I absolutely LOVED this book and I completely devoured it. I want to be Harriet when I grow up. I love her knowledge of plants, her free and confident power. The beginning is about the frustrations of women and by the end the justice is sweet. The thriller part comes in the 2nd half. I don‘t want to add spoilers because there would be many, but the witchy feel, the perimenopausal reframe of empowerment made this my favourite book of the year!

This book took me so long to get through. I read the first bit, desert woman so quickly and related to her, but soon realized I‘ve experienced each of the wild woman archetypes in different times in my life. I also read the end quickly and I think that‘s because I‘ve gone through a full cycle. There is a lot of reflection and tools in this book, but it can feel very repetitive. I was ready for the next wild woman before each chapter closed.

This isn‘t a genre I usually read, but I recommend it. It was very fast paced and suspenseful. The leader of a gang is Lola, but everyone thinks it‘s her boyfriend. Until she needs to prove herself to the Cartel and then Lola is thrown into a territory war. The author softens these hard characters and made them well rounded with B storylines. This is a violent book, but there are many themes in this book for a book club, so great pick for that!

I picked up this book for a Litsy read along and it was so good I couldn‘t just read 2 chapters a day. I now know why Romantasy is such a popular new genre. It‘s romance with a thrilling, action packed B-storyline. This story felt like a beauty and the beast spin off, which made me enjoy it more. It also had a little Psyche trials of proving her love of Eros to Aphrodite spin too. I love that particular Greek myth. So, all in all I‘d recommend it!

This was a magical, thought provoking novel. It was also written concisely with just the right amount of emotion. The emotional parts snuck up on me and I‘d find myself weeping. It was a lovely read and I couldn‘t help thinking if I had a chance to go back in time for just a moment, even if it couldn‘t change the present is there anything I‘d want to say or do. This is one of those books that reminds you to seize the day.

This wasn‘t like anything else I‘ve ever read. I read the audiobook and recommend for the Cree spoken in it but will borrow a copy to browse the amazing art. This book has mythology, history, art, sex (a lot),culture and mind bending perspectives. Miss Chief is a shapeshifter, non-gendered, demi-god, lover, and heroine. It‘s the story of the beginning of existence to first contact with European settlers on turtle island. ⬇️

Excellent as always and this one had all the side characters front and centre. They end up neck deep in murder, bad, good and sexy cops, lovers, her mother, sister, kids and ex-husband, plus adolescents, boss bitches, many bad guys, and a little dog too! It was so full but the author still managed to make it concise. Vero and Finley‘s friendship is as brilliant as ever. Great series! I‘m excited to see what they will get up to in the next one.

This is the most unique Jane Austen spin-off I‘ve ever read. I have myself sometimes wondered what it would have been like to be in Jane Austen‘s world, like one of her heroines. Courtney behaved naughtier than I would have. I think I would have been more scared after the whole asylum threat from her mother. Regardless, I enjoyed it! I would have liked a little more information at the end, but it was still satisfying. I recommend for Austen fans.

This book definitely gave me spiritual tools I‘ve never used before and I had many “aha moments” reading this book. If you feel you have a spiritual gift you‘d like to unlock or need some inspiration then I‘d recommend.

It‘s a 15 day program and I do wish it clearly has something for each day instead of this is what you do for 3 days at a time. I also sometimes felt lost with what bonus tools to use when.

But for the soul aspect it was good.

This is an excellent book. I love all the research on shame and vulnerability. Also how she differentiates the difference between guilt and shame. Brilliant. I think this will help me improve my relationships with family and friends. I feel I‘m daring greatly in my life and will continue to strive too. Some of her techniques when I find myself in a position when I‘ve been shame triggered will really help like all her tips for shame resilience.

This is the 1st Sherlock I‘ve read, but I‘ve read/watched many spin-offs which I love. I didn‘t realize that it would be a collection of short stories. Most spin-offs are of 1 case with a strong B-storyline. The mysteries were excellent but it was missing that B-storyline that pulls me through the narrative. I think if there was more character development with Watson then it wouldn‘t have taken so long to read it. I felt no urgency to pick it up.

I finally made my 52 books a year goal! I‘ve tried for 3 years and finally made it! 🥳

This book has practical advice and the chapters were small and precise. When I first started the book I was flying through it but once it gets to the actionable advice it inevitably slows it down especially if you are currently working on a manuscript. I‘d recommend for anyone that is starting the process of writing. This books gives you support right to the end with a couple pep talks to get you through the potentially crushing editorial notes.

This was a super cute holiday romance. It was exactly what I was looking for! I was raised Christian but am Muslim. So the interfaith theme was delightful. I also felt connect to Anna who celebrates both Jewish and Christian holidays. I loved all the characters, they were all so lovable and the Christmas town made it the perfect holiday book. I also remember that bad storm in Canada. And the extra layer of Canadian Maple leafs humour was good too.

I was always curious about this book because of The Jane Austen book club. I don‘t read sci-fi often and the 1st half of the book didn‘t do it for me but I kept reading and I‘m so glad I did. This story kinda sneaks up on you and I loved it. There is so much to unpack in this story of an alien going to a new planet hoping to form an alliance. His presence causes fear, excitement and betrayal. It‘s so well written and ultimately a hero‘s journey.

I absolutely love this movie and was excited about reading the book. All the elements were there, but this isn‘t the same story. My biggest disappointment was the Aunts. They‘re favourite characters for me and they aren‘t main characters. Also they seem colder and older. Saly and Gillian don‘t even live with them or do magic. Anyway, I‘m so glad that this story produced the movie and can‘t wait to see number 2, but I didn‘t enjoy it as much.

Brilliant! This is the most complicated operation Charlotte and her lovable team have ever executed. I‘d never be able to guess all the moving parts and it made it thrilling to the end. If you haven‘t read other books you may get lost because many characters from the past resurface. She does a good job with reminders without interrupting the book, but if this is your 1st one you‘d be overwhelmed. But for the rest of us it‘s amazing!💗 this series!

This book was excellent, especially for anyone with narcissistic trauma. I really liked how its for the survivors/victims of this kind of abuse. The beginning outlines the narcissistic personality traits and the type of people that attract them. It was informative but also disheartening, but stick with it because she gives you so many tools/strategies and ways to determine if the relationships you‘re in are also narcissistic. So, worth the read!

This was the 1st romance we‘ve done on Book Interrupted and honestly I‘ve read better. I usually love the hate to love narrative being a huge P&P fan, but it was just okay. The movie wasn‘t good. They casted Josh all wrong and ruin the best scene in the book: the elevator. But, the podcast discussion was super fun. We talked about pick-up artists, incels, bad guys and does adding some crime to the romance make it more enjoyable?

This was an excellent book that I couldn‘t put down. I‘ve read the Sociopath Next Door and this book adds insight, facts and personal experience from the sociopaths perspective. She explains how she experiences the world and how our culture has failed to understand people with sociopathy. I hope her research is able to help those feeling lost within their condition. I loved the Jessica Rabbit analogy “I‘m not bad, I was just drawn that way.”

I almost bailed in the beginning, because Linus‘s life working for the Department in charge of Magical Youth was super sad & boring. I‘m glad I stuck with it because his life is supposed to be that way for contrast and makes the ending more delightful. The magical children at the orphanage were hilarious and endearing. This is where the story really starts. Arthur was my favourite character and as the book evolves he only gets even more lovable.

This book has it all for any book lover. It has famous bookshops, authors and books. It has magic, history and 2 timelines. The main storylines are excellent. A search for a manuscript, a bookshop and freedom. The 3 main characters are brave, but also put in very difficult life situations. Opaline, Martha and Henry are all lovable characters that you are cheering for. There are twists in the story as well. Plus, it had a satisfying ending.

I enjoyed this book but some of the words that were used for the steamy parts put me off a little. Corrie is an excellent female character, she is smart, assertive and adventurous. I like the whole Indiana Jones vibes but with Corrie as the Indy even though Ford was named after him. Lost treasure, ancient Aztec culture, jungles of Mexico; it was all appealing. There is also a good twist at the end that escalates the whole story which was great.

This book was excellent. Vera‘s character is delightful. She actually reminds me of a friend of mine; brutally honest, assertive and loving. All the characters or “suspects”are lovable as well and I was rooting for each one and had sympathy for each of their stories. Also, it really makes you crave good tea, you‘ve been warned. I‘m so glad that a sequel is coming out next year I will definitely read it. I wasn‘t ready to let Vera go.

I loved the ending and the beginning, actually. It was a slow book and sometimes I wondered at the direction but it was always intriguing and beautifully written. I was very invested in all the characters and knowing their stories. There were mysteries upon mysteries. The author also took you to dark places, but the innocence of the main character grounded the narrative in hope. It had all the feels. Keep with it when it slows, it‘s worth it.

I was torn between pick and so-so. This is my 2nd read and my kids love it, but reading it out loud sucks. I love Roald Dahl and usually love his made up words but the giant only speaks in them. So my kids stop me from reading to discuss what does he mean? Eventually I just read the words he was intending to say so we could get into the story and just said some like phizzwizard. I had to skip ahead on the read-along. I won‘t spoil for those who are still reading. I love all the “Earls”on the trip. If only there were more men like them back then in power positions. I enjoyed how the author introduced topics/lifestyles that are normalized now and how that would translate into their era. All in all, it was a very enjoyable story and I didn‘t mind the slow burn once I got into the book. Plus Clem and Archie were precious.
