I'm in love with this book. It had everything I love and want in a story. Outstanding. Great character development and twists and turns. Fabulous. A must read 💗💜
Sometimes when books have 2 main characters and 2 POVs I have a tendency to favor one over the other. This wasn‘t the case. I really enjoyed the main characters and of course Wolf. I loved the dark suspenseful storyline and the twists along the way. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Liked this book, but didn‘t love it. Opening scene grabbed my attention. Like wowza! Thought I would be reading a dark tale about the pursuit of a serial killer. Not so much. The story focused on the two younger women, Hailey and Beth. I didn‘t connect with either character, and a few pieces of dialogue reeked of YA drama. The plot was also slow going. I kept reading because I wanted resolution, and the dog…Wolf was a total badass! Loved that dog!
We‘re moving! Condo living on Vancouver Island is just not the best fit for me or my husband or our two dogs. Going to miss this reading view, but we‘re working on making an even better view happen. Our stuff has already been packed, moved, and put into storage, so thank goodness for libraries! Now we‘re just waiting for a buyer⏳
Thought I‘d start a new library book before breakfast. Now I have a problem. I‘m supposed to clean up the condo for an Open House we‘re having tomorrow. I‘m putting the book down. Going to try to get the things done… because I would like for this place to sell… but I know I‘ll be thinking about this first page the whole time!
Another good story from Stevens! It‘s a fast paced quick read focusing on the dual perspective of two girls fighting for their lives in a small town plagued by murder and a rogue cop. Definitely recommend!
4⭐For an adult book, this felt decidedly YA. All three of the MCs are around 18, and their actions are that of teens. I‘m not saying that it bothered me, only that it could if you‘re not really into YA. Otherwise, this was pretty good with a creepy atmosphere, and perfect pacing it held my interest throughout. I thought I knew where it was going…but it still managed to have a few surprises. Plus it had excellent narration.
Parts of this book verge on poetic, (the very beginning & very end), dealing with the tragedy of the high incidents of violence against Indigenous women and girls in Canada. However, the only other mentions of Indigenous culture are in passing, leaving me feeling like the Highway of Tears was being used as a gimmick to reel the reader in with a bait and switch.
My first Chevy Stevens and it won‘t be the last. It wasn‘t a difficult one to figure out but the story moved and I really enjoyed it. It breaks my heart that the crimes that the book is centered around are based on true crimes. ☹️

A little time to myself! Almost halfway through and its pulling me in.
When a client says that I must read this book, I drop all my books as soon as my hold from the library comes in. 😀

Richly atmospheric, 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀 by 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘃𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘀 is full of surprising plot twists & revelations. Two young women travel dark roads — literally & figuratively as they navigate the emotional toll of their respective losses & experiences. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Read part one over 100 pages I couldn't do anymore
Some parts were a little slow, but overall pretty good. This one kind of reminded me a little bit of “Sadie”. Was I the only one who got those vibes?
Hailey lives with her police officer uncle, who uses his badge as a way to bully and control her. She vanishes to the mountains; rumored to be taken by a highway killer. A year later, Beth comes to town, to find out what happened to her sister. But her search puts a target on her back and the truth on Hailey's disappearance.
It seemed a little disjointed in places, yet it came together.
Serious topic, dark but compelling author, whimsical coffee mug. Ready, set, go.
Review is up on my blog! This is a good one! Check it out!

I loved this book, and I thought I had the ending figured out. But nope I was wrong. Filled with twists that kept me on my edge of my seat. Plus, apparently in Canada there is a Highway of Death, that many women go missing or murdered! #thriller

One heartache after another is what Hailey had to deal with...the death of her mother, then a few years later the death of her father.

Wasn't my favorite from Chevy and I've read them all. HATED the epilogue. Still a 4⭐ read!

I‘ve been a fan of Stevens‘ writing since her debut novel- and this one, her latest- may just be my favorite yet! Cold Creek, Canada has a string of missing and murdered women along its highway. Hailey, grieving the loss of her father, starts to think she may know the truth -but no one will listen. Riveting and with a great fictional dog, Wolf, I couldn‘t put this down at all! I can‘t wait to see what she writes next! #DogsOfLitsy
Great edge of your seat book by Chevy Stevens. She is great at setting a scene and putting you right there. Girls are going missing along a stretch of highway near a small town. Hailey discovers something horrible about her Uncle and escapes into the woods to hide from him. But she can't stay there forever and soon is forced to fight the evil in her town. Great characters and action.

Chevy Stevens is an excellent storyteller. I read her book, Still Missing, so I was anxious to read this one. I was not disappointed. The story was haunting and chilling and based on true events which happened on The Highway of Tears in northern British Columbia, Canada where girls went missing and many were brutally murdered. Hailey finds Vaughn to be very controlling and inappropriate towards her.
I was really excited about this book & it started out really strong. Hailey is a teenage girl who moves to the small town where her uncle Vaughn is a sergeant with the police force. In this town girls have a habit of turning up dead along a stretch of lonely highway. Hailey, Beth, Amber, Emily who will be the next victim?
The book gets really YA angsty & the relationship drama really hurt what could have been an amazing book.
Wolf was my favorite
I have been waiting “patiently” for a new book from Chevy Steven‘s and this one was worth the wait. I‘ve heard about the Highway of Tears, where women, many of them indigenous, disappear in Canada. This book is set on a fictional highway & women in this small town have vanished. There is someone that is kidnapping, abusing and killing these women. The epilogue was my favorite part of the book❤️
Since my last attempt at an E-book went so well, I decided to jump into my next #NetGalley ARC. It sounds so good but I'm feeling kind of slumpy from When The Stars Go Dark. And I'm halfway through Behind Closed Doors but rapidly losing interest. I'm hoping this novel gives me something exciting and breaks my slump. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏾
I LOVE Chevy Steven‘s and super excited that I was able to snag the ARC📚❤️

What are you reading? 😊
I love this author. If you're looking for a psychological thriller or a mystery, this gets my recommendation. I didn't figure out the ending in advance which is definitely my preference. This has missing and murdered girls, a corrupt cop, and a host of other plot points. Setting is British Columbia.

This is my first time reading a Chevy Stevens book, and I'm a new fan. Dark Roads is fast paced and engrossing, with fascinating characters and unpredictable twists and turns. It's the story of a town in the northern Canadian wilderness which has been the site of several abductions and murders of young women, and two young women trying to do what the local police have failed to do for years: catch the killer. The book is great. Highly recommend.
It has strong beginning but after a while it put me in the mind of a teen melodrama. Not really for me. #netgalley
Reading this one right now! The prologue has already sucked me in! #netgalley
