I am always intrigued by books about slimming down clutter and simplifying -- because our outer environment reflects our inner one, so I started this one (French edition) to refresh my language skills. But I eventually came to a part where it was suggested that I would need to toss out all my wardrobe, beauty products, handbag, etc and buy new trendy stuff. I didn't proceed.
#simplicity is a process rather than a destination! @darklunarose

Darklunarose Simplicity is what makes your life easier, throwing away lots of stuff is not going to do that for many of us. Also a lot of people can not afford (literally can not afford) to throw things away Willy Nilly 2y
LindaLappin @Darklunarose it's also a process in which you observe yourself, habits, and attachment to things, people, attitudes, to see what you really can let go of and what you truly need. different parts of yourself have different needs--and those can change over time. in a way it's like weeding a garden I suppose. 2y
LindaLappin Loreau's point was that if you have good quality multifunctional basics in everything from clothes, house furnishings, personal care items, kitchen gear --the paraphernalia of the quotidian --your life will be easier, you'll save money--you'll be more satisfied. & have a healthier impact on the planet. not bad advice --but I can't afford many of the products she recommends either. 2y
Darklunarose That is very spot on! 2y

Delighted to announce the upcoming radio play A Public of Two, adapted from my novel Katherine's Wish about the life of #KatherineMansfield. This chapter deals with the #friendship of Mansfield and #VirginiaWoolf
The play will be performed by a troupe of brilliant young actors in UK, under the direction of Yorick Radio Productions. It will be available on all podcast platforms, & I will share the links when ready! Please stop by for a listen!

Michael_Gee I look forward to this! Added to my calendar. Their friendship had a fascinating dynamic. I loved reading about it in Woolf‘s diaries. Her entry a week after KM‘s death sticks with me, it is such an honest recording of grief and the confusion of emotions. 2y
LindaLappin @Michael_Gee yes, it was a very conflicted relationship- of attraction, identification, and rivalry...they were very wary of each other, while admiring each other's work deeply. KM, whose economic situation was complex due to her father's stinginess thought VW lived in the lap of luxury. She had no idea of VW's physical & mental suffering. VW, on her part, saw KM as underbred, with the wrong perfume and too much make up...and yet could she write! 2y
LindaLappin @Michael_Gee thank you for your interest - the play is 15 mins long, and I haven't been present at the later rehearsals, so it will be a surprise for me too. It will be available indefinitely on Yorick's podcasts after release. thank you so much for your interest. As soon as the link is ready I will post it here. thanks again 2y
