9-23-25: My 63rd finished book of 2025! Book 4 in the series, this one goes back in time to the late 1950s. HM Elizabeth II is in the midst of a lot of traveling to other countries when in her own backyard, there is a double murder and the police can‘t seem to figure it out. After enlisting Joan, a typist, she finally has someone to bounce her ideas off to. Joan is sent around to find clues that the cops keep overlooking. ⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣6️⃣3️⃣

This book was a little bittersweet since it was written just before the Queen died. It‘s such a fun series though with Her Majesty solving crimes without anyone knowing except her trusty assistant Rozie.

mcctrish I loved this one! I love this series ( and I‘m a bit worried about what comes next - I know a death in diamonds is next and I think there is another book planned - but it‘s series I enjoy so I want it to go on) (edited) 5mo
Bookwormjillk @mcctrish I know, same. I have A Death In Diamonds coming soon from the library. Should be interesting. I‘ll miss Rozie though. 5mo
mcctrish I just read that Diamonds goes back in time to when the Queen is younger so no Rozie but we get around real life 5mo
Bookwormjillk @mcctrish 🤞This is a favorite series so I‘m glad it can go on in some way. 5mo

Lovely and meandering in the best possible way. Seriously, I‘m not sure how Queen Elizabeth‘s handbags haven‘t gotten some kind of honour for their decades of silent and faithful service. I got oddly emotional at points, especially later in the book (maybe because I personally remember the emotion of those moments). I‘m glad it ended shortly after William and Kate‘s wedding, because I bawled at the end of The Crown and could not handle that again.

GingerAntics This portrays Charles as hard done by and far more innocent in the collapse of his first marriage that is fair. Even though this is written by an American, it still does a wonderful job of telling the story of the late Queen. #SallyBedellSmith #ElizabethTheQueen #ElizabethII 6mo

Murder Most Royal (Her Majesty the Queen Investigates 3), by S.J. Bennett (2022)

Premise: Her Majesty‘s Christmas celebrations are interrupted by the discovery of a severed hand on the beach near her Sandringham Estate, a hand bearing a signet ring she instantly recognizes.

Review: This is another solid entry in this charming series. The Christmas vibes were fun, and the setting of the end of 2016 added an interesting element to the story.

I enjoyed just how the author portrayed the Queen‘s humanity in this book. She was quite likable to me & had me rooting for her! It‘s 1957, & Queen Elizabeth, new at her royal role, suspects someone among her father‘s courtiers intends to sabotage her reign in public.2 bodies are discovered in Chelsea that are possibly linked to her monarchy. She asks an ex-code breaker to help her unravel the truth. #serieslove2025 #4

Bookwormjillk I didn‘t know there were more of these! Yay! 8mo
kspenmoll @Bookwormjillk I have #1 in my TBR but not the others, so I am reading out of order. I got this #4 thru Libby. There is a #5 being published this year. 8mo
