lecter perfect villain that you can‘t quite hate kind of way! I love the use of an incomplete sentence for effect, this author does at times take it to extremes. But, I got much more than I bargained for with this one, so no complaints here! So good!
Wow what a twisty ride. This was my #bookspin book for this month. Two teens who survived serial killers are asked to join the FBI to talk to teen serial killers. But what Emma and Travis don‘t know is that they are in for a wild scary ride! This book kept me the edge of my seat the whole time!
16 books read for this month and still no bingo! 🤷🏻♀️
Half day of work today with it calling for over a foot of snow. After a scary drive home in the snow I am ready to dive into my #bookspin book for this month! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻for a snow day tomorrow!
An excellent story, creepily scary and bloody gruesome. Billed as being Silence of the Lambs meets Sadie...I totally agree with the SOTL comparison, but I'm not feeling the Sadie comparison at all. Set in the early 80s...maybe when profiling was just really becoming mainstream. Either way, it was really quite compelling. Also, the narration by each of the narrators was performed perfectly.
4⭐ This was like a YA Silence of the Lambs and Criminal Minds. I couldn't put it down!
I just...Suspending ALL disbelief wasn‘t enough. I had to skim read—that none of it would never happen proved to be too distracting. The premise—two teens are recruited by the FBI to help them with cold cases by talking to juvenile serial killers who, the thinking goes, might be more willing to talk to their peers than adults. And then it gets more absurd. A likable lead & solid writing isn‘t enough to make this YA book a pick. Just barely so-so.
Another dreary, overcast day which means it‘s excellent reading weather. Going with a YA ARC—I‘m a little late getting to it as the book was published last week—that certainly has a dramatic cover. Story is about two teens who are recruited to assist the FBI in cold cases involving juvenile killers. Of course things get more complicated than that...Suspending all disbelief as I start but that‘s all good. Sounds like it should be entertaining.

Holiday time, so I am free to read read read. Plus, need to select September RSO books this week, so also under a deadline. This 80s FBI serial killer with teenage agents will get very scary but at the moment, it‘s hooking me in with its sympathetic MCs - Emma and Travis. #currentlyreading #preview #septrso2020 #digital #loveozya (but set in America). #thriller #suspense
