pickI really enjoyed this story! Just enough spookiness (I can't handle much 😂) and such a perfect ending. This is the second book that I've read by this author, and he's becoming a favorite 💜

pickThis was a magic-filled story with just the right balance of spookiness and intrigue. The magical house is fun to explore, with moving staircases, indoor sentient trees, talking busts and mischievous house pests. Zita was a brave heroine readers will love, and Bram and Minnifer were great, too. While technically a middle grade book, I believe it can be enjoyed by all ages.

I'm excited to enjoy this book (it's been on my TBR for awhile!) & the yummy candy while we hunker down and wait for our 18 in of snow to arrive ❄❄❄ This was so thoughtful of you!

pickThis was a sweet haunted house orphaned child comes home story about witches ghostsu and the fight between good and evil. It wasn‘t very dark so maybe not very scary to the middle grade readers. I enjoyed it and the ending very much. I wouldn‘t say the characters endeared me to them like other middle grade books but this one did keep me reading!

pickAnother delightful MG book to look forward to in September. In his reader‘s note, Bachmann explains this book is his “attempt at a middle grade gothic novel” & I must say he definitely succeeded. An orphan, Zita learns that she is the last living member of a powerful family of witches & that the family castle is now hers—cue mysterious home high in the mountains, a brooding guardian, misfit servants, curses, magic & more. A well-written, fun read.
Reading another MG ARC tonight. This one is about a young orphan who becomes the mistress of a mysterious castle high in the mountains. Magic, a battle between the living & the dead, & dangerous spells promise to make this a fun read. It also has a very cool cover.
The book is out in October.
