Bodek's grandfather, Zaidy, survived WWII and the Holocaust. We know this going in, and I'm hoping that this is a sustaining light in what is clearly going to be a passage from a dark chapter of history.
The introduction is light, focuses on the author's relationship with and happy memories of his grandfather, but within a couple of dozen pages of the book proper, I'm learning about the ⬇️

This was a fast read, an intriguing thought experiment, a philosophical sci-fi book. What if we could revisit our memories? How powerful would we be? Could we be? Would we choose to be? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #earlyreviewers #arc

I was lucky enough to get a copy of this from the #LibraryThing #EarlyReviewers program back in 2020, and I‘m so glad I finally picked it up. A moving family memoir but even more remarkable for the gorgeous, dense writing and for its meditations on California. I now have a long list of things about my state, past and present, that I need to know more about! I will absolutely read more from Atleework if she writes it.

My goal is humble: making a significant dent into (or possibly finishing?) my #Doublespin book I just started - the e-ARC for #LibraryThing 's #EarlyReviewers.

Won't have much time over the following weekend (birthday of someone special 😊), but big parts of next week look good for reading... 📚

This was quite good. Written by a journalist but super grounded in a whole bunch of social science research. I like the framing of first showing how bias works and then examining some bias-countering practices that have actually worked in areas like education, policing, the workplace, and healthcare. I read this via audio and highlighted key passages in an ARC that I was fortunate enough to receive from #LibraryThing. The author ⬇️⬇️

This past week I‘ve read at a pre-Litsy pace, slowly enjoying The Little Drummer Girl, and not letting NetGalley or library due dates create stress. I have to admit that I‘ve loved the relaxed pace and being able to just enjoy the process of reading. The only stress is coming from needing to finish my #EarlyReviewers book, but I doubt I‘ll finish anything today. That‘s okay. #bookreport

This was a slow to no reading week and I‘m not sure why. I didn‘t picked up another audiobook after I bailed on Hawkline, which is not like me, but I just couldn‘t pick anything. I did finish A Psalm for the Wild-Built, which will probably make my Top 10 list for the year. 💚 Still plugging away at Little Drummer Girl and I started my #LibraryThing #EarlyReviewers book, but I doubt I‘ll finish anything today.
