Can‘t decide if I should read this (Steve Jobs) or Long Walk to Freedom (Nelson Mandela) or Eleanor Roosevelt (by Cook). Thoughts? Pick my (non-fiction) book! Headed on a cruise with whichever of these and a fiction (TBD) book! I wish we had a “pick my book” thing... hmmm. PS: always a cat. #bookcat #pickmybook
3 cats, one 100# dog somehow just out of sight, and a fire. How else to begin a day reading?
Thank you, Ashley! Looks like breakfast, lunch, and dinner to me! I‘ve never done a swap before and appreciate your note and goodies! I‘ve also never read Ann Patchett (crazy, I know!) so this is perfect! Can‘t wait to start in on it! #jolabokaflodswap #jolabokaflod
Ugh. Painful. Painful to say it was painful but it was about as bad as it could get. I‘m hoping the author‘s book of essays is better. The writing is trying really hard but just doesn‘t work (for me). I found some sentences taking 2-3 reads before figuring out what each was trying to say (editing issues?). Lackluster characters ugh just a bore fest. Sorry, hard hard pass. So here‘s a pic of a turtle crossing my yard a few days ago. Ugh.
Ahhhhhhhh if you have to be up before dawn, this is how you do it 🔥🐈☕️📖
I‘m glad I read this- it‘s my daughter‘s (13) favorite book. The wonky writing style simply didn‘t work for me. I can appreciate what he was doing- it just fell flat on me. I‘m so glad she read this and really took in the history. A necessary book but .... it didn‘t grip me like it intended.
And so it begins. I‘ve been intrigued by his science-based information and that proceeds from his books and speaking go to charity. Going to read and see if it sits well with me. Here we go!
My first ever swap of any kind 🤣. I hope @AriThomas loves it! Thank you for arranging, @MaleficentBookDragon #JolabokaflodSwap
If you‘re interested in tarot, or an expert in tarot, I wholeheartedly recommend Benebell Wen‘s compendium of a book, Holistic Tarot. This is also the 4th (? since she started it) year I‘m using her Metaphysician‘s Day Planner. Best plan er fo my needs and so full of useful info. My “mysticat” was supervising my morning activities- setting up the new one for 2020!
The book is far better than the movie. While the dialogue can make you cringe, admittedly I learned much about this time period- peoples, places, origins of good/bad/ugly customs & events. The character story of Scarlett is chilling and sad and .... can touch home with anyone who loses their way or gets caught up in false pretenses. Rhett is an interesting character- all too real before his time. I‘m so glad I read this for so, so many reasons!
Back in my natural habitat. Impossible to read without a catstand.
1. Gone with the Wind
2. Scarlett had little use these days for honesty in herself, but the less she valued it in herself the more she was beginning to value it in others. [I came here to post this blurb, still trying to find my way in LitsyLand, thought I‘d try one of these!]
3. Campfire coffee with cream, the best!

I do love this book for its interesting peek at a particular time and place. Some parts of this book truly make me cringe (this being one of the more benign moments).
Took a little break to read on our deck. My mother got my name from this book and while I‘ve seen the movie, I‘ve never read it. I love it! Tiny detail but there‘s actually a little alligator in the background. He‘s fun to watch (as he‘s maybe 3 feet).
Perfect Saturday, my daughter reading with our book cat, Osana ❤️
What a gripping read. Sometimes I forget what an “ivory tower” I, and many of us, live in. This book is moving from start to finish. The way the author writes kept me reading even when I should‘ve been doing something else. Not the happiest of reads, so be prepared, but definitely a read that causes pause and makes you think, rethink, evaluate, and reevaluate so much. Excellent. Please leave a comment “if you love this, you‘ll also like [...]”
Help! We need ideas for a reading-based science fair project! Requirement: to be done only by my 8th grade kiddo, the reader! She is an avid YA reader! Thank you for any ideas!
This book started with a fascinating bang. And while the detail is incredible, I find the read tedious. I have to focus on staying attentive. Yet somehow I don‘t want to give up on the book due to its unique information. 50% read thus far. Ugh.
This book is gripping! I love books that move your emotions and senses! Please recommend ones you love that do the same!! Also, I cannot figure out how to post a pic without Litsy cropping it! Let‘s see if it posts ok so long as I don‘t manipulate it! Happy Thursday!
This was, without a doubt, the worst book I‘ve read in decades. I was hoping I could give this 2 stars had the ending been spectacular but his book was a bore throughout. What did I just read? Didn‘t bail on it for 2 reasons: the kiddo chose it from my unread shelf for me to read and... the brilliance of JKR. She‘s brilliant but this book was brutal, sorry :( I only apologize because it pains me to say it. Hard pass on the rest in this series.

The view today does not suck. The book however......... it pains me to say it‘s a grueling read for me.....
First post. Trying to figure this site out. My teen is at Booknet Fest and, as chaperone, I suppose I‘ll just relax all weekend and read. Hard to relax when this book makes you laugh, snort, and sniffle :)
