The Dating Plan | Sara Desai
post image
Pickpick

The Dating Plan is the definition of contemporary rom-com. It's a light, fun read with some steamy bits. The main characters, Daisy and Liam are likeable, and while the storyline is a bit formulaic, there are a few surprises that make it feel fresh. I definitely recommend it for the hopeless romantics out there.

Nicely paced with a ton of fun red herrings. I liked The Guest List a bit more than this one because it was a quicker read, but this is still a pick for me!

#UnpopularOpinion Overall, I liked this book, but it was much too slow, and I wasn't a fan of the alternating timelines. I found myself wanting to skip the parts set in the 1700s, and the first 100 pages could have been condensed to maintain the pace of the rest of the book.

Houlahan should design rollercoasters because that is exactly what reading Norco ‘80 felt like in all the best ways. The pacing was at times a slow build and at others, a fast-paced dive and barrel roll through the events of a bank robbery gone wrong. I wouldn‘t recommend the audiobook as there are too many names and details to remember, but this little piece of history is truly fascinating. I will never look at Hamner and Fourth St. the same.

I'm not usually a huge fan of Romance as a genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed Bringing Down the Duke. It is a quick, light read and very much like an overtly sexual Pride and Prejudice.

Common shares what life has taught him about love in every sense of the word. He writes from a place of humility and openness. While I understand that this is a memoir, it felt too introspective, as if each chapter was a journal entry. While others may connect more with this format, it was a bit too circular for me. I think this would be better as an audiobook, and while it fell flat for me, we can all benefit from the overall message.

I did not meet my reading goal for 2019, like not even close. In part, I blame the fact that I started playing the piano again, but I also just fell into a reading slump. Recursion has officially lifted me out of that slump for 2020. I‘m about 30 pages in, and I can‘t put it down!

Help, Littens! I am a little under half-way through this book, and I am struggling to maintain interest. I have heard such wonderful things about this book, but, for the life of me, I‘m not sure I can finish this book. Should I stick with it?

CuriousG I just started reading this...hoping it keeps my interest as I too have heard so many good things about it. I do know that in her first novel I definitely felt there was a lull, but it was worth sticking with it. Maybe the same for this one? 5y
