3.25⭐ The plot of this book was fun and nerdy enough to complete, but it wasn't something I'd necessarily recommend or read again. It was enjoyable while doing chores, and the characters were likeable, so I rooted for their happy ending. Some things felt forced, especially the ending, which seemed to be going for tidy, rather than believable.

To round out the books & dogs theme, here‘s archival footage of sweet Pelly helping me start another #AuldLangSpine title last night! I‘m here for the character dynamics and I‘m excited to get into the nitty gritty of costume design as the competition‘s final round ramps up.

For this week‘s library haul, I headed to a branch with five things I needed right on its shelves: an Express title my mum wanted (not pictured), the next available volumes of YONA OF THE DAWN, and two #AuldLangSpine picks that I should be able to renew even if I can‘t manage to finish them between January 1st and their due date on the 6th. Good times.

Okay. The audiobook was terrible. I don‘t know who chose the narrator, but clearly she was NOT into this story. She literally put me to sleep. I returned that copy and picked up the paperback. Muuuuuuch better!!!
I liked the characters and how they interacted with each other. The story premise was fun and new. Looking forward to more from this author!

Loved Kenya and Cam❤️❤️ Lots of good chemistry and I loved their cosplay journey. I really disliked her parents and I personally would of never spoke to them again but that‘s just me 🙂 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My fan ideas for this book!!! There are so many but these are my top picks. With the Thor reference in this book of course I went with my Chris Hemswprth!! I am more of Loki‘s girl but I will give a pass for this book. I love Nicole Byer — she gives - Kendra energy!! Also had to Add Lizzo & Chris Evans 🥰 I ship this!!

The story of a black plus size cosplayer & her struggle to fight to be on this competition reality show, without falling to racial sound bits resonates with me. I have been in similar situation because “trolls” want to gatekeep fandoms. I don‘t care if a character isn‘t black, they are going to be black when I cosplay. #representationmatter #blerd #cosplayerofcolor #cosplayforeveryone

Welp before I could get my hands on my two paperbacks — Libby decided I need to read this first. I had this book on hold a while, now it‘s here. This right up my nerdy alley!! How to Marry Keanu Reeves looks like I have a chance lol 😂 I love Keanu 🥰 I need the coloring book in my life and funko pop of John Yummy Wick.

3.25/5 this was good, if predictable. The pacing was a bit weird in places, but there was some true laugh out loud moments. The main characters were utterly relatable too.

An absolutely random pick from my library‘s “Recently added” list. Turns out it was the perfect weekend escape. Kenya has made it to the final round of a cosplay reality show. To win, she will need the help of her best friend, Cam, to pull off an epic couples costume. Along the way their staged intimacy becomes real. I loved all of this. The representation was wonderful and the hundred microagressions Kenya faced hit home. So good.

Starting #swoonathon off with these two books from my January #readromancerepeat box. I devoured both of these over the last 4 days!

The Love Con is a fun contemporary friends to lovers story with a fake relationship. Kendra & Cameron have a ton of chemistry, along with a lot of respect and support for one another. The author handles the tension and challenges these characters face in an incredibly positive way I found refreshing. ⬇️

This was so cute. I think contemporary romance does a great job at being modern and using current pop culture and references in the most natural way. I didn‘t feel at all like “you‘re really forcing that reference!”

This was tough for me. There is a lot good in this book-body positive POC main character, adorable cinnamon roll love interest. All of this is great. Not great is the treatment of the main character. Important to make real accurate stories but not always fun to read - see triggers in comments. Also the ending conflict wrapped so quickly it didn‘t seem worth the pain our protagonist went through. 3⭐️

I loved this book! Kenya was a strong woman who still had breaking points. Cam was a sweet 'lil cinnamon roll. My only complaint was the lack of spicy scenes. There was really only one love scene and a lot of insinuated sexy time. After so much build up to the initial love scene, it felt rushed and very short for my liking. After that, there wasn't much. Maybe I've been reading too much smut (yes, yes I have), but this had so much sexy potential!

Started reading this one this morning from #NetGalley. It doesn't fit any of the challenges I'm doing for October but after finishing All the Feels a few weeks ago, I needed another fix and this one is a perfect fit so far! I've been obsessing over romances with plus-sized heroines that read like Ao3 smut and I'm👏🏻here👏🏻for👏🏻it #currentlyreading
