@wanderinglynn it came! Thank you so much!
Crazy, batshit book!! Starts out at a school that's like Hogwarts for computer hackers, then just gets weirder and more banana pants from there. I liked all that characters, wouldn't mind a sequel since the ending was left open to more adventures. 4 💾💾💾💾

The train clanks on the tracks, rocking side to side. A hundred smells come together - garlic in the iron wok, wet goat, a tin pail of piss - and nausea forms a rolling boil in Chance's belly.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.
Day 71

This was fun and a little more thrillery than I normally read. I enjoyed the development of the zeros pod throughout the story and was satisfied with the ending. The framing narrative took a little while to make sense and I feel like it could be a whole other story. This was number 8 for #BookSpinBonanza.
#BuriedAliveChallenge
Ragtag group of competent people coming together to achieve the impossible is usually my jam. But I found myself not really connecting here? I didn‘t really care about any of these characters or the stakes that were established.
BUT, the plot‘s fast and engaging. The technological aspects were fascinating. And the narrator works well for thrilling espionage.
All this to say, I look forward to trying something different by Wendig. 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑
Several hackers of varying age (and ability) are rounded up by the gov't after breaking the law. They are put in a work-release program--hack for the gov't and their crimes are forgiven. But they discover one of the craziest absolute-takeover plots in all of sci-fi! You'll be turning pages faster than you ever thought possible!
And you'll never look at your devices the same way again.
Well, I expected to like this more than I did. Hackers and nanotech should be a win for me but I didn't connect to the characters and the tech part felt vague, if that makes sense. The audiobook narrator had a good manly man action movie vibe. I listened in Hoopla for the Sword and Laser monthly pick.
A not-quite-so-lofty blend of Person of Interest and Mr. Robot, this was a good techno thriller with a cast of relatable characters who discover they're much more effective as a functioning group than renegade soloists. The rough, at times crass, edginess does feel overdone but the story redeems itself at the end. The ending feels rushed to resolve but it offers a nice hook to sell the next book in the series.
I enjoyed the first 2/3 of this book. Then it took a turn beyond which it could not recover.
Up until the story became grotesquely bizarre, the dialogue was snappy, the plot was rolling along, and the hacking was understandable. I‘m willing to suspend my power of disbelief for a good narrative, but not when it‘s beyond all reason and literally makes me roll my eyes and mutter aloud, “Oh, please!”
Zeroes earns zero ⭐️s in my book.
Let‘s do this thing! Hour Zero! Kick this thing off with a bang and fill out the Intro survey and geographic survey on https://wp.me/p6ljI4-kZ.

This was difficult to rate. Although many of the characters were unlikable, I warmed up to most of the "Zeroes" by the end. However, I felt like the characters weren't as well-developed as I would've liked. I rate it a bit higher than a So-So, but since the story kept me interested enough that it was at times hard to put down, I'll call it a Pick. I wasn't completely satisfied by the ending--it seemed rushed--but overall, I liked this book.
Creepily interesting....
Great characters. The story/plot either left out some information or took it for granted I understood some that I didn‘t. Since it was about hacking and disturbing government agents and agencies, probably both apply! The first and second halves of the book were very different – I much preferred the first half, and would have rated the book higher if it had continued in the same vein.
This cute and cuddly penguin blanket doesn't pair well with my current read! 😂 #BookandBlanket #ReadingResolutions
#BookHaul from the Jasper Ave Wee Book Inn (Edmonton, AB)! They have a great selection of sci-fi & fantasy (especially classic stuff). Zeroes is going to be my first book for @Chelleo 's #LitsybytheNumbers reading challenge. #TBR #BookstoreLove #UsedBooks
First book that came to mind for 🎮
A most interesting and enjoyable read with good bad guys and bad good guys and hacking and conspiracy and all kinds of fun stuff!

My first Wendig book outside of Damn Fine Story. Will I like it? We shall see!
Just decided on this as my first book for the #litsybythenumbers challenge #lbtn
I waited A YEAR, and I finally get to read Zer0es!
Is there a way to shelve books previously read here, like on GR, or is it more like a start at the present moment and never look back kind of thing?
Really good! Twists and turns that keep you guessing late in the game. Can't ask for more than that. Well done!
I've never been into hacking, cyber crime kind of books, but man, was this good.
Cool cyber thriller with 5 misfit hackers trying to save the world from an AI. Fast-paced and pulls on the modern fears of the Information Age.
