No real standouts for March, but this was the Scarlett book most like Noel Streatfeild's children's books, so of course I enjoyed it.

Andrew65 Looks a good read. (edited) 12mo

BarkingMadRead @dabbe I totally agree, let Dobbin come back, I don‘t much care about the other two! 1y

Engrossing story about two theatrical families putting on a show in post-WWII England. There are two romance going on but it's really more about the theater experience and how everyone in the family is part of it, which is great fun to read about. Dancing Shoes, my favorite Steatfeild, is fairly obviously a reworking of this book, but it's different enough to not make this annoying to read.

Wartime: Britain 1939-1945 | Juliet Gardiner
Pickpick

This ia s great place to start if you want to know more about everyday lives in Britain from 1939-45, both those who fought and those who remained at home to fight on the Home Front.

When I found this fascinating little book in our local secondhand bookshop, I was drawn in by the plethora of photos. What I took away from it was how resilient the children of wartime had been and how brave.

This was such an inspiring read.

katy4peas Historian and knitter Kristen Howard will explore the role knitting played in wartime codes and correspondence, from providing a cover for women spies in WWII to the use of knitting to disguise or amplify messages. 3y

A great read that explains all the many sneaky ways in which the allies won the war.

An emotional look at women in the military, past and present. Emily is driven to disguise herself as a man to serve along side her brother during the Civil War. Larkin is a veteran learning to live again as a civilian after 2 deployments to Afghanistan. Through Emily's diary, Larkin begins to cope with her PTSD and finds a way to enjoy life again. Thoroughly researched, Estes brings to life some "badass" women whose stories deserve telling. ??
