The Stories of Edgar Allen Poe
The Stories of Edgar Allen Poe: Manga Classics | Poe
22 posts | 11 read | 4 to read
The Tales of Edgar Allan Poe is a brilliant collection of some of his best-known stories: The Tell Tale Heart (a murder's haunting guilt), The Cask of Amontillado (a story of brilliant revenge), and The Fall of the House of Usher (an ancient house full of very dark secretes). Also included in this collection are The Mask of the Red Death (horrors of 'the Plague'), and the most famous of all his poems: The Raven (a lover's decline into madness). Best read in a dimly-lit room with the curtains drawn, Poe's brilliant works come to life in darkly thrilling ways in this Manga Classic adaptation.

Somewhat bookish related. The most annoying part of puzzling-is getting all the way done except for ONE PIECE that was not in the box. I checked everywhere to see if I had dropped it. No piece to be found. So I‘m assuming it just wasn‘t in the box to begin with 😪*insert angry dinosaur noises*

royallyregan93 There is a magical world where all the missing puzzle pieces, sock mates, buttons, remotes, and decent pens are located. 4y
Hooked_on_books Do you have a dog? 😬🐶🧩 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Hooked_on_books - that was what I was thinking!! Our missing pieces are usually due to a pet or child culprit!! 4y

StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Still an awesome puzzle! 4y
RainyDayReading @Hooked_on_books @TheAromaofBooks I have two dogs actually 😁 But they were kept out of the room the puzzle was in precisely for that reason. So they wouldn‘t wander off with anything they weren‘t supposed to 🤣 4y
Hooked_on_books @RainyDayReading @TheAromaofBooks The up side is, you can still blame them! 😆 4y
cherinium I once completed a puzzle to find the very center was missing a piece. That was in my pre-pet life, so it had to have just been missing all along! 4y
RainyDayReading @cherinium That's so frustrating! I've done 4 puzzles in the last few years and 3 of them have a missing piece 😪 It's even worse when you don't have furry helpers to blame it on! 4y

This is a #graphicnovel that I received though #netgalley and enjoyed it. The Tell Tale Heart was my favorite.

Nevermore88 I love EAP ( hence my litsytag) and tell tale heart is also my fav. 5y
readinginthedark Fun! There are some manga versions of Shakespeare stories I've read and really enjoyed. Fascinating that so many stories are being retold this way! 5y

Going to start this (not exactly the title stored on Litsy, but close). Got it for 20p at charity book sale years ago. The font size is tiny! Already think I‘m not going to like it, but at least that would clear a space on my over-burdened bookshelves.

led567 70 pages to go... what a struggle! Looking forward to it all being over. 5y

Mine is tagged. Poe has an amazing way of making life seem worse than death. In many ways it can be true and I think that's what makes his writings so horrifying. We're all afraid of the fate worse than death.
What about you guys? 😃

Wow! What a glorious box! What a beautiful cross stitch of the raven! I‘ve not cross stitched in years! And what a fun kit to try. I also received collected stories of Edgar Allan Poe and Villa America, which looks good! There is also chocolate, and journals, and some really interesting looking scratcher things. And Mrs Incredible magnets. I‘m a very lucky girl!!! Thanks so much!!! #makerswap

LibrarianRyan Such a fun and dark collection. Love it. @theresidentromantic 6y
theresidentromantic I'm glad you like it! I tried to theme, since I've never seen a book that mentions cross stitch. The Incredibles magnet is called a needle minder, I made it and I sell them on Etsy. It goes on either side of your stitching fabric, to hold your needle when you're not using it :) 6y
Daisydo @theresidentromantic what a great idea! I will take them off my bulletin board ASAP. I just love them! 6y

ARC provided by NetGalley and Udon Entertainment.
An excellent manga adaptation of Poe's works. I have not previously read these stories and have a feeling I would not enjoy them as much outside of this manga format. The art styles were all distinct and very appropriate for each story. I especially loved the art during the masquerade scene in Masque of the Red Death and the way Usher was drawn The Fall of the House of Usher.

Some of Poe's most popular stories are presented as a manga in this fantastic book. The original text is used, and the illustrations are as creepy and atmospheric as Poe's writing. This will make an excellent addition to any middle school or high school classroom that already reads Poe's work, especially for students who struggle with the language. Any fan of Edgar Allan Poe will enjoy this collection. *Read via Netgalley

Hey Littens! I got to thinking this weekend would anyone be interested in doing a buddy read of Poe‘s works? It wouldn‘t be too much of a commitment- maybe a story or poem each fortnight/month and a group discussion about it? Let me know if you would be interested and I‘ll get a schedule arranged if there‘s an appetite! #EagerforEdgar

SconsinBookyBadger I‘m interested! 🙋🏻‍♀️ 6y

Among my freakish habits is micro-writing. And no, I don‘t have Micrographia except by choice! Here‘s the first sentence in Poe‘s “The Fall of the House of Usher” on half a post-it note. All hail the king of macabre and commas!

GarthRanzz Love that you used Poe for this! I used to write small but not that small! I had a hell of a time in school when assignments were based on page count. I had to write twice as much as anyone else! 6y
Kaye Welcome 🌷 6y
jillrhudy @GarthRanzz once UVA brought the Poe stuff up from the Ransome Center in TX and I got to see an original longhand copy of “The Raven” 😮 6y
GarthRanzz So cool! One of my bucket list items is to visit his haunts and the museum in Baltimore some day. 6y
Aimeesue @GarthRanzz The Museum in Baltimore isn't much - it's really tiny! There's not much to see but the house itself, but it was kind of fun climbing up to the teeny tiny garrett. There's a cute gift shop downstairs where I got my Poe mug. 🐦😄 6y

I've never read manga before, but I think this was a great way to be introduced. Poe's stories are so delightfully creepy, and the illustrations in this were perfectly eerie and scary. I love that this form of comic might introduce more people to Poe's work. #arc ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
