Day 13
Sweeping multigenerational historical novel with more than a touch of fairy tale. The scope reminded me of Barkskins. Highly readable. 3.5 🌟
I went to my annual reader appreciation weekend again at the end of April. I came home with 33 books, only 12 of which I paid for, averaging $7 a book. If you're near Milwaukee and enjoy romance/suspense check it out.
Sometimes the best reads are books randomly picked up at the library. So glad I decided to take it home with me! A mixture of historical fiction and magical realism, it really fit into what I was looking to read. Crummey makes this book flow in a way that I have never read before. Years pass between sentences and generations pass quickly before your eyes. I found it very hard to put this book down. #2013 #Canadian
1. Smarties- I will eat them but my last choice. Now a candy I hate would definitely be black licorice.
2. Galore by Michael Crummey
3. Italian
4. Yes 23 on my Dad's side and 0 on my Mom's
side(she is an only child)

Thanks for the tag @rohit-sawant ! Here are my #10AuthorRecommendations 😊
I'd love to see what recommendations @ReadingEnvy @BarbaraBB @Cinfhen @Redheadrambles @shawnmooney would suggest! 🙋🏼Tag! As well as everyone else of course 😘
I have so many books with #deckleedge that I can't put them all in one photo. To be honest, I grew up calling these French-cut pages. I had no idea there was an actual English term.
My Book Outlet order arrived today. Another good haul! Not pictured are the 9 books I bought at HPB last week. I'm thinking I may need an intervention😉 I am really looking forward to reading Michael Crummey's Galore and River Thieves. I'm hoping they are as good as Sweetland. #blamelitsy #bookhaul #bookoutlethaul
Loved this book. Even though it wasn't a happy book, it was well written and intriguing.
The only book I have in all three formats: print, ebook and audio. Love this so much 🐋🐋🐋

#Booktober #Day26 #Rereads -- apart from classic lit., I very rarely reread books, though I do keep books I love with the intention of reading them again. Michael Crummey's Galore is quite the exception for me. I think I have read it 5 times since it published. Dang, I love this book!!! Hard!! 😀📚❤️
An all time favourite! #setbythesea in Newfoundland:
🌊 stark yet beautiful landscape
⚓️ multi-generational saga
🌲 much-needed family tree diagram
🐳 wry humour
🚣 regional folklore & tall tales
🐋 just a touch of magical realism
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ recommend for everyone

People, you need to read Canadian author Michael Crummey! He's a native of Newfoundland, which is where his books are set. His stories are so alive and his characters so real you feel like you live among them. See also Sweetland and River Thieves. #CanLit #Newfoundland
For #recommendsday . I found myself completely suspending disbelief, and plunging headlong into the world of early Newfoundland. The characters complex in their seeming simplicity. Love, folkways, tragedy, history all make for the best sort of storytelling.
