Love Theoretically
Love Theoretically: From the bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis | Ali Hazelwood
PRE-ORDER THE NEW ALI HAZELWOOD NOVEL NOW! From the author of tiktok sensations and global bestsellers The Love Hypothesis and Love on the Brain Rival physicists collide in a vortex of academic feuds and fake dating shenanigans in this delightfully STEMinist romcom. The many lives of theoretical physicist Elsie Hannaway have finally caught up with her. By day, she's an adjunct professor, toiling away at grading labs and teaching thermodynamics in the hopes of landing tenure. By other day, Elsie makes up for her non-existent paycheck by offering her services as a fake girlfriend, tapping into her expertly honed people-pleasing skills to embody whichever version of herself the client needs. Honestly, it's a pretty sweet gig - until her carefully constructed Elsie-verse comes crashing down. Because Jack Smith, the annoyingly attractive and arrogant older brother of her favourite client, turns out to be the cold-hearted experimental physicist who ruined her mentor's career and undermined the reputation of theorists everywhere. And he's the same Jack Smith who rules over the physics department at MIT, standing right between Elsie and her dream job. Elsie is prepared for an all-out war of scholarly sabotage but... those long, penetrating looks? Not having to be anything other than her true self when she's with him? Will falling into an experimentalist's orbit finally tempt her to put her most guarded theories on love into practice? Praise for Ali Hazelwood and her novels: 'Ali Hazelwood proves that science is sexy as hell, and that love can 'STEM' from the most unlikely places. She's my newest must-buy author.' Jodi Picoult 'I cannot get enough of her brand of brainy romance! Writing with an emotionally brilliant and witty pen, Hazelwood is an absolute romance powerhouse.' Christina Lauren, author of The Unhoneymooners 'Gloriously nerdy and sexy, with on-point commentary about women in STEM.' Helen Hoang, author of The Heart Principle 'Proves that STEM can be sexy!' Red Readers love The Love Hypothesis: 'Did I read this in 24 hours? Yes.' 'Funny. Snarky. Intelligent. Real.' 'If you're even slightly thinking about getting this book to read, just go a head and do it' 'Ali Hazelwood has made herself an auto-buy author' 'It was just... perfect.' 'A heroine you will instantly fall in love with' The Love Hypothesis was on the Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller lists in January 2022, Love on the Brain was also on the Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller list in August 2022.

I enjoy Ali‘s books so much and this one did not disappoint. I love how she is exploring every field of academia while showcasing the realities that people with STEM doctorates face, through grad school, to companies, to becoming a tenure professor or opting for a postdoc. At the same time, I cannot help but smile through the lines. To me, Ali is a science-romance-comedy writer and I am all in for it. I‘m committed to read all of her books.

Funny and cute but almost too many witty quips all at once and all the time. Jack helped Elsie see that she was being controlled, but the way he handled her was pretty controlling too. He gave her space to be honest with herself, but he forced her into it. A little more spice than I like near the end, but an overall fun romance peppered with alot of physics anecdotes. Book #87 in 2024

Just binged this on a camping trip…. Hazelwood has her story and she tells a bit differently each time which should annoy me but instead I find it very comforting

The author's masterful storytelling weaves together two seemingly disparate worlds: the realm of emotions and the realm of scientific inquiry. The protagonist's journey through the complexities of love and relationships is seamlessly intertwined with fascinating scientific theories and concepts. This unique fusi...

I‘m glad I finally read one of Hazelwood‘s books! I liked the academia setting and a lot of the banter. The FMC annoyed me in some ways but overall I thought it was a good book.

I loved bride and the love hypothesis and love on the brain , but this one i found just too samey & what really ruined it for me was listening on audio , a bad narrator a voice that grates and puts on different voices for characters rather than switching to a new narrator just kills it for me. 😣

May 24, 2024 oooooo So many 2s and 4s in the date today. Could this be luck that I finished the book TODAY?! I would say that it was worth it to finish the book. I did feel a bit unsure about finishing it because 1) it wasn't as good as her first one and 2) I am not a science nerd. There were a lot of science references. But the ending was romantic in the sense that Elsie and Jack were able to end on positive terms and work on their relationship

May 22, 2024 I did mention that I wanted someone to tell me what happens because I was too lazy to read more but I ended up picking up the book again because I felt bad about not finishing it. I feel like there are books that are okay and then become boring because they are too slow and do not pick up pace. To me, this was one of those books. I am on page 342 and not quite done; but almost done. Sigh NOW, CAN SOMEBODH SPILL THE TEA?

May 20, 2024 Counting down the school days until summer... 10 MORE DAYS UNTIL SUMMER!!!! Yahoo! This means more reading and relaxing. But first, can someone just spill the tea and tell me how the book ends? I am way too lazy to finish it myself. Thanks in advance. Hint: Looking forward to reading my next TBR A not so Meet Cute by Meghan Quinn 😍

May 18, 2024 I have reached page 225. Nearly close to the end of my book but not close enough. I am not as intrigued with the book. It doesn't want me to keep reading. Hopefully it will have a good ending. Can someone just TELL me what happens at the end????

May 11, 2024 I am on page 160 and Jack has seemed to finally share his true feelings about Elsie. He initially thought that she liked Greg AND that Greg and her were together BUT once he realized that Greg and her were FRIENDS, he relaxed and was estatic. Jack had dreams and thoughts of Elsie with him. He really liked Elsie but felt jealous because his brother liked Elsie too. Now Jack can somewhat feel relieved!

May 3, 2024 MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU! and HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!!! I do not celebrate either but I thought I would say that since they happen one after the other. I got back into reading Love, Theoretically. How does one read this book? It was very detailed and wordy in the beginning. As I am reaching the middle of the book, it is getting better but still slow. I am on the part where Elise (Dr. Hannaway) realizes that Jonathan Smith Turner is Jack

Pretty sure Ali is officially a new favorite. I adored this book because of how messy the characters are. Elsie is trying so hard to be the person people want her to be. Relatable. To the point that she bypasses what she wants. I loved watching her grow to put herself first at points. Jack is such an amazing man; pushing her to speak up for herself. Ending was felt so deep; so proud of her.

Elsie‘s an adjunct professor by day & a paid fake-girlfriend by night. Sweet deal, until one of her clients‘ brother, Jack, catches her in the act. He & her mentor have beef. She‘s trying to get a job at MIT, but he‘s on the hiring committee. How‘s she still drawn to him?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is my favorite of hers so far. It was cute, hilarious, & kinda spicy; everything. I loved the chemistry between all the characters. The plot & writing were great.

April 22, 2024 HAPPY EARTH DAY! I did not save the planet earlier today by driving here but I did do myself a favor by exercising and reading my book that I stopped midway because "Why not?" I felt like I needed to begin it again since I was not fully concentrated on the words. Well, here I am...

Another Hazelwood winner! A slower burn than I remember in her previous books, but the characters were so dynamic that I didn't care at all. So well done, and the plot definitely felt more "unique" than her previous books. While the burn was slow, the latent sparks were excellent. Dare I say... my favorite of her books so far?! ???

LiteraryinPA I haven‘t ever read an Ali Hazelwood book before, but I‘d like to try one. Are they standalone books or is there one I need to read first? 6mo

This was such a great romance, I devoured it in two days. Enemies to lovers, he fell first, 'who did this to you?' tropes so well done. I related so hard to Elsie, a major people pleaser with anxiety who feels like a burden to others, and Jack reminded me of my partner, showing her that it's okay to be taken care of. Hazelwood once again highlights the difficulty of being a woman in STEM and gives us a complicated & wonderful couple to root for

A romance in which a scientist hires herself out as a fake girlfriend until she runs into her favorite client‘s brother in a professional setting and her side gig is in jeopardy. To be honest the context feels flimsy…professional fake girlfriend with no sex does not feel like a real thing. Still fun though!

I finished this book in one day 😍!! I think I would rate this 4.5 stars. I think the main character was very relatable (and a bit broken) but the LOVE INTEREST, HE SHOWS UP and ADMITS HE WAS WRONG like you can have my heart sir, also loved the science and academic in this book!! Some parts of this book were forgettable but overall AMAZING 🤩

An amazing, cute romance, that made me realize I know nothing about science. I will never be over Jack, he is my favourite protective, way too obsessed boyfriend. Him and Elsie were WAY too cute together and I loved the development of their relationship. Enemies to lovers but he never actually hated her, my favourite trope. It also has he fell first AND he fell harder, my other favourite trope. This book was the perfect secret Santa gift.

I really enjoyed Jack + Elsie! The chemistry, the storyline, the no-nonsense. But then she kept bringing up the article this 30+ year old man wrote when he was 17?? And she kept doubting his feelings?? And everyone treated “hating theorists” like it was bigotry, not an academic opinion he clearly didn‘t feel (and said he didn‘t multiple times). A little frustrating. But I loved watching her gain confidence; these academia politics are VERY REAL!!

Every time I pick up one of her books I know I won‘t put it down until I‘ve read the whole thing. Her first person is so good you laugh and cry with the characters, the best way to tell via first person. This book is a great read I highly recommend. I can‘t wait to read more of her books.

Cute romance with a predictable HEA. I loved the characters, especially the character of Elsie as the pleaser worked so well. Liked that Jack was able to see through her shell. I even thought the supporting characters were awesome. 4⭐️

Moral of the story: find someone who loves and respects your rage.
Ali Hazelwood strikes again! She packed in so much and I still found myself laughing out loud. This is not just a romcom, Elsie is a stand-in for all the performances those of us who don‘t fall into a majority demographic have to put on, and the consequences if we don‘t fit someone else‘s standards.
Read for a good time and a smart, lighthearted walk through some serious topics.

Ali Hazwood's books are like a really rich chocolate cake-- you know what you're going to get and it's delicious when you're in the right mood for it. Yes the enemies to lovers, oblivious heroine who doesn't realize the gruff, giant of a man is in love with her is all the same, but dang if I don't still enjoy it every time. And the theoretical vs experimental physicist drama was quite interesting.

Emilymdxn I‘m the exact same! People criticise the books for being samey but like, they‘re the same as something amazing… 1y
rachelsbrittain @Emilymdxn haha agreed! If you don't want to read something really similar to a previous book that's fine, and sure I wouldn't want to read that all the time, but everybody loves some chocolate cake now and again 😂 1y
