Really enjoying this follow up to Forbidden. I‘m looking forward to learning more about Portia‘s story.

This was my first Beverly Jenkins' book and i enjoyed it. I will probably read more at some point. It was a different version of a historical western romance.

Always a good read when it is a Beverly Jenkins book. This one did not disappoint. This is the second book in a series. If you like Romance and cowboys this is for you.
I thought about taking a rest day today, but I decided to shove on through and hit the bare minimum via a long #audiowalk with Casey. Gotta preserve my current streak. The exercise gave me a chance to finish BREATHLESS, too, so that‘s all to the good.
Last night‘s enchilada casserole was so good I made it again for lunch. I had a small break while I ate it, but now it‘s back to frantically trying to get my house in order.
Never paint your room on a tight deadline, friends. Those contractors on 1-week house makeover shows must put in 16-hour days. Granted, there are usually a whole bunch of them working together and they probably have a storage unit for all the stuff... #audiocooking
I‘ve been working all out since 9am, and I‘ve ALMOST got all my crap out of other people‘s spaces. Part of why it‘s taking so long is that I wanted to put it all back in its place, not just pile it up, but that‘s proven impossible until I can get my new shelving. Sigh.
I did finish my reading nook! I‘ve got a camping lantern for light, some staggered block shelves in place of a table, and my grandma‘s Russian fairy tale plates for decor.
Another book (I‘m fairly certain I‘m reading this series backwards) and I‘ve traded one cat for another... now Elliot‘s keeping me company. I just love how her one hind leg is sticking up (how are cats even real?) 😸

I have read a lot of historical romances, and I think this is the first one I have read where the unmarried main character speaks positively with her unmarried sister about sex and contraceptives. I‘m not loving this one quite as much as Forbidden, but I really dig the feminist tone this one has. #romantsy
I love me a good cowboy romance and this is one of the best I‘ve read in awhile. Portia was relatable and funny and super strong for the time frame it‘s set. Kent is the cowboy of my dreams. The ending was perfect and I know I‘ve got one more in the series to read! There was more emotional background to this story than the first and it was refreshing to read knowing they could build their relationship based on their history. I loved it so much!
Having a friend weekend with @lacythebookworm. Of course book shopping was involved! Has anyone read this?
So, loving Beverly Jenkins books right now❤️❤️ I read Forbidden first and then Indigo and now time for Breathless.
I need a break from the news. This should take my mind off the state of the world for a few hours.
I'm pretty sure Beverly Jenkins is going to be one of my favourite authors. I loved Portia and Kent's story. This one was filled with a lot more sadness than Forbidden, but I think that helps ground a novel when you have a solid bit of reality. And I love how actual history was woven in - always a bonus in any romance.
I can't wait for Regan's book! #romantsy
#muscles #aprilbookshowers. Look what I saw at the grocery store! Oh the temptation, but I had to resist. I bought too many books this weekend! Maybe I'll go back next week and buy it 😀
Don't mind my blurry photo, this was taken right outside the library as I returned it. This was a very good sequel to Forbidden, and if you've read that then you know exactly what you're getting here. I realized though, that Jenkins has a habit of throwing a plot twist in during the last 20 pages and therefore not spending enough time on it. But other than that, I found this book mostly delightful and historically educational.
Jenkins drops these historical one liners in like they're NBD and then I end up falling down a wiki hole researching them. Not your average mass market romance.
#riotgrams going to cheat a little and use my current book for a spine pic. But I do like when spines have images on them! Now, off to read it for a bit before bed! Didn't get any reading in after work, but I did get the laundry done, baked a banana bread, roasted a big tray of onions and peppers, and pressure cooked 3 lbs of chicken!
I'm about 100 pages in so far, and it's everything I wanted it to be!
I'm just starting to get into reading romance novels and I am loving them so far! Here is my mini collection!#romanticlove #17booklove
Maaaaaybe I overdid it at the library. #riotgrams
The is the best pic I could get of the #outside for Day 12 of #riotgrams, and the book I just finished! Underneath all that snow (at least 2 ft) is the backyard seating area and fire pit. I like to sit out there & read when the weather is nicer. Soon...soon!.

"What's this book called?"
"Breathless."
"Should you read it to me?"
"Well....it's really for grown ups."
"Maybe tomorrow?"
"Maybe."
"I think I'll like it."

Love love love Beverly Jenkins. Loved the characters in this installment as well as the amount of historical facts Jenkins weaves into the storyline. Can't wait for Regan's story.
Oooh. Hi Ms Jenkins. I've missed you.
