I really loved this book. Bayard is a underrated author in my opinion. Henry gets caught up in a mystery involving the Elizabethton genius Thomas Harriet, after his best friend dies. His friend Alonzo is a collector of rare books & recently stole a letter from one of his competitors. Of course the man wants his letter back & as executor of the estate Henry is tasked with finding it.

Like most of Towles‘ stories it was enjoyable and fast paced but unfortunately the characters weren‘t as lovable. Some even were past the point of redemption by the end. Still, worth a read. #book1 #pantone2022 #skydiver #christyread22

Exploring racism and the workplace, it doesn‘t turn away from the ugly bits. The Devil Wears Prada meets Get Out was an apt description!
