1. I completed my Goodreads challenge of 52 books. I'm still working on the Read Harder Challenges from the bookriot journal.
2. Hmm... On Litsy, few people know that I've lived in Spain, Chile, Istanbul, and India.
3. Depends on my mood- I always love Motown. Also modern folk (which my friend calls "Hey!" music)
4. Sept and Nov 23 are our wedding anniversaries because we had a wedding in the US and one in India.
5. ? (Labeled as high five...)
I read this, bit just finished it on audio, which I really enjoyed. The cast was pretty great, especially Jennifer Beals as Daisy Jones. Sometimes the male characters blurred together, and Billy Dunne had a random accent, but it was a good listening experience.
Does anyone have another cast of characters audiobook rec?
There's talk of this becoming a miniseries on Amazon and I really hope that happens because I want to head the music so badly!
#7days7covers - Day 7
Tagging anyone who hasn't played yet - maybe a new follower or a past swap partner? 😊
This was a slow burn, and I'm glad I started with the audiobook and switched to print around chapter 16 (.../when I couldn't renew my Libby loan). So many reactions! So many things to discuss!
2. Currently, The Good Place. Honorary mention to Great British Bake Off 🧁
3. Coffee and a slice of toast. Maybe it will fulfill its destiny and become 🥑 toast.
4. Eastern
5. Floral Print Mirror. / Red Mirror.
#unpopularopinion I can't get on board with the premise of this book (Stella needs to learn how to be intimate because of her autism) - Stella has been having bad sex because she's been with bad partners who don't care about her needs or pleasure. Stella is not having bad sex because she's autistic. The bar is set WAY too low for me to be excited about Michael, who, while great with Stella, is otherwise stereotypically emotionally unintelligent.
This is a pick for me... But verging on so-so, as a personal rating. The cast is fun, the magic is fascinating and the author really knows how to keep it action-packed. Personally, I get a little bored by all the fight sequences and there are deeper topics that characters will think about for a couple lines, but are otherwise glossed over (e.g. where's the line between pretending to be evil v becoming evil). I'll probably read the next one.
A delightful one-sitting read and another box checked on Meriden Library summer reading bingo board. It's also my first epistolary read.
Look how well the T-shirt and tote from @catiewithac complement my current read! Thank you, Catie!!! #staycationintimeswap #SITS
@catiewithac Thank you for an amazing swap box! The T-shirt and tote bag are so nice and warrant their own photo shoot. The wrapping paper was so pretty (wild flower seeds, whaaat). I like the range of books you picked, too and am looking forward to reading all of them! And this was the box that kept on giving with the cards, goodies, and beeswax wrappers (which I've been wanting to try). Thank you! #sits #staycationintimeswap @Chrissyreadit
It's hard for me to rate this one. The style is clever and engaging, the overarching themes are fairly compelling, but... EVERY character is SUCH a tough hang. I also get really frustrated by books that pit the cool, artsy, unique moms against...all other moms, who are made out to be simple and petty and unable to lead their own lives (I'm looking at you, Big Little Lies). That's a turn off for me.so I don't think I can make this a Pick.
I listened to the last episode of Binge Mode Harry Potter today and Mallory Rubin had the most moving piece on the impact the series had on her life. I laughed, I cried, I vowed to reread the series soon. Thanks for the memories, Mallory, Jason, and JKR.
I enjoyed this a lot - introspective heroine, more politics than than battles, making tough calls. I'm still confused by the setting though... It's very medieval, but it's supposed to be set in the future??? Transportation is all horses and carts, but there's a JK Rowling shout out? I don't understand that choice..it doesn't seem to add anything. Maybe it will come later? Does anyone have any insights?
A surprise signed copy! This was a fun quick read. Great for an afternoon in the hammock 😎
There's a map, so you know it's gonna be good.
Another #getbooked recommendation that I really liked. Beautiful writing, fascinating stories. I love reading about artistic endeavors. Dessa is a deep thinker, hard worker, and humble but confident artist. I really liked this!
Are these stickers a hint?! Is there astronaut ice cream in there? Very excited! Thanks, @catiewithac! #staycationintimeswap #SITS @Chrissyreadit

1. ✔️
2. Puffy. Try not to eat them all the time, but when a bookstagrammer posed the question "What core would you want in your wand? It could be anything" that came to mind very quickly.
3. Sunset
4. Book plane tickets to Italy and to Uruguay.
5. ??♀️ They were all pretty good... Third grade was a good grade for reading, so let's go with that.
@catiewithac - There's some book mail coming your way!

I liked the world building, but the plot was very predictable and the "big reveals" were not shocking at all. The edition I have also has a lot of bonus material, so the ending was abrupt since there were so many pages left. I miiiight give the next one's a try.
Kicking off the weekend. I told y'all I'd be reading more Marissa Meyer. The local library really pulled through! I got all 3 (main) books in the series!
Only a couple chapters in, but too much telling rather than showing when it comes to character development. Also my bar for romance is too high after listening to the When Harry Met Sally episode of the Rewatchables podcast, which has me focused on high quality dialogue/banter.
I went into this not knowing if it was a retelling, a spin off, an origin story, or something else...and I think in this case, ignorance was bliss and great suspense 😊 I loved how immersive the world was, and also enjoyed the dialogue. I plan to read more from Marissa Meyer!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ this book is so good. But also I can't stop crying (as of the last few chapters). The chapters about Rita are my favorite, but really I like them all. The book is well written, conversational and educational at the same time.
Summer is here! Library bingo, free latte, and a book of alphabet postcards to send to my niece. Does the tagged book count toward the bingo square A Book with a plant in the cover?
@Jennick2004 you are too good to me! This is the box that just kept giving! What a range of books (the tagged isn't pictured because I set it aside to start immediately). I'm glad you added your own pick to stretch my reading. The mug and pens and notebook any everything are delightful and THE POPCORN! That Chicago mix 🤤 Thank you so much!

My name is that ok with you.
You killed my phone.
Prepare to be a part of the team.
...so aggressively welcoming.
Having just seen Rocketman really helps me visualize a lot of the scenes in this. Digging the interview structure and quotable bits.
I'm cracking up over my morning coffee. I think this is one of the first memoirs I've read that's written by someone who clearly grew up in the 90s. There was also a reference to Puppy Surprise that was excellent.
You've done it again, Get Booked podcast! 4/5 of this TBR stack are nonfiction picks from the latest episode... I never browse in the nonfiction section, but I trust Amanda and Jenn to recommend some gems.
It took some time to get into this (honestly about 150-200 pages) but I'm glad I stuck with it. Some great characters and great quotes, not to mention the setting.
I liked the first two books of this trilogy better. This one felt disjointed and jumped around a lot... But maybe that feeling reflects my reading pattern. I didn't feel like there was enough time spent with the main characters and I mostly felt perplexed in a bored way instead of in the curious way that Jemisin's writing usually provokes.
Too real. 😳
I saw this on the tagged author's Instagram. If you like slam poetry and social justice, keep an eye out for his work.
It's here it's here! I'm not sure who to tag...but after some deep sleuthing (aka looking at all the #summersantagoespostal tagged posts) my best guess is @Jennick2004 ... Did I get it?
