Lisa Marie's memoir as completed by her daughter after Lisa Marie's passing. This memoir has received a good deal a praise and I had hopes for something relevatory. Behind the fame they'd share something true and universal about family. But that's not really what this is. It's a series of tragedies, a litany of defeat. A soft pick because it is organized well and the blended authorship works well but this just made me so sad.

This story was fascinating,brilliant, and so very sad.

What an incredible book that I bought and read. The last two chapters I cried.

Lisa Marie‘s life as told by herself and her daughter. Interesting accounts of Elvis‘s life and death, and the joy and pain having a godlike father can bring.

I was surprised by how easy this was to listen to. Even though Lisa Marie Presley‘s story is upsetting in many ways, the writing was informal and conversational. The chapters by Her daughter, Riley Keough, added a lot to the story and flow. Great on #audio , the narration by Julia Roberts and Ms Keough was lovely!

I had only general knowledge of Lisa Marie ahead of this - her famous father and her multiple marriages (most notably to Michael Jackson). This memoir covers these topics and much more, painting a fuller understanding of her life, her struggles, and the essence of who she was.
I would describe Lisa Marie as a beloved mother who loved fiercely despite, or maybe because of, the devastating loss that irrevocably changed the path of her life.

I read this and decided to listen to it bc excerpts of Lisa Marie‘s voice is on this. Think it is better on Audible! Heartbreaking each time. I‘d recommend this even if not an Elvis fan. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

It was on the library shelf. Of course I‘m going to grab it. Don‘t you slow down and look at car crashes as you pass by? I was never a fan of Elvis but I was curious about Lisa Marie. Then as I was reading I kept getting Lisa Marie & her mother confused as I was reading it, but that‘s my own problem. It‘s clear that audio is the better way to go with this one. Unfortunately, I did not go that route. My suggestion: definitely a borrow, not a buy.

Such a sad book from someone who really had everything until her dad died. The beginning of the book felt a little manic, probably because it was Lisa Marie‘s real words. It was kinda all over the place and made more sense when Riley became more of the narrative. I was surprised about her relationship with Michael Jackson. I really thought at the time that it some weird PR stunt. Overall enjoyed the book but man, what a tragedy.

Like many celebrity memoirs, the writing is not great. I listened to the audio and it was fun to have Julia Roberts as the narrator. Some of the stories were fun to listen to but some were unnecessary and made her sound like a brat. It would probably be more interesting for bigger fans of Elvis.

Completely heartbreaking. Generational and cyclic drug abuse, feelings of inadequacy, early parental deaths. It just breaks your heart to learn about Lisa Marie's troubles and how she tried so hard to become a better, hands-on parent.

You have to appreciate someone who becomes vulnerable by allowing scrutiny and criticism from fans and the press when all their lives they tried to stay away from the limelight.

My neurological/spinal problems didn't surface until I tried to dance to Austin Butler's Elvis. I was swinging my arms to Suspicious Minds and thought that doesn't feel right. That was in April. The dance caused a pinched nerve. The MRI proved how long I was dealing with arthritis and myelopathy. So, I will always be grateful for Elvis and his music.

There is a lot to unpack in this one. I really liked the biography being told in two voices- Lisa Marie and Riley (her daughter). It‘s really hard to look away from the trauma, addictions, love, permission = love, celebrities, wealth, familial drama. If you want engaging, this is it, and it is a perfect book club book, as there is quite a bit to talk about!

My library hold came in, so I‘m listening to Lisa Marie Presley‘s story as narrated by Julia Roberts and Lisa‘s daughter, Riley Keough. I‘ve visited Graceland but I never knew a great deal about Elvis‘s personal life or that of his wife and daughter. So far it‘s quite engaging, though sad. #auldlangspine

I had to experience his memoir on audio with audiotapes from Lisa Marie augmented with perspective from Riley. It‘s the later that made everything about this feel incredibly genuine. It‘s a beautiful tribute from an eldest child for her deceased mother and if there‘s a way, I‘m sure Lisa Marie is incredibly proud of the work she began and the final product completed by Riley.

1-1-25: My 1st finished book of 2025! I read this in a day. A fascinating look at the daughter of Elvis Presley‘s life through her own words and those of her daughter, Riley. Sadly, Lisa Marie passed away before this book was finished so her daughter‘s words are heard throughout the memoir to help flesh it out. Lisa Marie came from rock and roll royalty but had a difficult life with many ups and downs but she loved her children fiercely.

An emotional journey that delves into themes of love, loss, and resilience. The middle section of the memoir, while still meaningful, slowed compared to the emotionally gripping beginning and end. This memoir is heartwarming and heartbreaking, a testament to the bonds of family and the complexities of living under immense fame. It‘s a hard story, but told with incredible authenticity. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ❤️📚

Ending the year on a literary high note! This was a surprisingly fantastic and compelling read. Her life was filled with fascinating experiences, deep pain, and grief that truly broke my heart. What an incredible memoir!

I absolutely adored this book! Lisa shared stories about growing up in Graceland, and even her returns to Graceland as an adult. Her relationship with her dad was amazing. This memoir covers everything from her adolescent struggles, the relationship with her mom, marriages, children, addiction, and her son‘s tragic suicide. Lisa‘s own death is also detailed in the book.

•Lisa Marie Pressley passed away before she could finish her memoir, so her daughter filled in the rest of what she didn‘t get to and she did an amazing job. While it had eccentricities it was also undeniably interesting.
•Riley Keough was amazing and Julia Roberts was phenomenal.

Loved learning about another side of Elvis, the caring Dad who adored his only daughter. Lisa Marie inherited that nurturing side as we hear sweet stories from her daughter. This audiobook is both heartwarming and heart-wrenching. Loved hearing the history of Graceland too. I visited there the same month Elvis passed and got to walk the front grounds and see the hundreds of flower arrangements. One from Ann-Margret was shaped like a guitar. 5⭐️‘s

This book hit home a little too hard. Not because it‘s the story of Elvis‘s family. But because it‘s the story of loss and grief. The story of a daughter losing a father. The story of a sister losing her brother. The story of going thru hard things. I know how these things feel. The situations are not the same but grief is grief. And I can relate to that.

I highly recommend the audiobook. Riley shares parts of the tapes her mother left behind. Lisa Marie was a lost soul who really loved and missed her father. It seems she never got over the loss of him. This book really stuck with me.

Man this book was heart breaking. For someone who was born with so much, Lisa Marie Presley had a sad and often lonesome life. This book gives some glimpses into her life, with insights from her daughter Riley who finished the book after Lisa Marie died. The audiobook was great, with clips from Lisa Marie herself. I do wonder if she‘d lived, if she‘d have wanted to finish this book at all, since she seemed to value her privacy so much.

I enjoyed this, but I didn‘t love it. The audiobook is extremely well done with Riley reading her reflections on her mom and Julia Roberts reading Lisa Marie‘s parts. Overall, I wanted more but feel embarrassed to ask for it. Riley has lost so much that she was brave to take this on. I just yearned for something meatier. Most surprising revelation: Lisa Marie and Michael Jackson weren‘t a stunt, and she took his virginity. 😳

Audio-puzzling with a view!

I don‘t have a huge interest in Elvis or his life, but this was well-reviewed on here and was available on audio on BorrowBox so I thought I‘d give it a go, and I‘m so glad I did.

It‘s an unusual format, but really worked to tell Lisa Marie‘s (and Riley‘s) story. I learned so much about their lives, most of it heartbreakingly sad, but Riley took care to tell how great a mother Lisa Marie was.

Narrated by both Riley Keough and Julia Roberts, this is the story of Lisa-Marie Presley in her own words. Some of it confused me as it was not strictly chronological. What did come through was the love and appreciation she had for her father. And the difficulties in her relationship with her mother, Priscilla. The loneliness and addiction were heartbreaking. Not 100% successful for me but a very interesting text.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Definitely go audio here. Julia Roberts gives voice to the late Lisa Marie, who tragically passed during this memoir‘s writing. Keough narrates her own parts perfectly as well. At times, I wanted more detail, but this really was the right amount. Joyous and sad, much like most lives, though most of us didn‘t have a superstar father. Loved how this was organized. A must-read for memoir fans!

I‘m seriously so emotional and spent most of the last chapter sobbing 😭 If you read this, do yourself a favor and listen to the audio. Riley honored her mother in such a beautiful way ♥️

It was a very emotional, tough read. She was very open about everything she had gone through. It's so sad that the addiction she had, even though she had quit using it, ultimately took her life. It's also sad that she never felt love after her dad died. I think she searched for love like her dad's the rest of her life.

Lisa Marie Presley‘s unfinished memoir, as constructed by her daughter (and I assume ghost writers) as told from Lisa Marie‘s perspective and complimented by Riley‘s experiences from that period of their lives. These two perspectives were narrated by Riley herself and Julia Roberts for Lisa Marie‘s sections in the audiobook, both very well done. Lisa Marie‘s life was bookended by the loss of two men: her father and her son. Heartbreaking.

Super excited about this one! I pre-ordered before it came out and finally have a chance to sit down and read!

This is one of the most powerful memoirs I have ever read. As a woman and mother, I acutely felt the truth and love of Lisa Marie's life. Hearing the story from both mother and daughter made it even more impactful. I chose to listen to this audiobook and highly recommend it for readers to experience. This is ultimately a story about family, pain and grief, addiction and healing, that readers will empathize with and draw strength from.

I thought about ‘haunt‘ after viewing the movie “Priscilla”, then listening to this book. Elvis was haunted, as in tormented; his compulsions and addictions defined his life and death. It seems that Lisa Marie followed a similar path through losing her daddy and her only son, and resorted to heavy drug use and self destruction. The book is unique: it includes passages from daughter Riley, Lisa on a recording, interspersed with narration by⬇️

Read this in one sitting. Loved how Riley used her mom‘s words from tapes then added her insight. Just a telling of how it was for Lisa Marie to grow up in Graceland. Those sad eyes after her dad passed.😔 So hard to grow up under the legend of Elvis. Priscilla as a mother?😏 The ending got me😢 Addiction is terrible.
