Third in the Mobile Library Mystery series. This one was a bit slower than the last two, I thought, but I'm glad of the way it ended. I've been waiting for a particular thing, and it finally happened. Let's see how Israel goes forward from here. #29-2024

#Todayscalendarpage was the perfect way to start my month so I couldn‘t resist sharing. Happy May, Littens! And am I the only one wondering how we got here?!? Where did the last 4 months go?🫠

This was not the light happy book I was expecting. This is a call to arms. This is an honest, and quite scary at times, account of what it's like to work in a hugely underfunded public library in Scotland. It is a plea to use your public libraries - and that they are so much more than just books. As Morgan says they “level the playing field“. Morgan brings the characters from the library to life, and is very honest in her opinion of management!

Mrs_B Also - great audiobook. Which I borrowed from my library. 2w

The Underground Library

I can't believe this is my first book by this author. It was excellent. Very well written and researched. Based on a true story. One that I had no idea existed. To move a library underground was such a great thing to do. It helped people who did not have access to it before. And there is the fact that it was bombed and needed to be moved....
One of the best I've read this year.

CatLass007 I haven‘t read this yet but I want to. I have read The Little Wartime Library by Kate Thompson. According to the description of both books they are fictional accounts of the same true story. 3w
Lsmoore43 @CatLass007 I haven‘t read that one. I may have to look it up. This one is so good and yes based on a true story. Well researched. 3w

CatLass007 I definitely would encourage you to look it up. I‘m going to check out The Underground Library. #BlameItOnLitsy. 3w

Fine but not as good as Ryan's other books. All the conflicts felt too easily resolved, and the characters did a lot of Talking the Talk about Grand Ideas but not a lot of simply walking the walk. Telling and not showing is such a letdown. #historicalfiction

Book 2 in The Mobile Library mysteries. I'm struggling a bit because, while the stories are entertaining, they're not written in a way that you can "solve" the mystery along with the characters. Information is withheld to make a bigger reveal when they figure it out. Israel is not adapting to his new environment at all. We should be seeing his grow as a person along the way. Can someone please tell me what SPK means in this context? #28-2024
