Thirst: A Harry Hole Novel
Thirst: A Harry Hole Novel | Jo Nesbo
Harry Hole returns in the eleventh installment of the best-selling, electrifying crime fiction series that includes The Bat, The Snowman, and, most recently, Police. In Police--the last novel featuring Jo Nesbo's hard-bitten, maverick Oslo detective--a killer wreaking revenge on the police had Harry Hole fighting for the safety of the people closest to him. Now, in The Thirst, the story continues as Harry is inextricably drawn back into the Oslo police force. A serial murderer has begun targeting Tinder daters--a murderer whose MO reignites Harry's hunt for a nemesis of his past.

Another great read! I love the Harry Hole series. This one was really gritty and gruesome. I had to put it down for some of the really brutal bits but not for long as I was completely hooked. It kept me guessing until the very end. Very clever! I‘ve reserved the next one from the public library

An excellent installment in the Harry Hole series, in which Harry hunts a serial killer with vampiric tendencies. The audiobook was superbly narrated by John Lee.

First book finished for the #AwesomeApril readathon! @Andrew65

Are you all sick of me raving about this series yet 😂 Another incredible installment in the Harry Hole series. Part of why I love these books so much is that Nesbø does such a good job of throwing you off track so the end isn't obvious He throws suspicion onto multiple characters in subtle ways. It keeps the books suspenseful and exciting. There is one book left in this series (as of now) and I think I have to read it now! 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Woohoo! I am fully caught up on this series. Which is an extremely rare event. 😃😃

I am definitely ready for a break from crime novels. It was a bad idea to finish this right before going to sleep last night. 😱

✅ 11/11 books read in Harry Hole series

TheSpineView Excellent!😊 6y
AnneCecilie He has written a new Hole book that comes out in June in Norway. So the English translation is probably also out around that time. 6y
alisiakae @AnneCecilie I know! At least when it comes out, I will be caught up! That‘s what I mean by ‘finished‘. 😃 6y
AnneCecilie @4thhouseontheleft I still have some catching up to do. Think I‘ve only read the first four books. 6y

I‘m so happy to have some extra reading time today! Hoping to make a serious dent in this book. Loading up on a healthy breakfast to recover from some unhealthy weekend eating: Engine 2 Power Up Oatmeal with a ton of fruit thrown on top! 🥭 🍓
#booksandbreakfast

kstadt929 Yum! I want that oatmeal! 6y
alisiakae @kstadt929 I have to toss in a ton of my favorite fruit to offset the sugar free and dairy free aspect (I use almond milk). 😃 6y
saresmoore I commend you for eating unsweetened oatmeal! I can‘t do it without a splash of honey or maple syrup. But, tell me about this oatmeal brand, please? 6y
alisiakae @saresmoore I also find it really hard to eat without honey! A big handful of fruit does help give it the sweetness I crave. I buy the oatmeal at Whole Foods. Our WF does heavy promotion of the Engine Diet, which I don‘t follow, but I do love their oatmeal! https://engine2diet.com/blog/food/rips-power-up-bowl-organic-double-berry-hot-ce... 6y

Screw chores (I did do one load of laundry), it‘s sunny and warm enough for bare feet and reading in the chaise lounge and hammock! I am going to enjoy this while it lasts!

Rcoco Sounds glorious. Are you a nesbo fan? I tried to read “Macbeth” and I just couldn‘t take it. Wondering if others are better 6y
alisiakae @rcoco I am, although some are a bit gorier than I like. I started with Redbreast, which I think is one of his best. This is the last book in the series, I think Macbeth is one of his stand-alone books. (edited) 6y

Over the past month, after rereading the entire ACOTAR series, I needed to trade fantasy for reality. So I chose my dear (and bloody) Jo Nesbø.

I love this series so much and I really hope we get another. There were a couple of small things I had problems with but nothing to keep me from reading the series again, which I have every intention of doing. Harry Hole is my favorite asshole.

Read this on holiday in Norway and stayed where the book is set 🙈 loved this book, the first Jo Nesbo book I have read and really liked it 🙌🏼 at times I felt like the story was dragged out but the ending was the best part of the book as it was so unexpected.

This is an excellent series with character and time progression. Hole is a man obsessed both with alcohol and murder. He's finally kicked both booze, is now teaching at the police academy and is happily married. But the one murderer who got away draws him back. These are complex in both plot and character development. I really should have reread the last book or found a wiki page with an in depth summary.

Excellent addition to the series. Nesbo writes dark crime novels like no one else and this one held the tension at a fever pitch from the first chapter to the last.

I've devoured the Harry Hole series. On Audiobooks its kept me entertained through thousands of miles of driving. I worried though that either Jo Nesbo would call time on Harry or fail to maintain the standards we've come to expect.

Delighted to say The Thirst brings Harry back and he's almost happy, would you believe? There's no sign of Jo Nesbo getting stale either. So much to like and to shudder at; it's hardly a spoiler to say so much death!

Simona Welcome to the Litsy and a lot of fun❣️ 8y

I went to see Jo Nesbo tonight! He drew a huge crowd, so we were many rows away from him even though I got there pretty early to secure seats.

He definitely appeals to the older demographic, too. I was one of the youngest people there by a fair margin, and one of very few people who hadn't read him yet. (My dad's a big fan, so I went to keep him company.) I'd like to remedy that, though, because he's an interesting fellow indeed.

MarriedtoMrT From that angle and with those glasses I thought maybe it was Bono before I read your post. I'm also horrible at celebrity sighting type things so maybe I'm the only one to think that. 😬 8y
xicanti @MarriedtoMrT I knew he reminded me of someone, but I've got terrible facial recognition so I didn't connect him with Bono until you mentioned it! 8y
Bklover The Snowman was a good Nesbo book. (And yes he does look like Bono in the pic) 8y

Nesbo is back to his greatest with this one. Harry Hole is as enigmatic as ever; and the crime is complex and gory. What more could you ask for?

Peterfox123 I binged on this book. Couldn't leave it alone. Harry Hole is one of the most compelling flawed heroes and Jo Nesbo doesn't seem to be running short of plot lines for him. 8y

What a thriller - and a long one. Just when the mystery appeared to be solved, a new twist would appear and the story continued. I liked the new characters that Nesbo introduced in this book - especially Anders and Mona - hopefully they'll appear in the next book.
