Mehso-so

First in the flower shop cozy mystery series…I ended up feeling just meh by the end of this. While the whole idea of a cozy is an amateur sleuth the meddles, Abby takes meddling to a whole new level, and her constant nosing around “in the name of justice” got a little old. There are some humorous bits in this, and I would be willing to continue the series to see how Collins develops the characters. The series is still going strong, so it has fans!

Cinfhen I LOVE the premise…..flower shop mysteries and the title 😂😂😂😂but an annoying main character is TOTALLY unacceptable 🙃 1y

squirrelbrain Hmmm, sounds a bit annoying! 1y
Librarybelle @Cinfhen @squirrelbrain The book got mixed reviews at book club last night, with everyone agreeing that Brooke Shields was not the right choice, descriptively, to play the role…she‘s the lead in the Hallmark movies based on the book series. 1y
Cinfhen Oh wow😲 Brooke Shields…haven‘t thought about her in decades 1y
LaraReads Ugh. Sounds tiresome to have a fun premise but not to enjoy the characters is a pain! (edited) 1y

Second book in the Shardlake series. Excellent character development and lots of interesting historical detail, along with two suspenseful plotlines.

This is my #2004 entry for the #192025 challenge and second book finished for the #AwesomeAugust readathon.

Ruthiella I still have the last book in the series to read, but overall all I really enjoyed the Shardlake books. Solid historical mysteries. 👍 2y

Such a sweet and comporting read.

Camille, Philibert and Franck, three strangers who through coincidences meet. They each have their issues with friends and family. I loved this. It‘s not often I read a 600+p book in 5 days after work.

The only thing I‘m asking myself is why didn‘t I read this sooner? After all it has been standing on my shelves close to 15 yrs.

The last third is my #BookSpin for July

Daisy‘s next #MurderMystery case takes place at a friend‘s wedding. But, when family members are found murdered before the nuptials, what is Daisy going to do to get everything back on track? I greatly enjoy the Daisy Dalrymple series, and this one is no exception. I cannot say more about the characters and circumstances, as relationships and other developments progress in the series, but it‘s a fun 1920s series. Enjoy them on audio! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Cinfhen Lovely cover art 💕 2y

“Like this country, I am a child in extremis. That is why my parents named me Maya -- illusion, the one whom we believe is, but who is not.”

Maya grows up in poverty on the island of #Mauritius, near a luxurious tourist resort. When she falls in love with its manager, she dares to dream but in the end the gap between their two worlds is too big. Her love turns into fury.
