So many good villains! How to choose? Well it's rough, but Steerpike comes out on top. He's so relentlessly, deliciously EVIL, but at the same time, I feel his pain, the rejection and loneliness...
honorable mention to
•Draco Malfoy (just a baby villain, but still)
•Mrs. Coulter (Dark Materials) but NOT Nicole Kidman, she kinda ruined her for me 😣
•Amy in Gone Girl - Evil but brilliant.

Favorite villains from some of my favorite books would have to be Sauron and Saruman from the Lord of the Rings. Sauron begins his journey to supreme villain from his beginning in the Silmarillion as a servant of Morgoth, and Saruman always seemed truly evil to me in his deception and change of allegiance.

One of my #favevillains is definitely Dolores Umbridge. She is so terrible, ugh, I'm getting mad just thinking about her! #somethingforsept

BookishMarginalia I find her truly terrifying. 8y
mhillis Just started rereading this! 8y
CaitlinCasillas In the end, I really really felt like I wanted Umbridge dead and He who must not be named could have lived and I would have been ok with that. She is the WORST!! 8y

Nuwanda Umbridge makes me furious in a way that even Voldy doesn't. I can't stand the evil masquerading as good. At least with Voldy, what you see is what you get! 8y
Mc_cart_ny Hate hate hate her! 8y
jmtrivera Hem hem! 8y
TheNextBook She makes book five so difficult to read. Every January when I re-read the series I have to take a breather between 4 and 5. It breaks my heart in so many ways. Rowling knew what she was doing when she crafted Umbridge. 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Great pick! I really hated her too! 8y
JSW I had to start skipping the sections with her in them. 8y
mischa I started getting angry at her as soon as I saw your pick. Best worst villain. 8y
Merethebookgal @mhillis Fun! Enjoy your re-read! 8y
Merethebookgal @TheNextBook @mischa Yes, she makes book 5 so hard to read, but Rowling definitely crafted an amazingly evil villain. 8y
Merethebookgal @JSW Yes, she makes my blood boil! 8y
Merethebookgal @CaitlinCasillas @Nuwanda I agree, she was worse than Voldemort in a lot of ways! 8y
Merethebookgal @Mc_cart_ny @Riveted_Reader_Melissa She really is the worst...and just thinking just how terrible she is making me angry again! 😂 8y

Not pictured but still faves-Joe Goldberg of You/Hidden Bodies, Ursula Monkton of The Ocean at the End of the Lane, & Agatha Trunchbull of Matilda. I could go on & on... 😱 #somethingforsept

Raylan: A Novel | Elmore Leonard
post image

Boyd Crowder is one of my #favevillains of all time. As is his relationship to the hero/anti-hero, Raylan Givens. They're two sides of the same coin and have a very complicated history. Seriously one of the most complex relationships and villains ever. Boyd ended up being so good that they kept him on the entire run of the show, he became a main character, and Elmore Leonard wrote him back into a later work! #somethingforsept #septphotochallenge

LeahBergen I LOVE Boyd. ❤️ 8y
raelaschoenherr @LeahBergen Right?! I love this quote too because it's so true. He has the best dialogue. 8y
LeahBergen And I *may* have acquired a teeny case of the hots for him along the way... Is that weird? 😂 8y
raelaschoenherr @Leahbergen Nope, I totally see it. Raylan had my heart but Boyd definitely has a thing going on ☺️ 8y

RealLifeReading @Ifyoucanreadthis_Bina I'm not a fan of Jim Carey but I must say he did play a good Count Olaf 8y
ApoptyGina69 Oh, Tom Ripley! You're so bad, but I want to kiss you lots anyway. 😍 8y
WOCreads Right!? I'm not either but maybe I liked the Film cuz he's the villain😁 8y

mllemay Yes!! So glad I got to experience Wicked to see her in a completely different light! Such a good reminder that nothing is either black or white 💚 8y

Lolita | Vladimir Nabokov

Some of these characters are questionable in terms of whether they can neatly be categorized as "villains," but that's why they're my #favevillains. Clockwise: Humbert Humbert from Lolita, Tracy Flick from Election, Regina George from Mean Girls, Kathryn Merteuil from Cruel Intentions, and Glory from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (Funny that there's some six degrees of Kevin Bacon stuff going on with Tracy, Kathryn, and Glory.) #somethingforsept

KarenUK Pick flick! 8y
katedensen @KarenUK This movie is so relevant right now in the U.S. 😳 8y
