Lois Lane: Fallout
Lois Lane: Fallout | Gwenda Bond
Lois Lane is starting a new life in Metropolis. An Army brat, Lois has lived all over--and seen all kinds of things. (Some of them defy explanation, like the near-disaster she witnessed in Kansas in the middle of one night.) But now her family is putting down roots in the big city, and Lois is determined to fit in. Stay quiet. Fly straight. As soon as she steps into her new high school, though, she can see it won't be that easy. A group known as the Warheads is making life miserable for another girl at school. They're messing with her mind, somehow, via the high-tech immersive videogame they all play. Not cool. Armed with her wit and her new snazzy job as a reporter, Lois has her sights set on solving this mystery. But sometimes it's all a bit much. Thank goodness for her maybe-more-than-a friend, a guy she knows only by his screenname, SmallvilleGuy . . .

I am loving this book! It‘s fast, fun, and gives us the Lois Lane that I feel never gets properly portrayed on screen - sharp, smart, blunt, loyal and relentless. This teen portrayal lets her really shine, as you-know-who doesn‘t appear except as her secret online messaging buddy. I‘d describe it as Gallagher Girls meets Warcross, or if you‘re into anime, it has some Sword Art Online vibes.

Another delayed review!

This book was solidly ok for me. I found it a bit slow to start and I didn‘t quite connect with Lois or her classmates at first. The narrative eventually picked up and grabbed me, but maybe a little late. Overall not bad, but while I‘ll read the others in the series, I‘m not going to rush to do so.

Cannot recommend the Chaos Walking trilogy enough. 💚 Iron Cast is my current read and the bottom two are upcoming reads!

I chose Lois Lane as today's Superhero. While she doesn't have any powers, she is within the super hero universe. Using her brains and knowledge is her super power. #sizzlinsummerbooks

Think Chloe from Smallville or Veronica Mars and you'll be on the right track for Fallout's own heroine Lois Lane. This YA novel gives Miss Lane a chance to stand on her own as we meet her at the very beginning of her journalism career. Fast-paced, a cool mystery, and good writing made this a thoroughly enjoyable read. The first in this new series, I'm looking forward to reading the next one soon!

Anyone else suffer from the continuous cycle of having to request a lot of things from the library because all the ones you want to read are on hold, and you can't not have something to read, and then at one point all of your requests come in at once?

I still need to finish the Lois Lane trilogy the first one is really good and has a lot of cute moments I don't know why I hardly ever see people talking about it. I think all of Gwenda Bonds books are underrated.

This is the best Lois Lane - and one of the best Clark Kents - I've ever read, and a fun little mystery besides. I love this series.

This was a pretty quick read. There were a few slower paced sections; however, those weren't enough to completely stop me from reading.
Lois is brave and determined, and I liked her character because those qualities could be seen influencing her actions. The other characters seemed a bit flatter.
I am interested in reading more about Lois, though I hope the secondary characters are more fleshed out.

Sunday morning reading in bed. I stayed up too late last night and woke up too early, but I just had to finish Fallout. What an inventive reimagining of the story of Lois Lane - I love getting more of her backstory and seeing her as a real person instead of someone just in need of rescue. Plus, I love to support Kentucky authors. Now on to Double Down!

What an unexpected surprise. This book filled the Veronica Mars sized hole in my heart! I never realized how much Lois Lane and Veronica had in common but I was very pleasantly surprised. I let this book sit on my shelf for a year. That's not going to happen with the just released sequel. I can't wait to get it. 🏃🏻💨

Two recent reads, Lois Lane: Fallout and book one of The Spellman Files reminded me of one of my favorite shows and its snarky, intelligent, always-getting-into-trouble protagonist, Veronica Mars! check out my blog post on other perfect pairs at forlifesnotaparagraphblog.wordpress.com.

I had high expectations for this book, but it fell flat for me. Lois Lane is communicating via messages to "SmallvilleGuy" while trying to expose some shenanigans going on at her school. The first half felt like nothing happened, and then everything got resolved too quickly in the last half.

Kristin.C.07 I started this then put it down. Seemed boring. 8y

EW: "it's basically Lois Lane in a Veronica Mars-eque plot" & it is. Kudos to Bond for a story that is interesting throughout. I have minor issues w/Lane's sudden ability w/journalism, & her mom is either in the kitchen or dining room, but they don't wreck the enjoying the story. Cool cover.

Phenomenal YA about Lois Lane, kickass girl reporter & recent transfer student to East Metropolis High. Bond builds a compelling ensemble of characters & takes advantage of a modern setting w/affectionate nods to DC canon. Great start to the series.

It will be interesting to simultaneously read Fallout (a YA novel with a teen female protagonist in the DC Universe) and Black Widow: Forever Red (same but in the Marvel Universe). This is my first time reading Gwenda Bond and I've heard good things.
