eeclayton Lydgate certainly effed up, but remember he didn't really want to get married at this point in his career. I'm not saying he was forced, though. Also, Rosy is definitely not the helpful wife that supports her spouse through better or worse. 2y

eeclayton I'd be glad to join you for whichever suggestion gets picked. Tess has my vote, but I'd be interested in Bleak House, too. I've read Agnes Grey but I don't remember much, and A Room of One's Own is always worth rereading. 2y

CoffeeNBooks I feel badly for all three of them- Farebrother deserves someone with whom he can share companionship, Fred needs to get his act together so he can be the man Mary wants him to be, and Mary just wants Fred to do a minimal amount in order to be the right man for her. 2y
