Always my favorite. He‘s too good and made me a short story lover! Not my favorite collection of his but still better than 99% of everything else

While I know of Sedaris, I don't think I've actually read him before? A Libro.fm sale was a good excuse to give him a shot - he's lovely reading his own work. This was a fun read, but not exactly in my personal humor pocket - it keeps edging toward embarrassment humor. But there were a few moments that were perfectly set up and gut-punched me with a combo of humor and emotion. Well worth the read.
A fun one from Sedaris. Most of the essays relate stories from his childhood, plus there‘s a particularly good one from his younger years in NYC. Definitely some laugh out loud moments.
David Sedaris‘ novels are the literary equivalent to stand up comedy. What humour and wit. He has such an eye for how the small moments of our lives can become pure comedic gold.
Can never get enough David Sedaris - trying to get through the backlist before seeing him live in October. I realized I‘ve barely been on Litsy; super busy at work, the US is a dumpster fire, and then Covid finally caught my husband and me after over two years of dodging bullets. It hasn‘t been fun at all but really hoping to be on the upswing in the next few days!
The only one of the stories from this collection I already knew was “Six to Eight Black Men“ which is about conceptions of Santa around the world and is much more like Sedaris‘ traditional comedy than most of this dry autobiographical collection. I ended up enjoying the more serious essays though, even though they surprised me, and I really appreciated his unsentimental observations on family. #WinterGames2021 #TeamGameSleighers @StayCurious
I loved, loved, loved my first adventure with David Sedaris, Me Talk Pretty One Day, so I‘m not ashamed to say I came to Dress Your Family In Corduroy And Denim hoping for more of the same. Such an approach would normally invite disappointment, but Sedaris totally delivered. This is an amazing collection of 22 autobiographical essays. After some misses with Sedaris, this one is def a pick! I enjoyed this one alot!
Love this one so far. Might be one of my favs from Sedaris
Just laughed alone, no one asked if I was okay. They must know I'm reading...
3rd day of being showed in. Rain expected soon to wash it all away. Meanwhile, reading this gem I found at a little free library.
My first David Sedaris book - I loved how human and intimate the essays were, but still funny. I love humour that doesn‘t try to iron out the complexity in real situations and reduce it down, this let all the people and situations be gorgeously and deliciously complicated, sometimes bittersweet, always so fun to read.
@CaroPi THANK YOU I loved it 🥰

Thank you so much @CaroPi for the gorgeous #jolabokaflod gifts!!! I LOVE all things Polish - my vacation in Warsaw was one of my all time faves so it makes me so happy having Polish sweets! I cannot wait to read the book, you were so right about everyone needing something to make us laugh rn.
@MaleficentBookDragon
COVID really threw a wrench in my daily reading routine. I had originally planned to read one or two books a week in 2020 and I thought with COVID I would be able to read so much more! But in actuality the opposite happened. that‘s not necessarily a bad thing because I have made progress in other areas of my life re: quilting. So....anyone else not meeting their reading goals, in lieu of other achievements?
So I think I read this in college and want to get to it again...I know it was Sedaris, but I don't remember which book it was. It was one of my first taste of gay media and when I talked with the professor about it she got super excited that I was excited and it was one my happiest memories of Minot State. God I wish I could remember which collection it was from.

Sedaris is a fellow Capricorn. While I‘ve read several of his books, this one has been sitting on my shelf since I found it in a Little Free Library three years ago. Better late than never!

Enjoy!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Always a pleasure, Mr. Sedaris. A reread/listen was just the ‘rona distraction I needed. #rona
Can‘t wait for the second installment of his diaries, due out this summer!
▶️🎧♻️ These weird times call for a Sedaris #reread. His dark, dry humor is always a comfort.

Very relatable.😥
David Sedaris makes me laugh although his sister Amy usually makes me laugh even harder.🤣
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After recently reading a lot of books that had very serious and emotionally draining content, I thought it was time to read something fun! David Sedaris was the perfect anecdote! His writing is sharp, hilarious, and always adds in a twist of a moral to give the reader pause- for-thought. I can hardly wait to read his newest book!
Another funny collection of essays from Sedaris. My favorite was the last one where David looks at his living room through the eyes of a stranger.
There were some stories I liked more than others, but I keep coming back for more so I suppose that makes me a fan.
I love listening to him read the audiobooks.
Thank you so much for the birthday presents George!! I really liked Me Talk Pretty One Day, so I'm super excited to have another Sedaris book! 📬💌 @Trashcanman
https://youtu.be/jIXscGcdGyk “Listen, you might want to pack a few of your things together before going to bed. The former bishop of Turkey will be coming tonight along with six to eight black men. They might put some candy in your shoes, they might stuff you into a sack and take you to Spain, or they might just pretend to kick you. We don‘t know for sure, but we want you to be prepared.”
View from the front seat - just outside of Solvang, CA - we listened to this audiobook on our trip for Thanksgiving. It made us laugh.
Very funny, as you'd expect from David Sedaris. The essays are great snapshots of his life and his family. Definitely recommend listening on audio.
My birthday was last week and when I spent the weekend with my family this past weekend, @emilyhaldi gave me my birthday present. A book tote and two signed books!! 😍😍😍

This was the first cover that came into my mind reading the prompt. I have not read the book yet.
Sometimes you need old favourites when you're sick! I can't face the subway without a book, and I've loved rereading these! Sedaris is always excellent. It was especially interesting revisiting his childhood having just read Calypso, and his diaries!

My lovely wife attended David Sedaris' reading tonight here in St. Louis. He's one of my favorite writers, so she got two of my books signed. ❤️ Next time he's in town, I will be there!
Quite a few chuckles to be found here. Doesn't come close to Me Talk Pretty One Day for me, but that is a high bar to beat!
I had to read something light after The Great Alone, and this was just what the doctor ordered! I literally laugh out loud when I read Sedaris! His observations and story telling tickle my funny bone. 😂
Congrats @DGRachel ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My favorite thing to read is anything by David Sedaris. I have recommended him over and over. His observations and storytelling cause me to chuckle, which we all need from time to time! Naked, Barrel Fever, Holidays on Ice, Let‘s Explore Diabetes in Owls.

Halfway through The Woman in Cabin 10, and not that impressed. Decided a little Sedaris is what I need to end the night with! I like to have 2-3 books going for this reason.
@MinDea - I adore your #humpdaypost - yay Wednesday! 🙌🏼
1. I‘m ISO a good pair of jeans.
2. Plain
3. Harry Potter...but I was to revisit The Baby Sitter‘s Club, myself!
4. The list is long: singer, teacher, garbage man (to ride the back of the truck), & a fire engine...yes, a big, red, shiny fire engine. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
5. 6...as a kid, I once rolled a 6 three times in a row and decided it was, clearly, my lucky number!
"I might reinvent myself to strangers, but to this day, as far as my family is concerned, I‘m still the one most likely to set your house on fire."
Rereading David Sedaris (nonfiction) via #audio has been so fun! I loved his books before, but he's now solidified a spot among my favorite authors. He is such an amazing story teller. His last lines are always perfect.

Denim, jeans... I'll be honest, I think I'd be a lot farther with this particular challenge if I hadn't gotten hung up on this theme.
Gonna add #laughoutloud (from #awesomeautumnreads #day24 ) to this one too, cause Sedaris.
Continuing my quest to #reread every #Sedaris via #audio. 🎧 #currentlyreading #currentlylistening #audible
