The explosive conclusion to the Newsflesh trilogy from New York Times bestseller Mira Grant. Rise up while you can. -- Georgia MasonThe year was 2014. The year we cured cancer. The year we cured the common cold. And the year the dead started to walk. The year of the Rising. The year was 2039. The world didn't end when the zombies came, it just got worse. Georgia and Shaun Mason set out on the biggest story of their generation. The uncovered the biggest conspiracy since the Rising and realized that to tell the truth, sacrifices have to be made. Now, the year is 2041, and the investigation that began with the election of President Ryman is much bigger than anyone had assumed. With too much left to do and not much time left to do it in, the surviving staff of After the End Times must face mad scientists, zombie bears, rogue government agencies-and if there's one thing they know is true in post-zombie America, it's this:Things can always get worse.BLACKOUT is the conclusion to the epic trilogy that began in the Hugo-nominated FEED and the sequel, DEADLINE. Whoa What a weird time to finally finish the Newsflesh trilogy. In a pandemic 😷 while media, the CDC, the government are under ever increasing suspicion. The books back drop of increased security, restricted travel and virus testing protocols. characters who discuss the loss of freedom since the zombie apocalypse. the world building is amazing the research Mira/Seanan puts in is unparalleled it‘s uncanny how her fictional 2040 relates to 2020
⬇️

5feet.of.fury This installment deals with unethical science experiments beyond that of the virus. After The End Times staff continue to take on the CDC with the help or hinderance of some unique background characters and leaves you wondering who‘s really on the side of our MCs and humanity in general until the final pages. 3y

So I used to keep the receipts to use as bookmarks. Bought this 5/15/2014 😬 I‘m really enjoying it, I‘ve been lacking scifi lately. My BF has been watching Fear The Walking Dead so we are def having our own zombie resurgence in this household 🤣🧟‍♀️

1. 2021 Reading Goal of 60 books! Right on target, 5 books a month seems to be a good number for me.
2. reading goals? just sticking to the plan and pulling from the TBR. Life goals? Hike Mt Washington (NH), I purchased a home in May and I need to get my backyard/patio together at last and organize some recently inherited items.
3. Today I‘m grateful for free time after work with my dude

Putting together a proper TBR pile and setting up my reading nook as I unpack. Found a few more unread (or unfinished) books. Probably most excited for Blackout, I tore through the 1st 2 in the series quickly, but couldn‘t get into the right headspace for the 3rd one and then put it in a box ...where it stayed for several years 🤨 I still vividly recall where I left off so I‘m just going to hop back in

another trilogy done for the year. this was a pretty good end to the series, albeit at times it felt a bit rushed and wrapped some things up a bit conveniently. there's also uh, a romance reveal that comes out of left field with no build-up for either character involved that's quite strange. I'm not terribly interested in zombie fiction in general but I think this series was solid and unique overall.

Finishing this trilogy was wow a rollercoaster of emotions. It definitely takes you through some interesting drama! Beyond the zombies and craziness even. Definitely a series I recommend that will keep you on your toes! #teamharkness @StayCurious #scarathlon2020 +16

Wow! This was an awesome conclusion to a series I wasn‘t sure I was going to finish. The first book was a definite struggle to finish but if you persevere you won‘t be disappointed! I‘m now going to read all the novellas for this series.

Y‘all this book was real good, the little blurbs from their blogs are heartwarming, cry worth, and laughter inducing, often all at once! This whole trilogy was an ‘I can‘t put it down read‘ and the finale was no exception. I expected nothing less from one of my favourite authors but I am, as always impressed.

“Camps were established in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama after Tropical Storm Fiona hit. People were assigned to them supposedly at random, although the Florida camps received a higher than average percentages of the poor, children without surviving parents, and journalists who‘d been arrested inside the quarantine zone.”
“[the Florida camps] are considered lower priority, due to the chance of contamination.”
This book feels too real sometimes.

3/5⭐ I still enjoyed the action, fast pacing, and humorous character interactions. Something was missing for me in the overall wrap-up, though, and I can't quite put my finger on it. It felt incomplete, just ending before I really felt it should have been over. The fix-it plotline introduced for events in the first book seemed almost forced and therefore detracted from the plot/character depth and cohesion.

The last of the newsflesh trilogy was just as amazing as the first!

Such a great blend of politics, intrigue, government conspiracies, and of course zombies.

The last in the Newsflesh Trilogy this novel starts at 80mph and doesn't stop. It proves that Mira Grant is a force to be reckoned with and deserves praise in the SciFi literary community.

I wish I could say more about plot and characters but I can't really do that without spoilers, all I can say in this book does every single one of its characters justice and solidifies my adoration for this Series. Top 10 of my favorite reads for sure 😍

What a fun zombie apocalypse / dystopian trilogy. The world has definitely changed but it is still recognizable. Love the names of the blogs, the relatable characters, the good action, the conspiracy theory. I spent my first waking hour this morning finishing the audiobook.

Okay so an apple has nothing to do with this book, but I'm nearing the end. Love this series -- crazily (mostly) believable in terms of technology and conspiracy theory. I didn't love book 2 but the finale is action packed and fun.
