1. Santaland Diaries. Ok, maybe not a "classic" holiday book, but I worked in retail throughout high school and college, including my share of Christmases, and I can't tell you how perfectly Sedaris captures what it's like.
2. The Grinch
Every year, I read a Christmas-themed book on December first. Today, I was researching possibilities on Goodreads and looked up this front runner on Amazon. How about that detailed description? #sohelpful

An unconventional collection of tales from Sedaris, based on his stint as a Christmas Elf in a department store. Some funny observations and thoughts. You'll either like his dark humour or find it just meh.

David Sedaris's "Santaland Diaries" would make the best holiday anti-Christmas movie. Vulgarity, bad behavior, foul language, miserable retail shopping, student loan debt. That's what Christmas means to means to me. I am shocked it has never been adapted. I could imagine myself watching this every year alongside "A Christmas Story," "Bad Santa," "Home Alone," and "Elf." #seasonsreadings2016 #thisshouldbeamovie
