The past and the present collide in the most unexpected ways in #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah Pekkanen's latest thriller, The House of Glass. Rose Barclay is an 8-year-old girl who witnessed the death of her nanny ?in the midst of her parents' contentious divorce? and immediately fell into traumatic mutism. Stella Hudson is a Best Interest Attorney, appointed to serve as counsel for children in custody cases. She never accepts clients under 13 due to her own traumatic childhood, but Stella's mentor, a revered judge, believes Stella is the only one who can help. From the moment Stella passes through the iron security gate and steps into the gilded, sprawling D.C. home of the Barclays, she realizes the case is even more twisted, and the Barclay family far creepier, than she feared. And there's something off about the house itself: its a plastic house, with not a single bit of glass to be found. As Stella comes closer to uncovering the secrets the Barclays hold close, danger wraps around her like a shroud, and her past and present collide in ways she never expected. Everyone is a suspect in the nanny's murder. The mother, the father, the grandmother, the nanny's boyfriend. Even Rose. Is the person Stella's supposed to protect the one she may need protection from? From bestselling thriller writer, Sarah Pekkanen, comes a new, riveting novel filled with buried secrets and page-turning twists.

This was an interesting book that I enjoyed. The story was told by Stella. It was about Beth and Ian getting a divorce and Stella was suppose to find out who their daughter, Rose, was supposed to have custody of. She goes to their house and notices there is no glass in the house. Everything that usually has glass is now plexiglass.

EadieB Stella meets Harriet, the grandmother, who informs Stella that Tina, the nanny, had an affair with Ian but Tina has been killed. Stella is determined to find out who killed Tina. If you enjoy complex mystery stories then you will love this book. I didn‘t figure out who the killer was until the end of the book. Highly Recommended! 3d

Just finished this one. It‘s a pretty decent thriller with a satisfying ending. Now I have to decide what is next. My TBR is ridiculously long. 🙃

This is a novel full of twists and turns that I enjoyed. There are a lot of chapters in this novel, and I do mean a lot, creating a fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat novel. The ending was a little odd though, and didn‘t quite fit with the story and the characters in my opinion. I went back and forth with the audiobook. My biggest issue was the pace of the narration. For a novel that is supposed to be a thriller the narration was way too slow.

Oooh, creepy and good! This was a recent #botm selection and I liked it a lot. This is my 6th book by Pekkanen and I think she consistently writes great thrillers!

Ohhhh....it‘s a good one - don‘t miss it!!

A house full of people with secrets and a nanny that was pushed to her death.

Could it have been the cheating husband, the scorned wife, the grandmother, or even nine-year-old Rose who hides sharp things in her pockets and room?

Something isn‘t right in this house or with this murder.

Tension abounds. 5/5

WOW a true page turner ! Stella Hudson is a BIA, best interest attorney/child advocate who has a new case: 9 yo Rose has traumatic mutism after watching her nanny fall through the 3rd floor window to her death. A custody case that morphs into a criminal case…who can Stella believe?

House of Glass

I liked this book but didn't love it. It just didn't WOW me like her other books have. But it was still good. I did find it easy to figure out. I was spot on correct in who did what and why... But it was still very good. This author always delivers good books.

This is a story about a little girl. In a way it's about two little girls.

I‘m so bored with this and just kept trying to push through, but I‘m giving up at 64%.

I feel like this plot is being dragged out and nothing is really happening anymore.

I will try this author again but this wasn‘t the one for me.

Pekkanen does a great job here making you wade through the lies and half truths to try and figure out what really happened to Tina, Rose‘s nanny who fell out a third floor window, and who, if any, of the Barclay‘s should be trusted. Stella knows they‘re all lying or hiding something, but I was right along with her trying to figure out exactly what that was.

I like this author, so I was immediately drawn to this book. The problem for me was the pace. It was very slow paced and I really had to force myself to stay committed to finishing the book. In the last 25% things started picking up and I enjoyed the end quarter of the novel.🎆🎆🎆

Thank you #NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my finish opinion.

The Book of the Month choices are live! Whoo hoo! 🥳🎉🎉🎉 They have some really good choices lined up for July! I already have an arc of The Lost Story (which I just started, and it's marvelous!), and I pre-ordered The God of the Woods, so I decided to go with the new Pekkanen as my pick! As usual, I could not resist some of these add-ons as well! 🙈 What is everyone else going with this month? #botm

marleed I forgot to look for even more July add ons than already posted so I missed the opportunity to get Love of my after-life. I already had 5 books and I‘m not sure which one I might have dropped for afterlife. I was impressed with the choices! 6mo

Stella is a lawyer who has been asked to represent a little girl who is in the middle of a custody case. Her parents are getting divorced because her dad had an affair with the nanny AND the nanny died when she fell out of a window. The girl, Rose, is not talking and Stella must help the courts decide which parent she will live with while figuring out what happened to the nanny. This book gave off BABY TEETH vibes which was a book I loved.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Yes!! I thought the same! 🖤 5mo
