The November Girl
The November Girl | Lydia Kang
10 posts | 3 read | 6 to read
I am Anda, and the lake is my mother. I am the November storms that terrify sailors and sink ships. With their deaths, I keep my little island on Lake Superior alive. Hector has come here to hide from his family until he turns eighteen. Isle Royale is shut down for the winter, and there's no one here but me. And now him. Hector is running from the violence in his life, but violence runs through my veins. I should send him away, to keep him safe. But I'm half human, too, and Hector makes me want to listen to my foolish, half-human heart. And if I do, I can't protect him from the storms coming for us.

Interesting. I don‘t know if I liked this one or not. I finished it. I probably wouldn‘t recommend it though.

Finished this book 2 hours before November ended so we‘re gonna call it a success! I absolutely loved this book and the main characters who are so real.
Anda is the Witch of November; the storms that make Lake Superior especially deadly in November around Isle Royale. Hector is running from his life and in need of somewhere to hide. Maybe an island everyone abandons during the storm season wasn‘t his best choice, especially since he‘s not alone.

I read only 9 books this month. I have been a little busy for my sprint triathlon training😳too scare😬 like always🙄 in the 🏊🏼‍♀️ part.

But I enjoyed my reading time and in general the books were good. I read my #BookSpin book (Rule of Wolves) @TheAromaOfBooks
but I still need to read the double spin. No bingos this time🤗

I hope you all enjoyed your reading time📚🥰

TheAromaofBooks Yay!!! Fantastic month!!! 3y
Chrissyreadit Wow!!! That‘s a great reading month 😍🙌🥳 3y
NikkiM5 Best of luck 💪🏽. I did a couple of sprint triathlons in the past and the swim always made me nervous. When is your race?? 3y

Gissy I always excited to know that other persons likes these events. The race is on December 19th, no the best season for swimming. Every time I am in the middle of the training I asked myself, “why I signed up”🙄🤣I‘m slow in 🏊🏼‍♀️ , in the 🚴🏽‍♂️ and in the 🏃🏽‍♀️. But I‘m a finisher😂 3y
Gissy @Chrissyreadit Yes, I enjoyed the books. Now, I need to decide what I want to read for December. So many good books, so little time🤗 3y
BiblioLitten Good luck to you! 🏊🏼‍♀️🚴🏽‍♂️🏃🏽‍♀️ 3y

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick ❤Thank you Heather! ❤ I'll probably have a low key celebration with my brother (same day, not twins) and his family, and my BF. Of course, I'll insist everyone treats me like a queen the entire month though. 🤣 4y
Crazeedi @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick agree! It's my birthday month after all!! 4y

A haunting, sweet supernatural romance story. I loved Hector — he was such a great balance of things — sweet & rough, impatient & kind. I loved his evolution. Anda was a little harder to figure out, but I guess that‘s the point. The plot moved kind of slowly, & it was mostly predictable, but its execution was riveting. First book for the #monthlymotifgxo (Diversify Your Reading) & #platypirediversitychallenge (Biracial Awareness) ★★★ ½

November was a great month. Except for maybe one, I really enjoyed all of these reads.

cathysaid And now I want to know the "one".... ? 7y
Bostonmomx2 @cathysaid I ended up being pretty disappointed in Map of the Heart. She‘s usually one of my faves but this one wasn‘t well done imo. 7y

I actually had a pretty decent reading month given that I‘m in full swing with teaching! I didn‘t finish That Thing You Do, but otherwise I read the rest. My favorite read was probably Little Fires Everywhere, Beartown or Turtles All the Way Down. #novemberreads
